The latest news report on the upcoming underdog drama Advertising Genius Lee Tae Baek confirms that this will be a drama with two male leads and two female leads, rather than main versus second leads that most often sets up K-dramas. The most recent K-drama with leads with equal importance and screen time would be critically acclaimed The Chaser. The casting of Jo Hyun Jae as the antagonist character now makes sense – he’s not set up to be the villain, he is merely the rival to the country bumpkin advertising newbie played by Jin Goo. This is no diss on Jin Goo, who is a very charismatic and solid actor, but Jo Hyun Jae has been playing leads since 2003 and I did wonder what made him pick this role. Supposedly he really loved the character and the script. Same with Han Chae Young, who rocketed to stardom back in 2005 with Delightful Girl Choon Hyang and this time gets to reunite with her Only You leading man Jo Hyun Jae 8 years later. I’m sure neither of them ever thought they would get a chance to act together again, especially after so many years. But check them out at the poster shoot for Lee Tae Baek – the chemistry is totally there and shooting everywhere. I don’t think I’ve seen Han Chae Young this bubbly and happy onscreen in years. I actually love Park Ha Sun as well, who gets to play the female underdog counterpart to Jin Goo’s character and I love her gorgeous casual style for this drama. Looking at the first official stills from the poster shoot, I’m also further relieved that there are two sets of OTP. Jin Goo and Park Ha Sun are wearing casual sweaters and pants couples outfit look, while Han Chae Young and Jo Hyun Jae are rocking the all black power suit couples outfit look. Eeeeeeeee, I’m so excited its not even funny! I pray that all four leads have well-written characters and the plot of this drama doesn’t turn into Man of Honor v. 2 with increasingly ridiculous work place challenges and pointless posturing all around. I tell myself that I will watch crap just to see Jo Hyun Jae and Han Chae Young together again, but I doubt I have the fortitude to last the entire way through if this one turns into a turkey. So please don’t suck, m’kay? This is too fantastically pretty a cast to waste on stupid story lines.
