First Preview of In Time With You Starring Ariel Lin and Bolin Chen

2011 is turning out to be a banner year for TW-dramas. I’m not kidding, because I thought the previous two years were pretty much crap with the exception of Black & White. Whereas this year has given me three awesome TW-dramas in a row: Sunny Happiness, Drunken to Love You, and Material Queen. But it’s not done yet, because I foresee a fourth drama to joining the illustrious ranks of those three beloved dramas of mine – the upcoming In Time With You with Ariel Lin and Bolin Chen, helmed by Director Winnie (The Rose, It Started With A Kiss, They Kiss Again).

As much as this year I’ve loved leading ladies Janine Chang, Rainie Yang, and Lynn Xiong, my personal goddess of all TW-actresses remains Ariel. Based on the first full four-minute preview for ITWY, she does not disappoint. This drama looks like an honest depiction of modern love and hits me right in the gut. I feel it – the angst, the insecurity, the feeling that time waits for no one and it’s ever so hard to take the first step. Ariel has amazing chemistry with ALL her male leads, and this time it’s no exception with Bolin. If ITWY does turn out to be Ariel’s last drama or even last acting project, I will cry copious tears and cherish what looks to be a phenomenal final project from her. Enjoy the trailer below with English subs (courtesy of TKA Subbers – ArJoe fans are the BEST).

Four-minute preview for In Time With You:

I love the literal translation of the Chinese title “I Might Not Love You”, which is what Lee Da Ren (Bolin) says to Chen You Qing (Ariel) when they are just in high school. They first cross paths when they are running for class president, and she wins by one vote. They are forever linked as class president and vice-president, and fifteen years as best friends later, it’s like neither has ever dared to cross that line. Because of that throwaway line he says to her when he was young and foolish – it’s not possible for me to love you. I have a feeling that ITWY will be TW-dramas version of 9 Ends 2 Outs, where two opposite sex best friends can’t take the first non-platonic step forward. I can’t wait!

  1. Both actors seem amazing and there’s a great chemistry.I loved Ariel in ISWAK and They kissed again and it comes from a feminist.Did someone liked Love contract?i didn’t watch it yet.
Hope she will sing in this drama .

    • I adore Love Contract…it was filled with long spaces but I did enjoy the drama…those the last two episodes does leave one VERY upset and wailing “WHY?!” The interaction of the two leads in the last episode and the ending does KIND of make up for it.

      • Well as for me I did like the series… But the ending totally ruined it for me and made me regret ever watching it!!! It was soo unnecessary!!!

  2. Wow. This looks more like a film than a tv drama. And as usual, Ariel’s performance knocks it out of the ballpark. Looks promising!

  3. Ariel Lin is the princess of TW dramas. And I’m so happy she’s back. And so sad if it’s gonna be her last. 🙁 That “Ariel has amazing chemistry with ALL her male leads” is so spot on, I can’t even believe it. They have chemistry all right and I’m excited for this one. Hope it’s memorable too! 😀

    • Totally I agree with you and with what ockoala said!!!! I don’t watch that many Taiwanese dramas but Ariel’s acting sure is memorable in everything I’ve watched her in:)

    • yup, even i’ve felt that… & in a similar story 2…

& is ariel lookin better & better as she ages??? she & rainie are looking more and more gorgeous with each new drama they shoot…

  4. oh ariel lin im glad she is back…….and im just curious more because the director is the same as my all time favorite twd iswak n the rose

  5. she is my fave taiwanese actress so excited to watch this drama and im hoping this will not be the last…she has amazing chemistry with her co actors,,,

  6. This preview looks good, and I love the background song already!

I think I’ve found the drama to cure my withdrawal symptom once I finish Scent of a Woman, yay! 🙂

  7. Yes. It’s Ariel Lin! I’m so gonna watch the drama. The storyline looks promising. I agree with you, Capt. K. This drama reminds me of 9 Ends 2 Outs. Pretty much the same. I can’t wait for the premiere. ^^

  8. Ooh, this looks really good. I kind of hope it’s even better than 9 Ends 2 Outs. As much as I liked that drama, it was just a little too slow and meandering for me. This looks like it’ll hold my attention better with this gap of 15 years.

  9. Ivdont like the guy neither am i supa dupa a fan of the girl but because the 4 minute trailer looks really interesting Im going to watch especially the last part, that was cute.

  10. woah!!! my favorite taiwanese actress of all time. how i missed her so much and glad to see her back though it might be for the last time. she’s indeed always has amazing chemistry with all her male leads. how i wished her to be mike he’s gf for real when i watched love contract, then with joe cheng in iswak and wu zun in tokyo juliet. but those are mere dreams now. *sigh*

  11. I hope it isn’t Ariel last project… 🙁 it seems a really good twdrama. I love friends who love each other but don’t take the step to become lovers…. weeeeeee.

  12. I super love Ariel too! I can’t wait for this drama ever since you mentioned it before. 🙂 I hope this wouldn’t be her last project. It’s okay for me if she’ll get married, I’ll be extremely happy for her… but I don’t want her to disappear from the industry because she’s a great actress and she’d be a huge loss. I think this girl has some kind of magic that she can play whatever role you give her.

I love the plot too. 🙂 Nothing beats good friends falling in love along the way. I can totally relate to that. Haha! XD

  13. ariel lin + possible tw version of 9E2O?! gah, totally sold. i LOVE friendship turns relationship stories. <3 thanks for sharing the news and the trailer ms. koala 🙂 🙂 🙂

  14. OMG… Is this really T drama. The preview looks amazing. I agree it does look like a movie. I am so so very very excited. Ariel is back… YaY…

Well i did something before commenting. Ariel is such a darling, so i had to check out Wison Chen Bolin. Damn he is amazing, he has this cutest smile. I can’t help myself from smiling. Right now i am watching his Japanese drama.

P.S can someone suggest me his best work.. Please.

  15. Just saw the trailer and fell in love with it….Ariel is one of those actress that can’t do no wrong in my book and here she nails it, she is playing a very mature, confident career woman and I just love it and add the love/friendship romance in to the mix it just awesome. Plus we get Wennie to direct that the biggest plus ever and is it befitting that Wennie is directing her last drama?…I hope Ariel comes back in couple of years and she is just taking a personal break from the entertainment media.

  16. Me too. I love Ariel. Director Winnie always fabulous. I wonder if he has a cameo in this one.

I really hope it’s not Ariel last drama… but whatever she decides, I wish nothing but the best for her and hope that she can be healthy and happy.

  17. I’m a sucker for realistic story themes such as this one. I love simplicity. Though I was a bit sadden that Ariel didn’t do the live adaptation of the anime/manga Skip Beat (Extravagant Challenge) , I’m glad that she chose to do something more meaningful. Thanks for the heads up! I’ll definitely check this one out :).

  18. That trailer looks AMAZING! I haven’t been this excited from a preview in a while, but everything looks perfect. I’ve always been a fan of Ariel, and her chemistry with Chen Bolin is off the charts in that video. That woman is such a great actress, I hope she finds a way to continue her career.

    Thanks for sharing!

  19. Long…long…time ago I stop to watched C/T-drama coz for me the story not realistic and i don’t like their acting (no offense, it’s just my opinion), but bcoz of you Ms. Koala, I’ve watched it again, hehehe. I watched Drunken To Love You (even though I just watched the beginning, I still need more time to regain my interest into C/T-drama) and also Sunny Happiness (even though, again, I didn’t survive to watched it till the end), so far I just totally watched Autumn Concerto (I think it’s a sweet and caring drama, like it). Again, it’s just my opinion, but…………watching this trailer makes me feel “i need this drama”, LOL. Just as you said it’s “an honest depiction of modern love”, felt so real to me, like it and what interest me more coz u said it’s like a T-drama version of 9 Ends 2 Outs (this is the best K-drama I’ve watched, I keep watch it again and again and I don’t feel bored). Hope ITWY could be as good as 9E2O, happy…..

  20. Sounds promising. I’m still looking for a series to replace DTLY. I’ve not watched Ariel Lin or Bolin Chen act before. So, hope to read more about them and ITWY.

  21. So many reasons to watch it:
    1. pretty poster
    2. amazing trailer
    3. Ariel Lin (she and Joe Chen Qiao En are my favorite TW actresses)
    4. promising story
    and
    5. Director Winnie (he really knows how to tell a reflective story. The last thing of his that I watched was Prince Princess 2…though I only watched it until that drama was handed off to another director. 2 years later, I’m still pissed at the director change!)

I really hope Ariel stays to do more dramas!!

  22. Why do you say this might be Ariel final project? Because I will cry with if it is! She has to be one of my all time favorite actresses. When does this drama come out?

  23. I’m so torn! I love Ariel and while I admit I’m looking forward to this drama, part of me actually is hesitant. Why does the plot sound like the drama’s about me and my high school bestie? It brings too many painful memories!

  24. Ariel has great charisma, but I can’t stand how she does crying scenes. They’re all super screechy and OTT. I usually end up wanting her to shut up rather than feeling connected with her pain.

  25. CHEN BO LIN!!! I hope this will be his breakout drama, his acting in Blue gate Crossing was purely BRILLIANT!

Ariel is going to all the greatness she is. 😀

  26. I hate this. I hate this. Every time Koala mentions a great drama, it really does turn out as amazing that I am compelled to watch it despite having no free time whatsoever. And so, another drama is added to my “To Watch List.” *cries at it all*

(Also, this may be the first time I’ve seen Ariel’s character beautifully dressed and made-up in a series. Huzzah for that!)

  27. The Prinsesa of the Villa, Mei, thanks you for spreading the Ariel and Joe love around. I’ve sort of bent her arm into taking out her whip of subbing love for Ariel’s new movie. She said because Joe broke her heart she’s not going to use her powers of subbing for the Ariel’s drama and is leaving it up to viki. TT

Oh well… at least you know the movie will be subbed.

  28. Ariel is retiring. TT Well, semi-retirement. She’ll come out for exceptional scripts, but due to the way that Taiwan handles its actors (not much better than Korea) she said she’s heading for Taiwan’s Broadway to make her living. She wrote it in a post on her blog….

Her main complaints are the manufactured truth about her relationship with her boyfriend. And then she’s also concerned highly about the fact that her health doesn’t do well when she’s filming on tight schedules. So since the filming is done, she’s decided to retire… NOOOO. I understand, but still…

I’m going to miss her! If you need the translation ask Mei at TKA Subbers.

  29. It only took me 4 minutes to fall in love…

And the background song’s lovely. Anyone knows what it is or is it to be released as part of the OST (not really familiar with Taiwanese dramas)?
