The good army taketh, and the good army giveth back. This Summer has seen a steady stream of K-actors returning from military service, from Kim Nam Gil to Kim Ji Hoon, and in 3 weeks Jung Kyung Ho will be joining this group and returning to grace our screens once again. I really really love this guy, having followed his career since he was the whiny entitled younger son in MiSa all the way until he really broke through big time with Smile, You. His acting is really understated but so sincere, and he has this hard to pinpoint quality that makes his onscreen presence an acquired taste. I think he enlisted really at the height of his popularity, but even then he still had a ways to go before totally settling down into the A-list. Before Park Shi Hoo was revealed to be considering the lead in Cheongdamdong Alice, I was actually thinking it would be a great post-MS project for Jung Kyung Ho. No matter what, I’m sure the boy will pick a great project and make me happy.
My favorite Jung Kyung Ho drama, and I’ve pretty much seen them all, is Time Between Dog and Wolf, where his bromance with Lee Jun Ki remains one of the all-time greats. I had high hopes of Ja Myung Go, his first leading man role and a sageuk to boot. But the drama was so uneven, and the romance was really screwed up between the OTP and the ending pretty much made me go WTF and toss things at the screen. Smile, You is probably his biggest mainstream hit and his chemistry with Lee Min Jung remains indescribably perfect, though the drama itself was too shrill and screechy at times I had to FF any scenes the OTP wasn’t in. Too bad Korea doesn’t like to reunite drama couples, because if there is an onscreen couple I would vote to do another drama together, it would be Lee Min Jung and Jung Kyung Ho.

Ohhhhhh, I can’t wait I loved him in Smile You w/ Lee Min Jung. Your right they reallly do have great chemistry together and I hope if there are drama Gods out their that somewhere down the line that they will be paired up again really hoping

I only stuck with Smile You (first ever family drama) for so long was for Jung Kyung Ho and Lee Min Jung. I became an LMJ fan because of her chemistry with JKH; too bad she is gradually growing meh in my eyes… lol He isn’t particularly good looking, but he really grows on you and has a adorable smile too
I went crazy about LMJ in Smile You and then……Midas, Big …happened.
I love JKH!!! I can’t wait for his return. As for LMJ, I am actually impressed by her performance in Big. I mean, her chemistry with JKH remains the best, but I think her character in Smile You is far more likeable than Daran in Big (that’s why a lot of people feel disappointed at her in Big). Anyway. I want them to do another project together!

I agree he was really good in Time between Dog and Wolf. The only thing is I didn’t care for the female lead LOL.
The ending in JaMyung Go was seriously srewed up and made me so mad. But I liked him in there.

BEST NEWS EVER. I’m a big Jung Kyung Ho fan ever since TBWAD, which I only watched a few months back.
The Lee Min Jung and Jung Kyung Ho pairing in Smile, You is still THE BEST otp with the best chemistry in all of kdrama land. For me, anyways lol. It looked so real and so natural that it didn’t look like acting at all. I would give a leg to see that pairing again.
Having watched Smile, You twice. I can only tell you that I stuck with it the second time around (when my friend wanted to watch it) is because of Jung Kyung Ho and Lee Min Jung. They were incredibly cute and had the best chemistry EVER! The family stuff is not that bad but at times it was just ridiculous. That’s what happened when you extend dramas…

I’ve been on JKH binge this week after seeing him in Gangster High. Just finished Smile, You and in between I watched his movies Running Turtle, Herb, Sunny and The Great Gye Choon Bin. I agree with you, his acting is definitely understated but there is an element of sincerity in his delivery that is endearing. Even when he plays the bad guy (Running Turtle), I couldn’t help but root for him. His versatile acting skill has me still searching for more of his work. I look forward to his return. Btw, what’s OTP?

My fav used to be Lee MinHo but Faith is SO disappointing. guess everyone can’t be as good as City Hunter! But after watching Smile You many times I can’t get enough of JKH!!!

I have watched Smile You like at least 4 or 5 times and it is all because of these two. talk about chemistry on screen!!! Lalalove them SO much! Here in the USA we don’t have mandatory military service. It must be hard for these young men who have careers in acting or even music to pick and leave. I know a few have worried about what will happen when they get out…if they will still have a career to come back to or even popularity. No worries JKH!!! You are loved by a ton of people!!!
