This picture is so odd from the standpoint of seeing three K-stars that one never would have imagined standing together at an awards ceremony. I finally figured out what award Kim Jae Wook was headed to Japan to receive at the Korean Entertainment 10th Anniversary Awards in Japan. He was getting the special Producer’s Choice award, which in layman’s terms means he’s so popular in Japan but doesn’t quit fit into one of the existing categories so one was made up for him. Heh. My last post was about him being snapped at the airport headed to Japan to accept his award, and I actually checked out the live broadcast and decided to write a bit about it. Also in attendance was Bae Yong Joon, making his first public appearance in nearly two years, there to accept the Best Actor award. Yoon Eun Hye made a quick trip to Japan for her Best Actress award despite being smack in the filming for her currently airing drama Marry Him If You Dare (Mirae’s Choice). Bae Yong Joon’s protege and Hallyu idol superstar Kim Hyun Joong was also there to receive the Best Solo Male Artist award and he also performed during the ceremony. This entire award feels like a popularity contest voted for by Japanese viewers, and it really was since votes accounted for the wins. There is no qualitative value to it but it also doesn’t aspire to be taken seriously so none of the wins bother me. It’s just a chance for the Japanese viewers to see all their favorite Korean actors, actresses, and singers on one stage. Check out some airport and awards night pictures below. For the awards show, Yoon Eun Hye managed a lovely 20s flapper era hairstyle to tame her frizzy perm and her dress was lovely, while the three male winner Bae Yong Joon, Kim Hyun Joong, and Kim Jae Wook all rocked perfect tuxes so I assume plenty of obasan hearts were breaking all over the place.
