Video Preview for Episode 8 of Monstar

One barometer of how good Monstar keeps getting is that even as I’m digesting the awesome of a just aired episode seeing the preview for the next one gets me raring to hurtle forward into next week so I can keep riding this high. It’s like finishing one great chapter and you just have this urge to start the next one even as you know its best to slow down and savor. Episode 7 was da bomb and I’ll talk about it during my recap. Suffice to say Color Bar and All for One went head-to-head with completely different tenor performances and I actually enjoyed both even if my heart is forever with my band of misfits. I appreciate that actually cooperating to the point of putting on a kick-ass performance isn’t enough to resolve any issues looming over everyone. Kyu Dong gets a bit of a spine but Do Nam is nowhere ready to talk out their problems and work through it. Episode 8 looks to hurtle these two boys to the brink and perhaps that will allow them to go back to when their friendship broke down and move past it positively this time. Na Na’s crush on Sun Woo starts to rise to the surface as she sheds her tough girl façade, but judging from the preview Sun Woo still needs to get some closure with Se Yi before Na Na even has a chance with him. I don’t necessary want the secondary couple to get together, its fine with me if they do, no big deal if they don’t.

That emotional thread doesn’t grip me, probably because Sun Woo is so strategic and restrained with his emotions that I’ve yet to feel his true anxiety over the simplest of unrequited crushes. Whereas Seol Chan is all id and Se Yi is starting to be weighed down by feelings around Seol Chan except she has no one around her to explain what it all means. Episode 8 looks to deliver a break through with Seol Chan and Se Yi, allowing them to go on a date (or whatever they are going to call it to avoid calling it a date) and hopefully that will allow Se Yi to pierce through the fog of her own inexperience with falling for a guy. I really need that to happen because the biggest looming threat for Seol Chan isn’t Sun Woo as a rival or Se Yi not liking him back, is that he can’t like her for fear of placing her in harms way. What will our Star do when he has to choose between love or career? Looks like that point is coming soon, a double whammy of the media and his own fandom ready to pounce on any scandal or oppa-betrayal, as well as the douchbags of All for One being sore losers and ready to avenge their own humiliation by attempting to hurt Seol Chan and/or Se Yi. Knowing this drama, I’m ready for all the slings and arrows because it will only bring Color Bar closer together, even if they have to fall apart first.

Preview for episode 8:

Color Bar is complimented on doing well. Se Yi claims she’s going on a date with Seol Chan because she’s his seatmate. Sun Woo asks Se Yi what she did when out with Seol Chan. Students are wondering who Seol Chan’s girlfriend is and Hyo Rin claims she’s Seol Chan’s girlfriend. Sun Woo says he likes Se Yi, while Se Yi says she’s been rejected. Kyu Dong stands up to Jae Rok’s bullying and says his name is not Radio. Jae Rok tells him not to be so confident, the applause wasn’t for him.

  1. I love episode 7 to pieces, and needless to say, Seol Chan grows on me as a character. I love his man-boy personality, beside the “I’m-a-star” image, he is caring and has such passion for music that finding a new musical talent is like meeting a soulmate for him 🙂
Episode 8 can’t come here soon enough!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I feel the same. I’m not even done registering my delight at the newest episode before the preview has me anxious for more.

  3. So i watched this before watching ep 7. And i was like “can somebody sub ep 7 immediately because hell i want to know everything” huhu.

  4. I can’t wait for the episode next week. I’m going to be so sad when this drama comes to and end.Ok must not think of this. I love all the band members and the eclectic eclectic group they make. The show does such an amazing job of blending it’s narrative with blow u away musical numbers. Thanks for the preview Ms. Koala.
