It’s Okay, It’s Love Holds Script Reading Session with Leads Gong Hyo Jin and Jo In Sung

SBS wrapped up Three Days with Yoochun this week, got ready to launch You’re All Surrounded with Lee Seung Gi and Cha Seung Won next week, and also quietly started filming for It’s Okay, It’s Love starring Jo In Sung and Gong Hyo Jin. Both of the leads had well-received and successful SBS dramas last years with co-stars that most viewers loved with each – Jo In Sung did That Winter, the Wind Blows with Song Hye Kyo while Gong Hyo Jin coupled with So Ji Sub for The Master’s Sun. Those of us who love traumatic melos also remember So Ji Sub and Jo In Sung being the two parts of the crazy amazing love triangle with Ha Ji Won in What Happened in Bali. Will Gong Hyo Jin have as much chemistry with Jo In Sung as she did with So Ji Sub in TMS?

I think so, and with this drama being written by famed screenwriter Noh Hee Kyung I hope I’ll like it better than the quippy shallow takeaway I got from TMS which is typical Hong Sister’s fluff. I love how the two leads are looking comfortable and relaxed in the script reading and reportedly the session was all laughs as the cast dived into writer Noh’s tender and funny script. Joining Jo In Sung and Gong Hyo Jin in It’s Okay, It’s Love is respected veteran Sung Dong Il (fresh off yet another endearing turn as the dad in Answer Me 1994), Kwang Soo, EXO‘s D.O., forever scene-stealer Yang Ik Joon (I still giggle anytime I think of Jae Shik in Nice Guy), and Yoon Jin Yi. I’m a little concerned with the directing since helming this drama will be frequent Noh Hee Kyung collaborator Kim Kyu Tae who directed her The World We Live In, Padam Padam, and That Winter, the Wind Blows. His style is sometimes too much style drowning out the delicate substance. Here’s to hoping this one is a winner for the Summertime viewing.

It’s Okay, It’s Love Holds Script Reading Session with Leads Gong Hyo Jin and Jo In Sung — 14 Comments

  1. A star-studded cast.
I’ll watch this for Jo In Sung and Kwang Soo. Will LKS be comedic in this one? I heard he plays as Tourette Syndrome patient.
Will JIS and GHJ have chemistry? So far GHJ always has chemistry with her male co-stars.

  2. This is THE drama I am looking forward to this summer. She is one of my favorite actresses, and I have loved him since his pimp outfit wearing character in Shoot for the Stars (2002).

  3. I love GHJ ana JIS so I am looking forward to this one. GHJ has amazing chemistry with all her stars, can’t wait.

  4. I LOVED Master’s Sun, but I’m looking forward to GHJ’s return to melo and really digging her hair here – the wispy fringe (that’s bangs, in American) and pulled back hair make her look like a doll.

And I liked That Winter and thought JIS put in a fantastic performance – but was it really that successful, in Korea? The highest ratings were something like 15 percent, and if a show is averaging 11-12% ratings with such big stars it’s not generally regarded as a hit, at least in the other cases I’ve seen.

  5. Also, it’s funny that just as I was typing the above comment, the site header above this post was the one of Gong Hyo-jin grinning at So Si-sub in Master’s Sun ep 4 when they’re both in his bedroom. It seems fitting, somehow 😀

  6. I’m a fan of JIS. Watching this no matter what! Though GH is not among my favourite but she’s okay I guess. And I kinda love their height difference! Hahah strange how kdrama world made me love such silly details.

  7. Gong Hyo Jin and Jo In Sung…interesting.
But Yang Ik Joon and Sung Dong Il !!! 🙂

Btw…can the writer change her director partner? Oops.

  8. Woahh. Looking forward to see this series.
I love Gong Hyo Jin since she was so stunning in Master Sun.
As for Jo In Sung, I don’t really found him amazing in TWTB.
But I’m curious to see the chemistry between the two.
And of course as a loyal Runner, I love to see Kwangsoo Oppa..
    Fighting for all the casts!!!

  9. When I heard that KyungSoo (EXO’s D.O.) and KwangSoo will be in one drama, I was just like, Omo, how will be their scene together looks like? Does Kwangsoo need to spread his legs or KyungSoo will use an apple box or waht not, you get what I mean? But of course I LOVE KYUNGSOO. And one wild thought lingered in my mind is that, we all know that we are fond of pairing them like making an OTP or Bromance, so if we will make a bromance for Kyungsoo and Kwangsoo, we (with my kids) already have one, it will be KwangKyung or KyungKwang, since they both their second name is Soo, how was it, cute right? (me and my kids are just making of it) kekeke

Anyway, good luck for this drama. Honestly I am excited for this.

    KyungSoo, Saranghaeyo
