Written Preview for Episode 3 of The King 2 Hearts

I couldn’t have imagined how much I’m obsessed with The King 2 Hearts until I realized that I think about it constantly. I can’t wait for the new episodes this week, and I’m not even anxious for the OTP to have skinship or get together. I love their crackling chemistry, their bickering, their culture shock with each other, their general annoyance with one another. I don’t feel like Hang Ah and Jae Ha are stereotypes of the typical K-drama tropes, but instead they feel organic to their roles of a North Korean military officer and a South Korean prince. I can understand where each comes from, at the same time I hurt when they hurt.

Episode 3 written preview:

With the hurtful words flinging back and forth between Hang Ah and Jae Hee, they decide to use the treadmill to determine a victor once and for all. The loser will have to leave the WOC training center. At the same time, a military vehicle is the target of an explosion and a North Korean officer is injured. Shi Kyung, who senses the danger, runs towards the officer exclusive use exercise room where Jae Ha and Hang Ah are currently at…………..

  2. i know dunkin is probably a sponsor ,but it cracks me up how Jae Hee is obsessed with donuts! Esp them jelly ones 🙂

  3. UNNI, YOU ARE MY SAVIOR….i’ve been stalking every k-ent site in existence for something on ep 3…i can’t believe I’m so addicted to this already

  4. Thank you so much for your posts on The King 2 Hearts. It’s keeping me sane until the episode on Wednesday. Fantastic acting all around in this drama 🙂

  5. I still remember when the casting news came out, everyone was reluctant, hesitant and unable to see the Seung Gi-Ha Ji Won OTP happen or work, including myself (altho I love both of them). I’m sure most of us are eating our words right now. hehe..

First 2 episodes of K2H didn’t hit all the right buttons for me, it suffered from some OTT acting by the leads, overplayed music (tho I liked some of the scores), some choppy editing here and there and most of all, a very annoying North Korean accent by HJW. But what made it for me, was LSG and HJW’s palpable chemistry together! I believe nobody saw this coming, who would have thought they could hit it right off the bat with such cute and adorable chemistry? The way they bicker, it’s so old school yesterday K-drama formula, but admit it, we love it and we will never get tired of it. The setup’s seen before, but the OTP chemistry is what makes it work. It’s not something that you can’t just create out of thin air.

The romance premise in K2H is old, but I like that their story is developed differently, incorporating a mix of underlying political tension and some physical/slap-stick comedy. I think the music plays a huge part because some of the scores do make it easier for us to get into the mood of certain scenes. Esp those part involving Club M and the bad guy, darn, he is SO FREAKY and scary. Does he have some mental problem or something?

So there you go, K2H isn’t a home run, nor does it make me go WOW. But compared to FK or RP, this is one drama which I haven’t had thoughts of dropping yet.

  6. I really like the chemistry between LSG and HJW as well. I’m pleasantly surprised as I was a little unsure at first. Funny thing is that their chemistry kinda reminds me of the chemistry btw TC and TY in Love Forward, the tw drama that I’m currently obsessed with. Not that the two pairs are alike but that their chemistry has that certain “just right” spark that it needs.

I’m not sure where K2H will end up, but I’m looking forward to seeing future episodes.

  7. I feel like I am watching a different drama from all of you.. even joked that maybe the K2H ep I watched is a different version. LOL. Oh well, not giving up on the drama yet, but my one foot (and maybe both arms) is already out the front door.

    • You’re not alone. I checked out the first ep and am gonna wait until a few more eps have aired before I continue to watch. I don’t feel hooked, rather I feel wary. :/

  8. I agree with you, Ms. Koala –
This is my new must-see. I will watch it raw, partially subbed, almost all subbed, and then maybe two more times fully subbed.
Since the most important scenes are between the OTP, it is more interesting to watch them without understanding exactly what is being said. I pay attention more to what their eyes are saying, where their hands are…
They do face to face really well together.
HJW’s ability to show emotions – both broad and subtle – makes watching this compelling. An impossible match up between a trained assassin and a royal? I am buying it completely. And when LSG is scrutinizing her face for clues, when he is searching for a weakness he can exploit, we are right there with him. “What’s he looking for?” “What’s he scheming now?” You can feel him trying to pen her in and capture her. I like that he doesn’t realize that the “capturing” will work two ways.

  9. I totally feel the same! There’s just something about TK2H that makes me crave for more.
Believe me, I’ve seen EP1-2 3x already. It’s so engrossing to watch which thanks to its characters and way of story telling allows the viewers to THINK and FEEL which only a few dramas can achieve.

  10. Only 1 more day!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m kinda obsessed too. LSG is now my wallpaper and I don’t even think he’s cute. But, somehow on screen when he’s all serious, caring, and charming he becomes really attractive to me. I’m watching ep. 2 again. Wednesday come quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
