This isn’t a particularly arresting or interesting clothing endorsement ad campaign, whether standalone or as one of Jang Geun Seok‘s many endorsement deals over the years. What makes this Spring 2014 ad campaign for clothing brand Ferrino worth posting about is the double whammy combo of the clothes are pretty hideous but Jang Geun Seoks look great with his new short do and a very different visual aura than the last few years of androgynous rocker boho hot mess. Even in a series of outfits that are totally meh, he manages to make me sit up and take notice. I like it, and am really happy with Jang Geun Seok keeping his hair short for the time being after cutting it for his last drama Pretty Boy (Bel Ami) to change up his overall image. I honestly did like his long hair rocker style especially during the Mary Stays Out All Night period, but the problem that crept up was the feeling that he was in an acting career rut because he was relishing his real life punk rocker side job. I also like this short hair change because it finally shows Jang Geun Seok’s fine handsome features to his best advantage even if this particular ad campaign seems to have made him overly glossy and photoshopped. I wonder if he’ll do a drama or movie this year and continue sharpening his acting skills. I personally think he’s due to do a sageuk and he’s always been great in the period drama roles such as in Hwang Jin Yi and Hong Gil Dong. We will get to see him act, and opposite Park Shin Hye no less, later this month with Lotte Duty Free releases it’s mini-movie featuring the two of them as lovers exploring Jeju together. Can’t wait!
