Song Joong Ki Turns Broody for the January Edition of Ceci Magazine

Who wants more Song Joong Ki? Uh, that would be me and every other grabby lady out there. It’s alright, he has enough talent to go around. For the January 2012 edition of Ceci Magazine, Joong Ki goes grouchy, grumbly, and introspective. The movie Wolf Boy just started filming last week, and he and co-star Park Bo Young expressed their enthusiasm for this project and eagerness to commence filming. The blurb for the movie confirms that it’s not a fantasy teen wolf scenario, but instead about a boy raised by wolves who needs to learn to return to human society. Park Bo Young runs into this wolf boy when she goes to the mountains for a research project, and of course the two fall in love. I never knew the Tarzan-esque romance was still popular. I hope it works in a modern context, and none of those man beast save me from danger type of scenarios.

Song Joong Ki Turns Broody for the January Edition of Ceci Magazine — 16 Comments

  1. Love this guy — whether in this somber mood or playing the effervescent Yong Ha in SKKS. And not to forget the excellent portrayal as the young King Sejong in Tree with Deep Roots.

  2. He’s trying to channel Yoo Ah In, I think, but Song Joong Ki does pouty better than fierce and angsty. It’s not my favorite photoshoot, and those leather pants are rather unfortunate, but whatever, he’s still quite adorable while he’s being all sad and tortured.

It is interesting, though, that he looks so genuinely depressed and melancholy in these pictures. Most actors/models/idols put on artifices of emotion for these photoshoots; Joon Ki here makes me want to usher him into my house and feed him soup and prod him into a therapist’s office. If the intent of these photos was to stop one minute short of genuinely distressing me…mission accomplished, I guess?

As for the movie about him playing a wolf-boy…Uh, I was a linguistics major for a while, and I’ve done some extensive reading on sociolinguistics and so-called “wild children” and their capacity for language development and their capacity for socialization. And while psycholinguists and neurobiologists will argue about whether or not bypassing the critical period dooms to the child to never learning proper speech, all I’ve got to say is I’ve read several harrowing accounts of children suffering inhumane treatment during their early years. I don’t think I’ll be able to watch this movie. I don’t think it’s romantic at all.

  3. LOVE the mirror one, I wish the picture was bigger and better quality so I could really admire it. ~goes off to stalk the internet looking for high res ones~

  4. the blurb for the movie confirms that it’s not a fantasy teen wolf scenario, but instead about a boy raised by wolves who needs to learn to return to human society.
Really?!!!…sigh…but then again this could be about sparkly vampires…..well eitherways its SjK and PBY…I’ll watch

  5. I wish Song Joong Ki would pop out from my dresser drawer too…

*frantically opens all dressers and cupboards in the house* Joongki-ya, yooohoooo~ where are you?

  6. I agree. This doesn’t sound 2012 as much as 1932:
“a boy raised by wolves who needs to learn to return to human society. Park Bo Young runs into this wolf boy when she goes to the mountains for a research project, and of course the two fall in love.”

SJK is sooooooo smart, you can see it in his eyes. I imagine the wordless communication between the leads will be something amazing.

  7. He is so not “beastly” or in this case “wolfy” as all! A small pup maybe but beast/wolf-man!? But who am I kiddin’, I’ll still watch anything he’s in. And I happen to adore Park Bo-Young as well 🙂

  8. I can’t wait for this movie. I can totally see him going fierce, completely feral, frightened, snarling, and confused. Oh, this is going to be the role of a lifetime for him! And he soooo will bring it! There’s enough boyish vulnerability to lend a double-edged poignancy to everything that he might do as feral boy.

But damn, isn’t he pretty! Really! It’s rather unbelievable how pretty he is.
