In Time With You with Ariel Lin and Bolin Chen to Air on FTV in September

Yay for my Ariel Lin coming back to the small screen soon! Boo for this might very well be the last time she does so. I’m going to savor every second of the upcoming TW-drama In Time With You (Chinese title I Might Not Love You) starring Ariel and Bolin Chen. Ariel stated in an interview last month that after this drama wraps, she’s not planning to take any projects and wants to rest. Speculation in the industry is that Ariel might be heading towards matrimony with her long-time boyfriend. If she phases out acting I’ll miss her so so much.

FTV just announced that it will be airing In Time With You on September 18, 2011, which means this drama will be following Hayate the Combat Butler. This also means good friends and back-to-back Golden Bell Best Actress winners Ariel and Rainie Yang will be going up against each other, since CTV has announced that Rainie and Wu Zun‘s Sunshine Angel will air in September following the completion of Mike He‘s Love Keeps Going.

The first plot outline for ITWY is out and I’ve translated it below. I find it fresh and interesting. PD for this drama will be Director Winnie (Qu You Ning) who directed Ariel and Joe Cheng in It Started With A Kiss and They Kiss Again, and also helmed The Rose and Sweet Relationship. He’s an awesome PD, so we’re in for a treat.

Ariel plays Chen Yo Qing (30 years old), manager of a department store shoe department. Has dated a few guys, ending up heartbroken and exhausted by it all. On her 30th birthday, she’s still alone, and reminded that she’s considered on-the-shelf now. Faced with HIM, the only person who sincerely wishes her a happy birthday, she makes a bet – whoever gets married first before their 35th birthday, the other has to pay NT 100,000.

She starts to suss out all the single guys around her, as Project Screw On-the-Shelf Bid Farewell to Singlehood gets underway. She’s open to any possibility, from cute young things to older established men who can take care of her. Who says a woman over 30 can’t find a guy who wants her!

HE is Lee Da Ren (played by Bolin Chen), the ground operator for an airline. Accomplished at an young age, he’s had quite a few girlfriends but all for a short period of time each. Two people, who since high school have never gotten along, find themselves oddly always together, ending up as best friends who vow never to fall in love with each other.

He once said to her “I might not love you”, to which she replied “thank god, I really appreciate it.”

He doesn’t know why, but his sole criteria in any future girlfriend, is that the girlfriend must accept the presence of HER in his life.

He doesn’t know why he can’t ever stop worrying about her.

He doesn’t know why his world keeps getting caught up in hers.

Is it because they are too much like family…..so they can’t be together?

He once wrote a song, horribly out of tune. He loudly sings it, really its for her to hear.

A long long time later, she finally discovers that “I might not love you” is actually…….”I love you”?

  1. I can’t wait!!! Hopefully this will not be her last, cause I was looking forward to more of her dramas in the future!!!

  2. Totally did not know that Ariel has a longtime boyfriend. Either she’s kept it under wraps very, very well, or I just never keep up with the Taiwanese entertainment news. Probably the latter. I do want to see her continue working, though. I wonder if she comes back to work, will she shed her young and cute image for a more mature and adult one? She’s been transforming into a beautiful woman of late. Maybe it’s love? 😉

  3. =) I have to see it, I also take this opportunity to enjoy the actiación Ariel: D she is my favorite actress Tw-drama

  4. I actually like the plot… I think I’ll watch out for this one… ^^

I wish Ariel will be back after her rest. She’s my fave TW female star. ^^

  5. this kind of sounds like the kdrama Bottom of the 9th with 2 Outs, which i very much enjoyed. ariel lin is also pretty awesome, so i’ll be keeping an eye out on this one too. thanx for the little summary, koala!

    • I was just thinking that. my fav. drama back again. But i kind of never liked Ariel Lin… Maybe now its time to change my mind 🙂

    • My first thought is the same… 🙂 But here is involved with a bet 🙂 so a bit different.. I am sure Ariel Lin can pull it off …

  6. I’m sad this going to be Ariel’s last drama. I read an article a few weeks ago that she was going to stop acting in dramas because her health was declining. 🙁

  7. Director Winnie is absolutely is one of the best Asian PDs ever…I’m watching this for him and Ariel…it would suck if Ariel leaves the entertainment biz 🙁 …the plot sounds interesting as well..I love stories where people fall in love with their best friends…..I want this to work!!!!!!!!

  8. Oh noes! It’ll be sad if she quits acting. Then again, if that’s her dream and she’s happier not acting, that’ll be good for her

  9. I don’t watch to many Taiwanese dramas, but I do really like Ariel Lin. I really liked her in ISWAK even though her character was annoying!!! 😛 But she’s a very talented actress, and has something very genuine about her that makes you like her 😉 well then again if i could afford to have a rest for a while and not work, i wouldn’t hesitate 😛
Anyways this drama seems fun might check it out thanks for the translation 😀

  10. ariel lin and bolin chen!!!!! yey for awesomeness!!!! haven’t seen any of bolin chen’s works except for Blue Gate and I loved him there. i’m a big fan of Ariel Lin. I’ve watched almost all her TW dramas. this is gonna be so awesome, it’s so hard to contain my excitement.

  11. If this is her last drama, I’d be soo sad. 🙁 How times FLIES! I remember her when she was really young (and me too). I hope marriage won’t stop her from pursuing her career but she also had some health issues so rest is very good. Hope she gets to do whatever she wants 🙂 I love her acting. I’ll be sure to watch this. I actually haven’t seen her in a drama in a long time.

  12. OH MY GAH!!!
Not taking anymore projects? Might be getting married?
It seems as if I still had a little light still burning for….well *ahem* I wish her the best, cuz I love her.

Anyways…This drama sounds sooo good. The best guy for you is always the one you cant stand right up front. heheh :)–at least in tv world. I would say that its about 30% true in RL.

  13. After a long while I get to see Ariel Lin again!!! Am excited with this drama, I have always find the “friends-to-lovers” plot pretty cute… Oh can’t wait… But I do feel sad to know she’s “resting” from showbiz after this… Oh well, I wish her happiness in whatever she decides to do…

  14. i must say i have a new appreciation of Rainie and Ariel after they matured. I found them a little annoying back 5-10 years ago.
