Hayate the Combat Butler with Park Shin Hye and George Hu gets June 19th Air Date

If May was K-drama overload month, then June looks to be TW-drama’s turn to release a batch of new offerings I’ve been keeping an eye on. I’ve already posted about Material Queen premiering on June 17th and Love Keeps Going premiering on June 4th. Now it’s finally been confirmed that Hayate the Combat Butler will be airing on June 19th on FTV (which makes Hayate a Sunday drama going up against Love Keeps Going).

I’m totally excited because Taiwan can do a great manga-adaptation, and I’m hoping Hayate is one of these dramas. Plus it stars Park Shin Hye, who is adorable, and will have the honor of having two new dramas airing at the same time in two countries simultaneously, as her Heartstrings will Jung Yong Hwa will premiere in late June on MBC.

I’ll bring the first trailer when it drops, which should give us a good idea of what to expect – OTT wacky or charmingly off-kilter. Rumors have Shin Hye going to Taiwan in the next few weeks to promote Hayate, so I’ll keep an eye out for that if it does take place.

  1. I am not a fan of George but I do like Park Shin Hye. I think I’ll probably watch this drama rather than material Queen. Also, Koala thanks for the Lie to me recap.

  2. June’s going to be a tough month for PSH if she’s supposed to be promoting in Taiwan and going through the crazy live-shoot for Heartstrings. Hope she stays healthy.

  3. It looks promising 🙂 I haven’t religiously follow any TW drama.. this might be the first and then Absolute Darling.

  4. Wow, Park Shin Hye is getting really popular. The wacky title wasn’t my thing but now I will probably check it out. Will she be speaking Mandarin for Hayate?

  5. Men in women clothing is just gross, not funny, not cute. Not even my #1 idol star Kim Hyun Joong will make me feel differently about it.

  6. i will absolutely watch this drama..it seems funny to me and i would like to see psh in a TW drama and playing a bratty princess…wow, 2 dramas of shinhye this month airing simultaneously in 2 different countries..awesome and i hope that both will be a hit
