Yoon Eun Hye Presents at the Asia Film Awards with Andy Lau

I wouldn’t be surprised if Yoon Eun Hye picks a HK movie as her next project. She attended this past weekend’s 6th annual Asia Film Awards and presented an award with veteran HK superstar Andy Lau. When asked by the local press, she revealed that she would love a chance to work with a HK director. I guess it all makes sense when you take into account her increased activities in China and Hong Kong this past year. I would love for her to do a period HK movie, but one where she works with a solid director and the character is well-written. For her appearance at the AFA, I though she looked healthy and lovely in a chic strapless black dress with gold platform sandals. Andy can never look bad in a tux, and he definitely doesn’t look his age at all still.

  1. She’s lovely, she’s one of my favorite korean actress, hope she choose a HK movie for her next project. Would like to see her soon in a drama. ^^

  2. Andy lau looks soo short next to her.. and I know YEH isn’t that tall with heels on but still he looks very tiny.. besides that they both look very good. 🙂

  3. Wow she looks amazing! Thank you for updating us about her Koala 🙂

I’m glad that she got to meet Andy Lau 🙂 She took a picture with Japanese actor Odagiri Joe that she posted on her Twitter account too ^^

By the way, earlier this week, there was a released (paparazzi) picture of her with Song Seung Hun and Lee Byung Hun taken at LBH birthday in July 2011…

I wonder how they now each other. I’ve been a big fan of Eun Hye these past few years, but I didn’t know that she was friends with them <3 I hope to see her work with one of them (or both!) some day ^__^

    • Omo! i saw the pic YEH w/ SSH! are they dating???????? I dunno but i suddenly feel sad.. twas like my heart is breaking apart upon seeing it! I just love YEH to be w/ KJH in real life! Otoke???! huhuhu. :'( I’m a HWANHYE shipper!

  4. Ermmmm…

I love me a well written HK period movie by a solid director AND a well written female character way more than I love YEH and would want it in the solid hands of a C young actress like a Zhang YuQi who can do it justice. I honestly don’t think YEH is talented enough for that precious role, IF it will ever pop up.

    • Emmmm I think its up to the director to decide if she has enough talent for that prescious role or not. You may not think she has the talent, but directors do.

Yoon Eun Hye already turned down Tong Que Tai she was chosen as the leading lady to act with Chow Yun Fat. So obviously the director saw enough talent to cast her alongside a chinese superstar…at least enough talent to gamble on her, when they could have chosen other korean stars.

      • My opinion is mine, urs is urs and to my eyes her looks is too modern and way out of place for a proper C period and it’ll take a miracle for her in acting to carry the load and I don’t see any hint of that in her recent works.

The peeps making profit margins wanna bet on that, fine, I care about genuine quality and my enjoyment as an audience. I don’t care if she’s cast in a TongQueTai (frankly ChowYunFat is not a shining beacon for picking quality work last decade) but when it’s a rare beast such as a well written HK period? A (rarer) decent director at that? AND a well written female role in the mix (I can’t rem last I see one) I would much prefer it in better talent and I don’t see IF such a combo of clearly an eye on quality would be so $ minded to have a non-proven in Cperiod actress to be in the mix.

      • I guess we’ll see about that when that time comes shall we? Its a bit unfair to judge her when she hasn’t even done it yet. But then again even if she ends up succesfully doing it, there are still people who will critique even without watching that particular work, because of their preconseived notions.

if its all about profit margins, there are other korean actresses who can fill the spot not just her.
Recent works like her last 2 dramas? Still did better than the train wreck Wild Romance. 2 dramas out 5 not doing as great as her others still not bad and not enough to judge her future works.

      • Fact for @whut you better get used to it. YEH fans are used to it by now.

Fact is, most people will always broadcast Yoon Eun Hye’s failure, but whisper her success.

I noticed that she is the most bullied korean celebrity always getting critized even for the dumbest of reasons like the bus ride incident, her height and her weight like netizens and reporters calling her fat. Poor girl can’t even breathe!

I think she is too good that’s why. You have to be a bit shameless and somewhat evil in this industry. She should stop accepting drama offers out of loyalty to the PD’s coz that’s what f’d her up big time. She’s way too nice and needs to learn to say the word like ‘NO’ this time I will pick my own drama and won’t do a certain project just because I pity the director.

      • Our difference is: You think it’s a fact her last 2 dramas r better then WR. When imo WR is one of the best written K love story I’ve seen last year, and you call it train wreck…based on ratings I suppose?! Which I don’t care a lick.

Why the heck does WR has anything to do with YEH and her lack of suitability in a well written HK period?! Other than spitting vitrol over unconcerned parties?! I hate dragging stuff not involved into a convo, unlike you.

And you r not getting my point, you wanna see it and give it a try. I don’t. It’s not fair, but when I don’t see even a slight chance of her proving me wrong, based on how horrible I think she is in her last 2 works I’ve seen and more, set aside the lousy writing and everything else. I don’t need to see it to give her a chance. I just need non-competent actor to stay away from projects so rare to come by and I most probably will care.

That said, I have no prob of her being in 99% of the HK/C period stuff out there because that 99% is sth I wasn’t going to care about anyway. Most of you can enjoy her sashaying in it, I can for my sanity stay away, not lured by decent writing and directing and a solid female role ruined.

      • I do think her last 2 dramas were better than Wild Romance. To me Wild Romance was indeed a train wreck and ratings aside, the acting of both leads didn’t help. Way too much overacting and the story was over the top. Why can’t I bring up Wild Romance, when you feel you can bring up YEH’s past projects? All I did was make a comparison of her 2 projects to Wild Romance which I thought was a total wreck.

Yes thanks for letting me enjoy the work of the Best Actress recepient in Baeksang. I shall await her sashaying in a well-produced Hong Kong drama someday. Toodles!

  5. thanks for this Captain!

i dont mind eun hye doing a HK project this year on the basis of what you said, good story and good director! she looks sooooooooooooo pretty and elegant! andy and her were cute together 🙂

  6. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Yoon Eun Hye picks a HK movie as her next project…she revealed that she would love a chance to work with a HK director”

I think it’s just a matter of time that she will star in an international project. It’s amazing (for me) that despite how much she’s got bashes (from a certain people & certain bloggers) she still shine internationally. She won many polls as the most hallyu star. So I don’t care about what the naysayers said.
Anyway thanks Mrs Koala for posting YEH’s article. You’re just one of a few (blogger) who didn’t always “judge” her 🙂

  7. Thanks so much for this Captain K!

I will (shyly) admit that Andy is my favorite idol (well, back when he was an idol) and has been since i was a kid – now that’s a really really long time now. LOL So when I saw the headline… I got all excited!! 🙂 Andy!! Yippee! Looking good as always – esp dressed up 😉

I also like YEH. I do think she’s very pretty and definitely has talent. I’m not blinded to some of her weaknesses, but she has an undeniable charisma that just draws people to her. I’d love to her see her in a HK/Chinese flick… but most of the time, the “international” casting films disappoint me. So I say, good luck to her and hope it all goes well for her.

  8. yoon eun hye is very talented a great actress, not that always criticize and praise his effort and talent, she should be at his young age has accomplished much more than others in her life, she has the potential to make movies and make them a success, what is happening in his last two plays she has been very good and loyal to the directors and therefore chose not good scripts, so the people instead of admiring cirtica that besides being a beautiful woman on the outside is even more beautiful inside. I’m waiting for your next project be it a movie or a drama as always I will decepsionar. and about his presentation it looked beautiful and radiant and handsome andy, they look great together.

  9. thank you very much for publishing koala sr good news about eun hye and posting crap about her weight, height and stupidities of antifans so jealous.
yoon eun hye as beautiful as ever, I’ll be happy if many do a movie in HK, I’ll wait to see her, she is one of the best actresses in Korea. she definitely has the talent, charisma and potential to be anything to be a success.

  10. Yeh is beautiful because of her natural beauty. I love the fact that her teeth is not superstar straight like other actors who straighten out their teeth or get plastic surgery to fit the image of a super star. One of the few who has enough confidence in herself not to change herself.

    • Yay!!!!!!!!! Others that love him too?? 🙂 Yippee!!!

I was going to say that there are a lot of comments here only focused on her (much deserved as well)… so I must have been the only one to comment on him.

  11. Andy is just the right size. It’s her who’s huge. Broad footballer shoulders and huge face and big feet. She made her leading man in My Fair Lady look so tiny. She looks best with Gong Yu in CP.

  12. Honestly. someone who calls miss Yoon Eun Hye an incompetent actress must have been drinking too much HATERADE.

How can Yoon Eun Hye, who is supposedly incompetent and has no talent whatsoever, beat over 300 international actors and be chosen as the only South Korean actress to make it as one of the top 10 finalist for Best Actress at the Montecarlo International Festival?!

Like seriously… saying that she is incompetent is no longer in the constructive criticism, unbiased category. It’s just plain hatred and purposely being vile about it!

    • wrong spelling, should be hatred. obviously, even I am not big fan of her, who cares. if haters like that way, be it. she is still popular and better for you to support her rather than wasting time thinking about the haters. they will never change, right?

  13. er, I didn’t know where else to ask this, and this seemed as good a place as any, but Ms Koala, whatever happened to your recaps of Black and White? I started the drama, loved it, it had a CBS prime time feel to it (and I’m a huge fan of NCIS and Criminal Minds). but I can’t find the last half of your recaps, did you stop b/c of the movie? please finish it, please?

  14. YEH was my first favourite k-actor and I still adore her. I agree she is both talented and naturally pretty. I don’t understand any fans haterade as she has shown professionalism and loyalty. I look forward to any of her new projects.

ANDYYYYYY! Him and Tony Leung remind me of my childhood.

  15. Nice pairing! Andy looks yummy like candy! I’ve been a fan for years. YEH is a fave of mine, too…despite her lackluster projects of late. I’ll always watch whatever she’s in.

  16. I love Yoon Eun Hye, she is one powerful Hallyu Star and it produces envy in many people. She is Talented, Beautiful and very Charismatic so every day gains in popularity.

  17. We just love YEH and thats it. She entertains me, my husband and my family the most.
She introduced us to korean drama, and we are hooked. Just YEH dramas
of course! Thank you ms. koala for always updating us on YEH.

  18. I have seen males, who are from the music world, do period pieces and can’t act a lick, but because they are idolized as pop singer and are males, they get great reviews, go figure that one. Sounds like mookie doesn’t like YEH, which is her/his right. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I for one am glad I stumbled onto Asian dramas….Being a romantic comedy lead is more difficult, in my opinion, many actors just don’t have the talent to pull it off, so they try other venues and always come back to where the money is…..romantic comedies.
