The Moon that Embraces the Sun Releases Teaser and BTS Filming

When did Yeo Jin Gu‘s voice change? He sounds like a man, and not a kid on the cusp of manhood. The first teaser for The Moon that Embraces the Sun is out, and I almost did a double take since the kids are striking me as remarkably adult already. Poised and animated, they start off this drama with such a playful and colorful vibe. A great childhood portion for a drama can sometimes be the most memorable for me, with a combination of great acting that might even surpass their adult counterparts and a story that is especially fascinating to watch.

The picture above is from the prayer ceremony for the drama. While I know Jung Il Woo has just finished filming Flower Boy Ramyun Shop and hasn’t been on set like Kim Soo Hyun has, it’s a little weird that we haven’t seen a peep of leading lady Han Ga In. That might explain the random rumor that she was withdrawing from the drama, which the production has shot down as untrue. I really like the lively aura of the first teaser, and I’m sure the dynamite child actors will keep me interested in this drama until the adults show up.

The Moon that Embraces the Sun Releases Teaser and BTS Filming — 25 Comments

  1. Haven’t read much about this drama but considering that Jung Il Woo and Kim So Hyun is going to be acting in it, the drama has promise to be good! On the acting side at least (if the storyline fails), since both of them are really good actors. 🙂

    • Me too, I also think that a drama with Jung Il woo is promising. His acting skills are becoming more and more impressive each drama I watch.

  2. Thanks for these!
Is it too early for me to say this will be my favorite drama of 2012?
    Really?
OK. Hopes have been reined in.
Minho grows up to be Cha Chi Soo
Little BDS grows up to be Samdong.
Same guy that wrote the adorable first episodes of SKKS – If he has figured out why the end was so suck, and how to avoid that happening to this script then…
    HOPES have been raised again!

  3. i like the female and male child actors. they both really are talented and played in so many historical dramas already.vbut yeah, when did that kid had time to grew up without us noticing?
anyway the teaser makes me think of sungkyungkwan scandal.

    • she’s from revenge of the gumiho child w/ lee min woo (younger version of Jung Il-woo in here) … she was also the younger version of Dong Yi

  4. Only two more weeks! And yeah, the lack of Han Ga In is a little strange.. Plus I am worried for Jung Il Woo’s sanity.. o.O

    • yeahhhhh am with you in this wish….Han Ga In, tho really pretty, would be too old for the male leads… oh well…am liking too much the younger versions…they are very good actors indeed… am sure KSH and JIW will deliver…my only concern is that they will eat HGI alive in the acting department…yikes!!!

  5. I have also been wondering where Han Ga In is. I’ve only seen photos of Kim Soo Hyun at the set and with the younger cast. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if they change the actress, but then again it would be very last minute… So far, last minute has yet to result in anything good.

Anyways, I am looking forward to this drama. I don’t mind childhood portions as long as they’re done right. For instance, in Giant, I thoroughly enjoyed the early episodes of the drama and rewatched it as well 🙂

  7. It’s kinda weird that the kids are not really kids any more and the adult counterparts are not really adult yet (or look like one). Don’t know why but Han Ga In feels more like Kim Soo Hyun’s noona to me, Sam Dong is still in (dream) high school!

  8. ok., i’m getting worried if they havent started filming the adult portion at all.
i read from dangermousie, the adult part will only start after ep6, so that make sense.
but 6 episodes long of child story, that doesnt make much sense either. unless they alternate between flashbacks and the present.

on the upside, if its because HGI wants to withdraw from the drama, honestly i think its not too late for the production to find someone else, who can look more compatible with KSH and JIW. YSY can play his role effectively in Me too, Flower eventhough he was a late addition.

nevertheless, i hope they can start filming the adult part soon. i dont wish for them to be in the live-shoot so early in the drama. i am anticipating this one so much i want so bad for it to be good, gah!

the sight of KSH in the bts makes me giddy already, can.not.wait! please be good!

    • No kidding. Just seeing him on screen at all is a treat.
I imagine he will look amazing all saguek’ed out with the silk and the beads.
Pretty sure that takes my level of crazy beyond the point of no return as far as my family is concerned…Oh well. Can’t wait!

      • hrmm… if they have TWO HOT Waterfall Shower Scenes… I will be a happy camper.. Please kdrama gods make it happened.. aigoo… wow…. the boy from Giant/WBDS have grown a lot and so does the girl from dong yi too…. hrmm… if only they get rid of Ha Ga In and some another great actress.. i will be happy…

      • i bet you have seen this
        http://dangermousie.livejournal.com/2402284.html
        he DOES look amazing.

but seriously, i read that HGI’s management said she will have costume fitting this week and will start filming next year.
omg, what are they doing? at that time, the drama will be on broadcast already *sigh* why is the progress seems so slow, i dont have a good feeling about it.

and i guess we really have to wait for 6 episodes before we finally see our kim soo hyun back. thats freaking too long!!
but yeah, better than nothing. can not waaiiiiit~

    • Don’t worry. I’ve been reading the novel, and I think the kids’ scenes are pretty important and very interesting/swoonworthy. I’ve been giggling like a schoolgirl while reading them, curled up in my bed. And with those child actors, they can’t grow wrong!

  9. I can’t wait. I’ve been waiting for this since SKKS and KSH is a big plus for me watching this. I agree, Han Ga-in seems too old for the 2 leads. I wish they got someone younger. But let’s just wait.

  10. I’m squeeling like pig just seeing Kim Soo Hyun again…..missed him!!!! also damn if Yeo Jin Goo hasn’t grown….he’s going to be a noona killer isn’t he??…..i refuse to join he ICOMYM…*gulps*

  11. I am definitely anticipating this one since I’m in full sageuk mode 🙂 But someone did mention the 6 episodes of the young-uns being a bit long and I agree – that’s quite a bit for a series that is only 24 episodes.

Hmm… the teenagers grow up into 20s somethings? It looks like the guys who play the younger version vs KSH & JIW aren’t a lot younger looking then them. I am a sucker for a good romance esp those between people who knew each other as kids, since usually the childhood friend becomes the 2nd evil wheel. anyhow, despite all the follies of SKKS – I loved it so I’m sure I will like this one too 🙂

Can’t wait to see how this one turns out.
