Preview for Episode 7 of Lie to Me and Last Scene of Episode 6

I have a sinking suspicion that Lie to Me is about to become the second coming of Mary Stayed Out All Night for me. A Mon-Tues drama with lower-than-expected ratings, likely a small cultish following, and will own me body and soul despite my being fully aware the script sucks, all because I love the OTP so much I can scarce stop thinking about them. I’m not quite there yet (I hit that point with episode 7 of M3), but all the signs are there, including writing way too much about nothing when it comes time to analyze this drama.

Currently we are still getting previews because the live-shoot hasn’t caught up yet, so I’m bringing you the video preview for episode 7, with a translation of the dialogue. And if anyone just wants to watch the much-discussed kiss scene, I’m providing a link as well. If I become crazily obsessed with LTM, be prepared for an insane amount of Kang Ji Hwan-Yoon Eun Hye posts. As much as I’ve loved them wholeheartedly before, together they are making me love them more. Which is exactly what happened with my Jang Geun Seok-Moon Geun Young love after watching M3.

Last scene of episode 6:

I LOVED this kiss purely on delivery and execution alone. There was no build-up, hence no emotional pay-off. But the satisfaction is all there because Kang Ji Hwan sold it (just look at the way he looks at Eun Hye). Watching this scene out of context actually works best, because then you can actually feel the attraction between Ki Joon and Ah Jung, and not take into consideration that the story hadn’t yet provided the basis for said attraction. This is where a sizzling OTP with great chemistry singlehandedly elevates crappy writing.

Ki Joon: Aunt!

Aunt: Oh, you’re having a party?

Ki Joon: Ah yes, some friends happened to come over.

Aunt: These friends, I don’t think I’ve seen them before.

Ki Joon: Yes…uh, I’ve just met them recently.

Ah Jung: Why are you acting? Even if it’s to tell a lie, it should be me who does it.

Aunt: I just think that there is something going on with that woman (and Ki Joon). Are those two people falling in love?

Ah Jung: What the heck are you doing?

Sang Hee: I think you are mistaken about something.

Manager: You are still the same. Not acting as a brother, but as a father.

Ki Joon: I made a promise to always take care of Sang Hee.

Ah Jung: Is it lonely to live by yourself?

Ki Joon: No.

Ah Jung: Do you like women?

Ki Joon: *pfft*

Ah Jung: A straightforward and serious person suddenly behaves very immaturely, what is the reason for that? Insisting that I go over and clean up. Or coming all the way to my house to look for me.

Yoon Joo: Let’s start over again. We never really broke up.

  1. Good Lord that is some hot kiss….I haven’t started watching this yet but I am trying to ingnore all the peeps that are saying this sucks so I can approach it with an open mind….so I’m glad you like it and this video is defintely encouraging…..btw does anybody know the song that plays in the background?

      • Yes I keep waiting for the guy who will bring me to that kind of kiss hotness….It really takes a lot of conversation for me to get to really fall, fast as I am in analyzing business environment as slow as I am to fall in love….huh it’s I so hard to find a man of character….

this man anyway is dull (character wise in th script) I wish to see tantrums but failed! failed!, Best Love got me on the floor in laughter the guy there knows how to throw a fit….awesome rom com, LTM don’t ruin YEH…. 🙁

  2. wow, yes you are right!! it is better to watch that scene on its own without considering the rest of the story… that kiss was sizzling!!!
i hope LTM isnt the second coming of M3.. i still get nightmares about what happened to M3.. that being said, because we were all so heavily invested on the OTP it was still a fun ride..! i sincerely hope the story gets better as LTM progresses and somehow we’ll find the basis for OTP’s (emotional) connection.

in any case, i still intend to sit back and enjoy the ride, despite it being a (slightly) bumpy and confusing at times!

thanks for posting up all the goodies – not just with LTM but all the rest of the May dramas!! 🙂

  3. wow im so excited for this drama coz its starting to take off..eventhough the story is not that great but we see some sizzling hot chemistry between the two leads…cant wait for the next episode….

  4. wow im so excited for this drama coz its starting to take off..eventhough the story is not that great but we see some sizzling hot chemistry between the two leads…cant wait for the next episode….it was some hot kiss and i hope that there will be more to come…..thanks ockoala for the recaps and updates…

  5. Thanks for posting Le Kiss again Koala! Lawd, it was H-O-T!

I’m really not overthinking LTM and just sitting back and enjoying it, just like I gobbled up Mary and Boys Before Flowers like a deprived crack addict. Except that I can’t really re-watch them cuz everytime I do, I keep going: WTF was I thinking? 😀

  6. Haha, LTM will have higher ratings than Mary’s Night Out. There’s no way it will be that low. That’s because LTM has hit the low point when you check out the live ratings from Neilsen. While other dramas fluctuate in ratings per minute, LTM has almost a straight line ratings for episode 5, with increase in ratings towards the end. Which showed that they didn’t lose ratings in any part of the broadcast. As live ratings showed, LTM was the only drama with increase spike in ratings for the last 10 minutes of Monday dramas. So we knew episode 6 was going to produce higher ratings. I would imagine the effect of kiss scene on ratings will show more on episode 7, after reruns and downloads during the weekends. As for episode 6 regaining double digit ratings, it was mostly based on episode 5.

Marry’s Night Out in comparison didn’t have much cult following. As much as I’ve been a fan of MGY since the beginning of her debut, it was just a disaster. Cult following would have been the Vineyard Man, Sung kyun kwon scandal and You’re beautiful- the three dramas which didn’t do too well in ratings, but was very popular amongst netizens.

Lie To Me will do better than Mary, no matter how bad it is. This is because older viewers are steady watchers, and for whatever the reasons, YEH & KJH both carry some consistent and dedicated older female viewers. Majority of ratings of LTM episode 1~5 came from female viewers age 30 and older. Episode 6 gained some younger viewers of age 30 and below. If the story can improve, it should gain more younger viewers. If story is bad, then at least day have 40 and older viewers. Mary just didn’t have that. By the way, I’m a big fan of MGY and I thought Mary was still pretty good.

    • I forgot to thank you for your recaps and posts.
I haven’t watched this drama since episode 2, but I’ve been able to get a good idea thanks to your post^^ Thanks~!!

    • i dont think LTM is as big of a disaster as MSOAN (agree with you)
if you look at SKKS’s ratings the buzz that drama generated in korea was disproportionately larger than their ratings would reflect.
Plus 13.5% in the final episodes (from a lackluster start of 7%) put it in mainstream territory i think
So i would say Sungkyunkwan scandal started off as a cult hit and grew to achieve a mainstream fanbase,

  7. I understand everyone’s concern that LTM might pull a M3 on us but… Why wouldn’t it pull a 49 Days instead? You know, slow start with a dragging plot that does not seem to go anywhere in the first episodes. Also, there was no real emotionnal build-up between the OTP at the beginning (well, maybe on Kang-ah’s side, but definitely not on Ji-hyun’s, who was much more concerned about other matters).

Also, M3 had to go through the hardship of changing scriptwriter halfway through, which did not help it in making it coherent – and which will hopefully not need to be the case for LTM.

Well, here’s to praying LTM will turn out more like 49 Days, and will hopefully wake up next week to start pacing up the rhythm – and who knows, we might even get actual, coherent emotionnal build up? Aaah, I don’t want to get my hopes too high… Please, do not pull an M3, LTM! I don’t want to drop out of you too!

    • Please do not compare. 49 days had story, had plot. It was just slow in the beggining (because the writter wanted to show us each character live, feeling, thoughts). LTM doesn’t have plot. Is a mess and the writter don’t really have a idea of what to do. In 6 episodes it didn’t really showed us much about story or about the characters (maybe a bit about Ah Jung) it was excuse after excuse to make the OTP together and scenes which weren’t funny (maybe just in the writter’s head)

  8. Finally!!! Lie to Me is pulling the hearts of the viewers… I was practically screaming seeing the last scene of ep 6… I can’t stand it anymore the 1st few episodes are so boring… No development… But this kiss is so random (but I love it:) Hope they will pick up their momentum quickly and make us continue shipping for this OTP…

  9. I like how during the kiss scene, So Ran looks like she forgot all about how much she’s jealous of Ah Jung and was actually really curious about the kiss. She couldn’t look away and you could see that even her heart thumped….

  10. “I LOVED this kiss purely on delivery and execution alone. This is where a sizzling OTP with great chemistry singlehandedly elevates crappy writing.” oh yeah! i agree… very true indeed.:D

      • Who likes who for real?

Ki Joon likes Ah Jung for real? Or Kang Ji Hwan likes Yoon Eun Hye for real?

      • Kang Ji Hwan (the lead ) likes Yoon Eun Hye for real 😉 The acting is flat because of that….YEH is still her silly self….the guy seems so boxed when it comes to emotions…. but the kissing says it all ahahaha 😉

    • Yes, i defintely agree with u too. Amazing.
I wasn’t keen on the drama at first because it a bit predictable and doesn’t make sense/childish. Anyway i gave it chance and found that its building up my interests and i am surely, others are too.
I absolutely screamed like a little girl when he just went in for a kiss and it was a strong one too, hehe both their mics dropped and in front of all.
I think what captures me the most is love is a built up and it just HITS you hard when u come to a realisation u fell for that person… the past flashing up and now.. the butterflies and adrenaline rush. It shows it in Ki Yoon eyes… how the past flashes pass him and the lady Ah Jung so naively cute in front of him… its her. Instantly a he steps in and grabs her for a kiss. Chemistry SPARKS!!!! I can’t wait what happens next. His aunty doesn’t seem evil yet hehe he.

  11. goodness .. how do people not like this drama yet? its actually pretty interesting, and I think I understand what the writer is trying to do in terms of pulling the best elements of other romantic comedies into Lie to me. helpful/loyal friend, past girlfriend, probelmatic older family member whose breathing down your neck about your love life and responsibilities, love contracts, cute mini love story on the side, rivals, the girl you love to hate, etc… honestly I dont understand how people dont like this drama as far as I can tell the writer has a lot of ideas to choose from for the story to get even more fun 🙂 and with an amazing cast you cant go wrong.

      • Disagree with T.T
        Agree with Bella

Guys it’s a fluffy rom-com similar to that of Playful Kiss. It’s encompasses whimsical and nonsensical elements that are meant to be enjoyed rather than analyzed. If you are more partial to serious toned dramas like 49 days, by all mean please watch those. Hell even Best Love/You’re Beautiful defies all logic! In Best Love, how does one woman receive so much public hatred for such petty “scandals” – if you can even call them that. In You’re Beautiful, Go Mi Nyu immaturely continues her charade even after getting discovered. Yet these dramas are endearing, funny, and cute. They say that people who travel on trips without a camera enjoy the trip much more than those with one. If you’re constantly looking through a lens, you are unable to fully experience the colors, beauty, vitality, and atmosphere of the environment. Just relax and enjoy. If not, move on. Simple as that.

  12. OMG! This is awesome! That’s why I so love this Koala! Ockoala, I am so glad we’re on the same page! I love this couple no matter what! Script be damned mwa ha ha! Yes, I’m always in for entertainment and these two entertain, they do! They entertain just by being on the screen really. Effortless. So natural. And now they’re together, that’s really daebak on its own! I’m happy (well, ecstatic with this kiss ha ha). A good script is surely not a bad idea, but well, if it doesn’t exist for now, well, this OTP will do for me…that is to say that if the writer will eventually makes sense out of this story, well then that will just be a bonus. Meanwhile, I’ll just stay happy merely watching these two together. Yes, reminiscent of M3, indeed. About the insanely amount of posts of YEH and KJH in the future? Well, I’ll be looking forward to it, bring it on and let’s be merry! This playground really is one happy place for me!!! Kumapta Ockoala!

  13. Thanks for the recaps and translations! It’s kinda difficult for me to watch because I live here in the Philippines and it’s hard to find sites that already has the subs (since it is still airing). I also hope that the storyline improves, but it is entertaining. And I think the network made a good choice when it comes to actors. YEH and KJH have a good chemistry which really makes their story work.

    • Hi Kababayan ponsettiapolk. Go to dramacrazy.net. They have the episode with subtitles available like two days after it’s shown. I know two days is kind of like forever but well, it’s no use watching it raw. I know, because I did it twice and I’m telling you’d be miserable. You can also go to mysoju.com but dramacrazy gets it earlier. These are both the streaming type though.

      • Hi Larkspur. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll check it out. I just run out of patience most of the time, because of our uber fast internet connections here in the Philippines LOL. I watched ep 5 and 6 raw and what you said was true. It was so hard to appreciate the show because i have no idea what they were talking about. mysoju has the Vikii site and for some reason it was not working in our region ~pffft~

  14. No comment on MSOAN because I never finished it (just read recaps) for whatever reasons… Like you said, I am disappointed that this pairing didn’t get a better script because they could totally hit it out of the park!!! Makes me sad for them actually. I just keep thinking what if they were in a Hong sisters drama (not BL).. But their version of LTM, it would have been amazing!

Anyways, I am watching/enjoying this purely on the characters’ interaction (Sang Hee-Ah Jung, Sang Hee-Ki Joon, Ki Joon-Ah Jung)

  15. Why does that white shirt look so good??? Anyone know what brand so I can get one? Prob cost like 1,000 or something?

  16. I think there will be 3 things that lengthen the time till the OTP get together
    1. the lie
    2. the ex’s
    3. Sang Hee (if he likes Ah Jung too)
of course there might be the aunt but in the romcom kdrama trend, it’s my guess 😛
I agree that the drama needs better plot, but still, i think it’s entertaining, esp after the kiss lol You guys may disagree with me but I think attraction does not have to be emotional one. I think KJ just sees AJ in a different light and at the moment (both bench and singing), the mood is nice enough that they both got caught up in a moment. It does not have to be anything serious 😛

    • I particularly like the curt and swift repartee of Sang Hee with Ah Jung. His delivery were rightly timed that it makes him look charming. There – he is the opposite of his stuck up brother. . . I would like to see how his initial interest with Ah Jung turns to liking or when the comfortable brother-sister act will develop into an angsty filled relationship with the elder brother again. Will this be a three way or a four way act? Let’s wait for the next episodes. . . . Here’s hoping , . . hoping . .

  17. After reading a few reviews, I was hesitant to watch LTM. However, I just marathoned the first 5 episodes, and I Love it. Perhaps because I am only watching it to be entertained, and not for anything else, I can purely enjoy it. Don’t get me wrong, I truly appreciate the fine work of art that Greatest Love is, but I don’t feel that LTM ever set itself up to be anything more than entertainment. The whole “marriage contract” thing sets the drama up to be more entertaining than groundbreaking/mind-blowingly original (which GL potentially could to the entire adult rom-com genre).

M3 disappointed me because it introduced these emotionally deep characters and hinted at having a deeper message to convey (which I think we say in Mary’s voice-over in the last episode), and then utterly failed not only to deliver that message, but to utilize the great characters and actors it had.

LTM makes no such promise. It is purely an enjoyable, sometimes deliciously bitchy, marriage contract rom-com. Now, they could switch the script and pull a M3 and piss me off (i.e., having the OTP nonsensically fight about nothing and almost not end up together – if Geun had died I would’ve flown to Korea to slap someone); but, I hope Koala is wrong, and they don’t. Until then, I’m going to sit back and enjoy the formula and the awesome OTP.

  18. OMO!!!! I so called this last night!!! I knew the aunt was going to walk in on that kiss. Hahahahahah OMG, I knew it. Why else would her routine of going to jeju every weekend change so suddenly? hahahahha Yay, I wanna watch already.

  19. I just have to comment on this. That KISS IS SURE HOTNESS. I couldn’t stop watching it, replaying it over and over.
I haven’t seen any of the episodes yet(because I already used up all my download limit of internet it now it’s back to dial up speed- thanks to asian dramas) but I never miss to wait for live transcap(softy’s), then read Ockoala’s recap first thing in the morning and read jv’s recap in the afternoon. But I’m loving this drama so much even from the beginning. I can’t wait to marathon it when I will have my download speed back in order early next month. Will comment more then when I finally watch it.

  20. We’re both on the same ship when it comes to the script but I don’t know why I keep watching this… I’ll try Best Love… I’ve heard so many positive comments about it.

  21. thanks for the recaps…
Is it just me or i am finding LTM and DTLY almost the same story plot…fake marriages and beginning to like each other…..anyways love both dramas and i am watching them both….cute couples and love the angst of it…can’t wait fro the next episodes..

  22. thanks for the recaps…
Is it just me or I am just finding LTM with similar plot with DTLY…fake marriages and the lead starting to like each other plus all the angst of the story?
anyways i love both drama and can’t wait for the next episodes…and the hotness of kissing wow….can’t wait to see more of them in the coming episodes…

  23. Wow! Now this made me want to take up this drama where I left off. I know, I’m shallow! Hahaha!

YEH can sure heat it up with all his leading men. Maybe KJH really fancies her in real life? They are both single and unattached, am I right?

I wish they writers would really make the story/script more substantial, funnier and wittier. These 2 wonderful actors deserve it! And the audience would love to chew on something more than just fluff and eye-candy 🙂

    Thanks for the post, ockoala.

      • YEH has said numerous times in her interviews that she prefers older guys.

    • We don’t know if their attached right now. For Kang Ji Hwan, probably unattached. I see that he has a little crush on her.

For Yoon Eun Hye, really don’t know if she’s attached. There have been lots of discussions regarding this on other sites. And many are saying that she might be because of hints or maybe we are just reading too much into those so called hints.

We don’t know for sure. And for KJH being too old for her. I think she likes older guys.

    • I think there may be something between these 2 in a lot of interviews Kang Ji Hwan said that he has always wanted to work with Yoon Eun Hye and when he found out that they would in this project, he was really happy. He was making comments at the presscon that meeting YEh is like fate.

In one of the behind the scenes footage, Kang Ji Hwan also said that he thinks Yoon Eun Hye has a great voice and that the’yve gone out together to go karaoke before.

I hope if they aren’t already, they’ll fall inlove just like Eugene and her fiance who fell for eachother during the drama.

if one of them is already attached, so what? They aren’t married yet, a lot of things can happen

  24. how they show the NG for the kiss :* YEH is not afraid to do hot kissing scene! I love this pairing but I am still loyal to YEH-JJH kiss in Goong!if this is hot, Goong is smoldering! YEH is the best!

  25. I know the story is not that convincing, there is something missing in this drama, but still i enjoy every moment, i don’t fast forward at all…It is, as a lot of you said, a fluffy, lighthearted and enjoyable drama…great actors too with great chemistry….I will keep watching it no matter what the others are saying…

Everyone is saying that Great love (Hong’s sister drama) is great and super funny, but seriously, i couldn’t continue watching it..I forced myself throught the first 4 episodes but it wasn’t funny nor entertaining to me..I felt annoyed and bored…Dokko jin was acting so immature for his age, it was embarrassing and not funny, and the leading actress is so annoying…I didn’t like her in Pasta either…I don’t bother reading the recaps either… I have to add that i enjoyed the other dramas of the Hong sisters (GUmiho and the one with the girl disguising herself as a guy,,sorry forgot the name ^^”)…

What i am trying to say is: it is a matter of personal preferences when it comes to enjoying a drama.. Watch then decide to continue to not…Do not judge a drama just becoz of someone else’s opinion…

And Thx a lot Koala for the recaps….

    • I couldn’t agree more! Just because the previous drama of the Hong Sisters became popular (not by rating) doesn’t mean they are good writers. There are just more youngsters who have access to the Net & TVs that their work become popular. Not that great (as in Great Love). I also felt annoyed by the male lead. How did he become a popular idol/actor I couldn’t fathom -he looks way way below ordinary, his attitude sucks/ very immature (DUH!). If we are referring to both the male and female lead actors as washed up old virgins- then they really matched- great love indeed!
