Uhm Tae Woong Joins 7th Level Civil Servant as the Villain

This is so neato, and definitely confirmation as to how much Uhm Tae Woong must adore his dongsaeng Joo Won from being teammates on 1 Day 2 Nights. Despite my personal mehness towards Joo Won, Uhm Force’s affection for him does add to my perception that he’s a totally sweet kid that everyone loves because of his sincerity and hardworking spirit. I’m just waiting for a drama to flip the switch for me on his onscreen appeal. The upcoming 7th Level Civil Servant might be it, but I have no impression whatsoever based on the first stills. The story line I already know since its adapted from the same name movie starring Kang Ji Hwan and Kim Ha Neul, which I found entertaining if not rather forgettable. I’m sure the basic framework from the movie will be fleshed out for the drama and hopefully the added bits will make it more interesting and meaningful. I mention Uhm Tae Woong loving Joo Won because he’s just been confirmed, not as a cameo appearance in this drama as I had heard but as the antagonist in this drama. Woah. MIND. BLOWN. Uhm Force playing a villain? I am definitely checking this out now. I wonder if he’ll be the bumbling villain, or the posturing villain, or a genuinely threatening villain? I kinda wish for the first kind, seeing him be evil but with his real life ability at sucking at physical tasks. That would be epic. His official character still is dreadful and makes him look like a greasy ahjusshi, which might be the look he’s going for. I’ve also seen official stills of both leads Joo Won and Choi Kang Hee, and they both look great except I’m not digging her short pixie hair cut. She looks much better with longer hair and this only highlights her quirky androgynous style which might make it harder to create a believable romance between her and Joo Won. I dunno, it’s too early to tell so anything can happen still.

Uhm Tae Woong Joins 7th Level Civil Servant as the Villain — 20 Comments

  1. Longer hair makes her look younger which they need since she’s much older than joo won. So I’m baffled why they would give her that haircut. And Uhm Tae Woong played the villain in Delightful Girl. I hated his character! I like him though cause doesn’t care if he’s first or second leads in his dramas. He has a lot of successful movies and yet he just takes on drama roles based on the part.

  2. Gah. I hope they give her a wig or something. Or extensions. She looks ridiculous with short hair. Who decided to cut it off? Is it actually cut or does she have a wig on? That’s dedication to look like that. It’s not bad…it’s just not great.

  3. I too couldnot help but think that the Joo Won/Uhmforce bromance which started before their 1n2d caused this latest addition to the cast. The drama BTS should be interesting to watch with skinship galore. 😀

    • ,somehow I feel pity for all the ladies in the drama coz they’ll be ignored as these two will be busy hugging and snuggling (or should we say spooning?) when the camera’s not rolling..

      • @ck1Oz & oozzeee: YES! Have you also come across any of the Gaksital BTS vids and stills showing Joo Won all handsy on Park Ki Woong especially in the most dramatic moments? Haha. Thus these new BTS will undoubtedly elicit squealing amongst viewers, much more than the unbelievably odd pairing of Choi Kang Hee with either Joo Won or Chansung, imo.

  4. when i saw the first picture, Uhm Tae Woong in a very, very tight shirt, my mind went “hmm…another Sherlock effect” I don’t think he’s comfortable in that but hey if it makes him look good (*.*) And i still think Choi Kang Hee doesn’t work with Joo Won, but at least we have the bromance to look for!! (^_-)-☆

  5. This is awesome casting. I hope he gets to play one of the funny evil leads, like an Alan Rickman in everything. “Ho, ho, ho.”

  6. This just became more of a much watch for me. If Joo Won and Choi Kang Hee weren’t enough this drama had to go and add Uhm Tae Woong too!! Loves. Since UTW is playing the villian, I hope he rocks the bad boy agent look and puts the moves on CKH’s character making Joo Won all sorts of jealous before turning all sorts of evil. January still seems so far away and there doesn’t seem to be any fun dramas to watch, aside from Alice but it’s a weekend drama, so there isn’t another to get me through the work week.

  7. I’d love to wrap myself around Taewoong as tight as that shirt he’s wearing. XD

What happened to Taewoong’s saeguk? I thought he signed on to become a maritime general, no?

  8. Joo Won has a lot of charisma in “Gaksital”, and the ending to that drama is just perfect. I’d recommend at least reading the recaps, which I did after I couldn’t handle watching it anymore. It’s definitely different from other dramas.

  9. Erm did you not watch Bridal Mask? How can he not appeal to you in anyway after all that on Bridal Mask,,from evil to sexciness in that white police attire and amazing acting skills…if its onscreen I think theres a lot to appeal but since its a personal thing it will not change if Bridal Mask or Baker King didnt move you,,I dont think anything else will definitely not this upcoming very light drama compared to his previous ones!
