Jessica Releases Statement as the Remaining 8-members of SNSD Attend Somber China Fan Meeting

The now 8-member girl’s group of SNSD (Girl’s Generation) had quite the whirlwind 24-hours since any K-ent incident I can remember in years. Now former member Jessica dropped the bombshell that she had been abruptly kicked out from SNSD even as she was headed back to Korea from NYC to join her fellow members to jet to Shenzhen China for the group’s first Chinese fan meeting. It took SM Entertainment many hours before releasing the official statement confirming that Jessica was indeed out of SNSD but would still be managed in her solo activities by SM. During the interim period after the news broke and before the official confirmation, the remaining 8 members of SNSD jetted off to Shenzhen for their fan meeting scheduled later that evening. Now the pictures are out from the fan meeting best described by Chinese fans in attendance as absolutely surreal. Nothing was specifically discussed about Jessica’s glaring absence though during some of the songs, Jessica’s portion was left unsung with only music playing. Apparently Seohyun also cried on stage, and with the entire group dressed in black, it was basically sad station central.

This is Jessica’s full statement:

Hello, this is Jessica.

On September 29th I was informed by my company I was let go from SNSD. I couldn’t contain my confusion and pain so I decided to go public about my side.

During my time with SNSD, group promotions were always my top priority before my personal life or business aims. With no regard to my hard work and dedication to the group, I was given notice to leave from the company.

Since the beginning stages of the business preparations until now, I discussed with and obtained understanding from SM and the members on many instances.

Prior to BLANC launching, I received confirmation and permission to do business and even received congratulations from the members.

A mere month after the launching, the members suddenly changed their position in early September and called an abrupt meeting insisting I either quit my business or leave SNSD.

I explained that I received permission from the company, have never neglected SNSD promotions, and cannot cancel the venture within one month of BLANC′s start due to valid business contracts.

I believed that making me choose was an unreasonable request, especially since I’ve always felt being a SNSD member was the greatest thing in my life and I have never thought about leaving.

In shock I visited the company president on September 16th laying out my position and received permission once again to continue my business.

Subsequently I received an one-sided notice on September 29th from the company that I was let go from SNSD. I was unable to participate in the fan meeting event in Shenzhen, China on September 30th the following day. I′ve also been removed from all SNSD activities.

More than anything, I was greatly hurt and couldn′t hide my despair after being told to leave SNSD by my company and members, with whom I′ve given all my passion and love for the last 15 years, all because I started a business.

I want to apologize for causing much worry to the fans even though this wasn′t my intention. I ask for your understanding that this matter isn′t what I wanted. I have always cherished SNSD and will continue to do so in the future. Thank you for always supporting me and loving me.

The K-media is working overtime to dig into all the reasons for why Jessica was unceremoniously booted from SNSD, and that’s the only way to explain things because of the way it went down. Here are all the various media and/or fan speculations on why SM pushed Jessica out of SNSD:

1. Jessica was always ostracized by the other 8, she never quite fit in. Taeyeon especially did not get along with her. When things got bad between Jessica and SM, none of the other members backed her.

2. Her boyfriend Tyler Kwon was getting too involved her in career at SM and interfering, leading to friction with the other members.

3. She was planning to get married next May to Tyler and with it end her involvement with SNSD at that time, so SM pulled the trigger and preempted her. It may have been accelerated due to the other 8 getting annoyed that Jessica’s heart wasn’t in SNSD anymore even though she perfunctorily participated in all the activities.

4. Jessica’s dream has been to be a fashion accessories designer. She got a step closer with the launch this past August of her line Blanc backed by Tyler. That made some or all the other members envious she was doing well outside of the group and/or annoyed she was way more into the fashion line than being an idol.

5. Money, money money, it all came down to SM being unable to come to agreement with Jessica and her side about how to split the proceeds from Blanc. SM felt that Blanc’s success would be riding on the coattails of Jessica being an SNSD member hence SM should have a bigger cut of the pie.

Jessica Releases Statement as the Remaining 8-members of SNSD Attend Somber China Fan Meeting — 89 Comments

  1. Well this is certainly causing ripples….. I suppose this means the end of Girls Generation’s reign as the Nation’s Girl Group, now? It’s like Ginger Spice leaving the Spice Girls.

    • Not really. Ginger was the lead vocalist with Spice. SNSD has several Very good singers, and even the back up girls are now good enough to carry solo vocals easily. So the loss of one isn’t a tremendous loss. Consider that Seo’s voice can come close to Taeyeon’s now, even the leader isn’t indispensible. It will be interesting to see if SME will replace her. Krystal would have been a strong possibility if she would do it, but I don’t seen that happening as it would cause all kinds of family trauma. Sera from 9 muses, are you listening? Clearly the best option at the moment.

      • Even then, Jessica was one of the main vocals. Not even tiffany can change that. Tiffany cant really sing that well. So there only leaves seohyun and Taeyeon. Thats not enough for 8 people

  2. sad to hear the other members made her choose between her fashion career and the group. i don’t really get it since some of the other members do other things like acting away from the group, why can’t she have her own thing?

    • I don’t think the members made her choose. I believe SM requested them to ask her for them. They obviously weren’t happy with the fact that she left. I don’t think they wanted to ask in the first place. Secondly, Jessica has her own brand. She owns it and she’s in charge. Compared to the members, they did acting. It’s like a part-time job. It also works well with being an idol. But a designer? She’s is literally the boss. She’s the leader, the one in charge and that takes up a lot of time.

      • I agree with you.. I believe the 8 members don’t ant to lose her. Hurt is also drawn in their faces. You see, Sica, Yuri and Yoona are so close to each other. I hope SM’s decision will change and they’ll bring back Jessica 🙂

    • what do you expect? She was basically planning to use the fame from snsd to help her business promote which was unfair. She began to put fashion over snsd and if your snsd’s fan wouldn’t you want all the members to be equally dedicated? You became jessica’s fan because of her role in snsd not her role in the fashion industry. She basically betrayed her fans from snsd in my perspective. The Other 8 members are the victims.

    • If the other 8 members truly care about Jessica, they will understand and will support her other career and her lovelife because it’s her dream. They don’t deserve to be called as a team because they never tried to understand Jessica’s feelings. The girls were so selfish. They should’ve fought for her. Her business isn’t the real deal here, is it? They just find the perfect timing to get rid of her, just admitt it.

  3. I wonder why they couldn’t have waited until after the fan meeting, since they apparently didn’t have the other girls prepped enough to not have gaping holes in the music and stuff. Or even kicked her out or “retired” her or something a few days earlier, so everyone could have gotten this out of their system before they did the fanmeet as 8 if they didn’t want her to be there.

    • Or they wanted to heighten the drama and milk the ‘abandonment’ narrative for all it’s worth… I wouldn’t put anything past anybody in K-ent (or entertainment in general).

      • Yeah, with the whole “She’s getting married in May!” and Tyler Kwon saying “No I’m not,” as well. Dunno what’s up there, whether they were planning on it but just cancelled as a reaction, or if people are making stuff up, but there’s for sure lots of media spin going around.

    • She was in NY the whole day until the day before. So she didn’t go the rehearsals for the FM. I guess it’s not a big deal, but possibly it was their excuse to kick her out. She’s leaving anyway soon. They just made it quicker.

    • Wouldn’t it be ironic if that “PR team” was … Jessica? One woman against the mighty SM’s PR machine? Unfortunately for the corporation, that woman has 3 million followers on her social media account.

  4. As a professional management agency, it’s a damn inexcusable that they had to end things this way. Like I’ve said earlier, they could have planned her exit if Jessica truly wanted out or if SM felt that she no longer fits to their interests. This is as abrupt as it goes. Again, it’s probably been fortunate that SNSD only had to do a fan meeting, imagine if this had been a bigger event. But even then, unceremoniously booting her off prior to an event, which obviously not only shaken fans, but their own performers in the entire ordeal. Surreal would have been an understatement. It’s like visiting a funeral then having a parlor games and party at the same time. I’m surprised that the entire event didn’t just devolved into a messy affair. Really, SM, really?

    • Don’t forget SM wasn’t planning on releasing the news yet. She was the one who posted the first message on her weibo. They might have tried to discuss the situation more after the China meet, but she killed that with her post. She was the one that was unprofessional by posting in anger and hurt.

      • Well, for one, the way I’m interpreting all of this is that Jessica was fired without forewarning (ie. it’s like riding to work in the morning then receiving a phone call from your boss telling you “you’re fired.”) The way that the girls themselves who seemed to be unprepared with Jessica’s absence in the performance may suggest that all of this was kept “secret” until the very moment she was fired. That’s just unethical if not unprofessional in my opinion. Why not release the news AFTER the meet? Jessica can tweet all she wants–it’s her prerogative to do so. Did SM expect her to just shut up?

      • I think SM was the one who was being unprofessional. She was ready/willing to go to the fan meeting. SM could have waited. It was disrespectful to the fans. I can’t blame Jessica for posting. She got blindsided and she doesn’t want to get blamed by SNSD fans once SM puts a spin on her departure to make it look like the separation was mutual or her doing.

  5. I believe Jessica’s statement more she sounded genuinely upset & real. If the members ever released their statement I wouldn’t be able to believe it since they will evidently be monitored by SM.

Good luck with Jessica & her future endeavors!

I always wondered when SNSD would fall since girl groups can’t last forever! It’s sad that it has to come down this way.

    • True. You can tell from her official statements that they haven’t been polished by a PR firm. That’s straight from the heart there, from someone in obvious emotional distress. If you’re a writer of any caliber, you can tell her statements, including Weibo post, were not “managed.” So I’m more inclined to believe her as a result.

    • I totally agree and believe her statements over SM. I think Jessica wanted to continue being a member because it is that fame that probably would help her fashion business succeed too. I wouldn’t be surprised if SM even instructed SNSD to “act” depressed during their fan meeting. I want to believe that there are some SNSD members genuinely upset by her departure, but I’m more sure that there are more that are glad that they have “one less rival.”

Now I’m interested in what her sister Krystal will do. Will she back her sister up or stay with the company that cruelly gave her sister the boot. Hmm… money or family?

      • Not siding any side (yet) but at the moment, I just can’t bring myself to believe what SM said/going to say. Big company like SM they are so powerful that they are able to control almost everything, including their idols’ lives. And reading from Jessica’s, it sounded sincere, and I believe even if she did plan to exit, she would have done it in properly, nobody would want to end their career in such a sad and degraded way.

      • There have already been articles released about Krystal’s reaction. Besides, why would Krystal have to cancel her contract (probably pay a huge fine too), leave her group and her drama because of what happened? Don’t forget that Jessica is still under SM too since she recently renewed her contract with them.

    • Dude/dudette, anyone can write, but you have to be a professional to pull this off, it’s like watching a sad movie that makes you cry. Sure the actors/actresses gave the movie to life, but the script is the root source of the crying effect, in this case, perspective is the one that’s making this upsetting and realistic effect and the article is the root source this effect, or in some cases the person writing the article is just good at writing or making up stories.

  6. I’m upgrading my comments system so everyone’s comments during the upgrade will hopefully show up soon. ^__^ Thanks for being patient!

  7. Geez. This really reminds all of us how cut-throat the entertainment business can be. Now matter how good, innocent and united everyone looks on the outside, you just never really know.

I don’t think we’ll ever fully know the real reasons but I would sympathize with Jessica if any of the listed reasons above were true, and if especially it was because of an impending marriage.

  8. I don’t know much SNSD, but i am wondering too why they could not wait until the concert in China. It seems abrupt and uncourteous to just fire her like that.
But then, what does SM care? More advertisement for them, right?

  9. I actually believe some member put pressure so SM would kick out Jessica. Teayeon had no problem with that. In fact she would love to kick others aswell. And don’t tell me I have no evidence when there are lots of videos of her being rude.
I don’t think Jessica is doing something bad. Netizens are being so rude. Why is it selfish to handle her business, her marriage and her group. SNSD wouldn’t last forever and they’ve had a pretty succesful career. I was glad they were doing hosting, acting, modeling and even getting into fashion. There’s not much difference between making a drama and managing a business. It’s really something going between Jessica and the members. I hope she leaves that crappy company and the bitchy Taeyeon. In the end Taeyeon sneaked out to have dates with Baekhyun. Why can’t Jessica do the same.

    • I see the Taeyeon antis have showed up…….what a bitch she is, she must be responsible for all the bad things that happen! Let’s blame her for the problems in Hong Kong and Ukraine and ISIS too!

      • Taeyeon has digged her own grave by her own actittude. Some members don’t feel comfortable with her. Just right now with TTS. It’s clear she doesn’t have a good relationship with Seohyun. You will probably say “How do you know that?? Do you know her??” blah blah. The way she talks and the faces tell everything. It’s something you can see even when the cameras are rolling. I don’t hate her. She has no importance to me. But I’m a fan of other members of Girls’ Generation and her songs. I don’t like her and her so full of herself actittude. You can agree or not. Just stating facts so I can have a clear idea of whats going on.
Please go over react somewhere else, it’s disgusting the way you joke with international problems when they are serious.

      • LOL and don’t forget.. global warming is also Taeyeon’s fault. :)Kidding aside, I guess there is also tension between the members that also fueled this issue. Too bad because I have always believed that SNSD was the most “together” out of all the active K-pop groups now. I wish that someone from SNSD (Taeyeon perhaps, being the leader) also speak up about this issue. But then again no matter how you look at it, SM handled this poorly and it is unfair to Jessica. Never believed SNSD will stay on top and last forever but I don’t think this will bring them down or at least not anytime soon.

      • Add in the zombie apocalypse charge. Taeyeon’s probably the vampire queen out to enslave the world. I pity Taeyeon even if she twinkles.

      • Remember there are 7 others beside Taeyeon, did she twist their arms to agree to kick jessica out?

The translation here is great but didn’t cover half of what is out there. What you read here is more pro jessica, go read the others.

    • actually didnt you know taeyeon cried in a fan meeting when they are talking about jessica … dont be hard on taeyeon please and dont ever call her BITCH she might be rude in some videos that you watched but she don intend in kicking others out

  10. This article sheds an interesting light on possible causes of friction within idol groups, especially in SM, where the pay isn’t split evenly between the members: http://seoulbeats.com/2012/06/how-splitting-money-could-split-a-group/

On top of the resentments created by unequal earnings, isn’t it obvious SM would frown upon any of them making money outside the entertainment world (e.g. a fashion line) because they wouldn’t automatically have dibs on the idol’s earnings? Of course, we don’t know the specifics of Jessica’s contract with SM, but isn’t it safe to assume that since they are an ENTERTAINMENT agency, Jessica’s earnings outside the entertainment world would be out of SM’s (and the other members’) reach?

In any case, I am glad Jessica isn’t staying silent, especially when faced with the giant evil SME and her 8 former members. It’s not easy to be David against Goliath and his minions.
Good luck, Jessica. You deserve the right to move on from your grueling idol life. Besides, how much longer could they have been called GIRLS generation?!? Seriously now…

  11. I’m sorry for the language, but SONES have known about the Taeyeon and Jessica problem for years now. Watch most of their interactions and you will see Jessica try to reach out to her while Taeyeon either ignores her or pulls a bitch face. There is obviously a very strong one-sided grudge there, and it looks like it pulled the team apart. To those who want even more evidence, the SNSD subunit TaeTiSeo was originally not going to have Seohyun in it, but Jessica. Taeyeon was the one who demanded for Jessica to be pulled out because she thought Jessica didn’t “fit the concept”.
Tiffany is Taeyeon’s best friend, so we know who else sided with her. Hyoyeon was very close to Jessica and is clearly very affected by this. Seohyun, who is the youngest, is wise beyond her years, so I wouldn’t be surprised if she was opposed to kicking out her teammate. She was probably listened by the older members and the company.
I have been following them since debut days, back when they suffered through the Black Ocean punishment Cassiopeia, ELF, and Triple S put them through. A lot has changed since then, and fame has gotten to some of their heads – especially to a certain girl that was supposed to be the leader, the glue holding everyone together.
I am so disappointed. I hope Jessica doesn’t have to suffering this bullying anymore and is successful in her business.

    • I’m sorry but tiffany was also very close with jessica even since predebut era. She just leaned towards taeyeon years around before jessica departure. But it doesn’t mean I’m gonna believe she’s also agree to kick jessica out.

  12. Regardless…. Getting out of the group is better. A singing group of girls will not last forever, “WHY?” ..

Well…girls get OLD and UNPRETTY !!! Duh !!!! Lol !!

but a careers of fashion line last u forever ( if she gets one). Coco Chanel is dead and her purse is still out selling like crazy!!!! She is still making $$$$ even when she already dead. Lol !!

  13. Si Woo and Rae Hoon are the Jessica and Taeyeon 2.0 in MLG k-dramaland respectively.

That kind of crap does happen, and again, the irony of it all is just…mind boggling.

Sorry for the lameness by just commenting on a drama, but I have exhausted all my thoughts, words, and opinions on this matter elsewhere on two sites, and this is all I can manage out at almost 1AM now.

What a mess. It’s just a mess. All one can do now is deal with the fact that SNSD and Jessica have gone their separate ways. All I know is that I’m staying by Jessica’s side. She’s the one that has been wronged in my point of view, when she was given the okay by both the agency and the members to go ahead with her fashion launch only for them to make a 360 degree on her a month after she signed and made deal with investors. You just can’t turn back from that.

I don’t stand by South Korea’s conformist society or “team” views, so k-netizens calling her selfish are a non-concern. They can suck it.

  14. Is tyler kwon the rich guy with a bad reputation? I used to have this impression of him but can’t find anymore details on google. jessica isn’t wrong for wanting to plan her career but maybe the marriage is a little too…. all the members have to sacrifice for her (less commercial, lose in popularity and fans)

  15. She was going to leave soon enough. Their contracts were individual contracts and she has 3 more years left with sm. She was only planning on staying in gg for one more album. I think she’s just upset that they dumped her first, before she got the chance to dump them.

  16. It’s a mess and I don’t totally buy her statement anymore than I buy SM’s. Both are trying to be the victim and I sort of doubt either side is. Something big had to happen for SM to dump her and get rid of the whole OT9 Soshi-bond image. That is what made them money. Her new company isn’t a big enough deal to break up the money making machine that is SNSD. They just aren’t going to ruin everything over a bigger cut of a brand that is just starting. Makes no business sense at all.

I doubt we’ll ever know since people have taken their sides. I am interested to see if she does actually get married, they are denying it again.

    • Agreed. So I don’t think money is an issue here. Most likely that something else had happened that only Jessica, SM and maybe the other members know about. And it must be something big and serious. I doubt they’ll continue with the marriage now. Doing so will only make matters worst for Jessica and the guy.

      • This totally isn’t a money issue. Money is the issue that kept them together for the past 3-4 years when nearly everyone in the group has checked out. They just single highhandedly reduced their earning potential and the SNSD brand is now on life support and they just can’t ever recover the OT9 magic again.

The girls knew too, they talked about it a lot recently that the OT9 was their legacy. So, really this not a sudden thing but something that had been going on for awhile and finally it just all came to a head. Maybe removing Jessica was the actually best case scenario for the group. If other girls were threatening to leave if she didn’t or who knows what. Seriously makes me wonder what is going on behind the scenes of SM.

    • I agree with you. If it was really over money, I don’t think there was a need to kick her out so abruptly as I’m sure it would have been a long-standing fight since even before the start of her fashion company.
My guess is something big and sudden happened before her return from NYC which made the company lose sight of their reputation and the reputation of the group and act swiftly like that.

    • Finally, a comment that really has a basis. I believe so too. I can’t back up anyone in this issue because first, as what you’ve said, SM is a big company who will not just ruin their business just for a business that is about to open up. I mean SM can make their own line promoted by SNSD if they want to. Second, if SNSD or even Taeyeon is jealous of Jessica and kicking her out will cause a great havoc in the company’s business, talking about the stocks dropping when the news came out, why would they push through with kicking out Jessica? I mean, jealousy of one person, or the 9 members or even the members’ [arents? Really?
I also want to say that I am not a big fan of SM’s management towards their artists though I love most of their artists but there has got to be a greater and bigger problem here other than the 8 members’ jealousy towards Jessica’s business or the Taeyeon vs Jessica silent/cold war. If SM is really about the business or money, the top or number 1 not to do action will be kicking a member out of their famous groups like SNSD.
I mean think of it, just because the members or Taeyeon, the leader, is jealous , they will kick her out? SM is not even through with EXO’s Kris and F(x)’s Sulli.
I strongly believe there is a deeper reason and both parties are not willing to bring that in public.

    • I agree with this take on the events. How I see it, both SM and Jessica have their perspectives on what went down. For Jessica, it may be true that it caused her a lot of emotional distress, and in her opinion she’s always put the group first. But for the company and the other 8 girls, it’s also true that the amount of time invested into the company, to the extent of missing rehearsals for the fan meeting for example, may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back. Jessica has been increasingly blasé about the effort she puts into the group (and so have the other girls). Just compare them from debut to present — they’ve clearly lost their drive and love for performing.

    • Well said…
And please, Sooyoung’s shooting drama is not similar to Jessica’s attending to her Blanc business.
Whatever K-pop related-activities participated by the members e.g. drama, TTS, film, spokesperson to a brand are managed by & collaborated with SM. So, SM has a share and gain a return. Scheduling also made easy.
As for Jessica, her Blanc is her own PERSONAL activities (you can read business too). SM dun have a say in it. Plus, her schedule is and will surely clashing with GG’s activities.
If I were her, when I was called for a meeting and the ultimatum by the members, I would go and talk to my so-called honey bunny hideous Tyler Kwon and tell him that for a temporary, I will be the sleeping partner cum spokesperson. My travelling, business marketing etc. Tyler honey has to help to hire someone else. Well, Tyler has gotten too much involvement for sure, and Jessica’s image is no longer as innocence as we know, knowing who is Tyler, and who is Gillian and who is Edison.

GG should always come first since you signed the contract, and it is your full time commitment. The rest is the plus plus until contract lapsed or terminated.

  17. It was not Hyoyeon who cry at te fan meeting but Seohyun. The pic shows Seohyun though. I’m not a sone but I feel sad that they will end this way..

  18. If u want the girls generation members to get less why don’t just change the name of the group
And start again cause this is not girls generation without jessica cause she also sang in the snsd songs so if u want girls generation to be girls generation then put jessica bck change your songs your group name and who cares if she wants to get married? She is in the right age SM think b4 you try!!

  19. I’m team Jessica. I don’t see why she couldn’t balance her clothing line and being a GG member. Other groups have done that like Super Junior. Her group members also shoot dramas/movies and host variety shows yet its a problem when she wants to have a career as a designer.
I wasn’t a fan before as a barely pay attention to GG but I’m a dan of hers now. Its refreshing to see an idol plan for her future in something she is good at and not trying to do something she is bad in like acting.

  20. why do we always blaming the others if the truth is there’s a conflict between them…we dont know what happened,..this is so hard for me and to all the fans all over the world,..please people i am asking you all not only to judge other members of GG, the SM Ent. and also jessica…maybe there’s a purpose for this…i just pray that whatever jessica wanted to her she wil achieve it the same with the other SNSD members….i dont want to bash either jessica or the SNSD members..i love them all…i just want to prayed for them now….:(

  21. I am wondering if we will get news that Jessica is probably pregnant. Not based on anything I read or anything. However, this is the only reason I can see of why her agency dropped her out of GG so suddenly before a show in one of the worlds largest markets. This makes sense for SM to drop her so fast. Not surprised that members are finally wanting to leave. They are getting older.

    • Even then it would have been wise to break the news of letting her go after the news of pregnancy (if there is one). Precisely, they would have had the perfect excuse to let her go by then. It baffles me why they had to do it this way. It just makes zero business sense.

      • When people are fired at the worst hours,it meant they did something irreparable beyond negotiations.First to tweet is a smart move on her side.

    • I really don’t think so. She had grand plans for school and starting her business. I think marriage possibly, but not pregnancy.

The simple fact is Jessica has been lazy as hell for years (and her fans will admit this) so you can’t really blame the rest of SNSD to think she’s not going to be committed to the group while she’s off in NY at a fashion school.

  22. Jessica’s first statement seems to have been written by Tyler. Fan’s spotted his writing style using “-” in his sentence.Similar to her first weibo. 2nd statement was released by her PR agency on blanc. Notice the 2nd said 29th and the first weibo said she was told 30th morning?

Anyway, seems like the whole saga started with her I want to leave snsd in spring which she kept saying till July. Suddenly she wanted in. In the Japan DVD they have just release, it is hilarious, they asked the members if they ever thought of quitting. She said I think of it several times a day.

At kcon Tiffany congratulated her in her designer new venture so I don’t think they were against it. She said it herself they were OK. Money isn’t an issue either as they always kept their own solo earnings. Seems like it her issue was something else. So why 8 girls turn around and change their mind? I think it has to do with her involvement in blanc and how it was run. I also thought why is blanc is bad until a sone explained to me. He said go look at blanc and how it as marketed you will see how it is a fan sucking business. There is no design dreams, it is a site selling get idol items at high price. No better than SM. A lot of it was playing off zone emotions to support at us 250 a pair. At the same time, it was said that other than official events she didn’t care to take part in any other team related activities.

On paper jessica played the right cards and seems the victim. But to sone, she is famous for not giving her 100% at concerts. Her nickname is lazy jung. I don’t know who is the victim there. For 8 girls to turn around and do this, something must have happened because neither they nor sm are stupid to not know that doing it this way is the worst way. It must have been so serious that they had to do it.tokyo dome would have been their last concert but something happened so serious that they were willing to risk the news and scandal. So think again, who is the victim? Seohyun the uprighteous maknaes would do this to jessica ?

  23. So it IS about the money after all. Riddle me this, had Jessica shared the earnings of BLANC to SM, then would have they complained how ever she marketed her items? It’s absurd that she wouldn’t capitalize on her Idol fame and status to sell her goods. SM knows this, she knows this, the rest of them would have known this. They ALL basically ride on Sone’s emotions to sell their “goods”–themselves.

I’m in no way a Sone myself or fan of any of the girls either. But this is some crazy business management happening here, in my eyes.

  24. This is massively biased in Jessica’s favour.

From what I understand, she wanted to leave and had been planning on leaving for months but was biding her time. Then she started her fashion line and the other SNSD members were fine with it, so long as she could keep up with her SNSD activities. She couldn’t, and was probably told that something had to give and that something ended up being SNSD.

I get that Jessica feels she’s in the right (but then, so do we all, even when we’re wrong), but the way she’s choosing to respond and to portray her former group members leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

(and as many other commenters have already said, the girl crying in the picture is Seohyun, not Hyoyeon.)

  25. I’m sure everyone can take a bit of the blame for this whole debacle. Jessica seemed to want to be superwoman by being a member of SNSD, embarking on a fashion career, and supposedly planning upcoming nuptials; and on top of it all of these would be happening in 3 different locales: South Korea, New York, and China. The girls all seem supportive of each individuals personal endeavours (i.e. acting, variety shows, sub-unit groups, school, etc.), so I don’t see why the girls would oppose Jessica’s fashion dreams. I don’t doubt that Jessica loves being a member of SNSD, but for her to reap the benefits and not put in the same amount of work (i.e. rehearsal time) I could see why the other girls would feel like Jessica had put them second to her new clothing company. Jessica is a smart girl and she probably knows that the lifespan of an Idol isn’t forever, so it would be natural for her to want to pursue other interests. If her heart is not in being an idol anymore then I think it is a good time to part ways, but between SM, Girls’ Generation and Jessica I wish they could have parted ways on better terms because it feels like there are just too many misunderstandings and hurt feelings for all involved now.

Like all K-pop scandals I don’t think we’ll ever really get the truth and we’ll never really know what went on behind the scenes or how strong the relationships really are between the girls off-camera. I thought Girls’ Generation really would make it all the way, but I guess all good things must come to an end. This is sad, sad day in K-pop.

  26. I can’t with the smearing campaign against Sica. There’s a more profesional way of getting rid of someone. Maybe not re-signing them again for another 3 years? Not giving them the boot D-1 of prior engagement? Sica is entitled to feeling angry, if the other 8 really have the ~soshibond~ they’d try and settle the problem, not kicking her out.

    • I believe in the 8 girls too. Something big must have happened, and we may never know what. Tyler Kwon seems shady too.

  27. As more and more of these groups rub shoulders with outside pop stars of the same stature, they are seeing the unfairness of the “god like” power of the companies they work for.
the dramas portray an unrealistic view of how these artists are living, when in reality they it’s horrifying what they can’t afford. The contracts would be considered outrageous if not illegal here (US)
Think of the recent changes to the employment laws for minors over there, which can still be considered half-baked cray cray.

We are both part of the problem and the solution. Our outside demand is creating the monster but, it’s also holding the mirror.

It’s a shame to say but a “Jessica” perhaps 4 years ago would never have had a boyfriend or would’ve been to scared to start a business.

It’s good that the artists are starting to see and use their own power.

  28. I actually don’t understand why SM entertainment kicked out jessica without any valid or acceptable reason. For me it hurts also that the day before their fan meeting at china jessica received a note from SM that she is no longer part of snsd see it really hurts because it’s not her decision to quit snsd because being a snsd member is a big thing to her. That’s why, wathever may happen now, we should only blame SM entertainment because their are the responsible of all these things and we should always think that God will make a way..

    • People like you who don’t know the entire story, but still decides to make a one-sided accusation really makes me cringe. Search ’18 things to know about jessica exit from snsd’ and view the whole story; not just one side. You shouldn’t base your thoughts on a letter basically written to make her look like the victim.

  29. This reminds me of what Taboo (black eyed peas) told 2NE1 essentially saying be careful of what fame & money can bring. Egos or jealousy or whatever can tear a group apart if you’re not careful and communicate. In the end it’s even harder to keep 9 people together and on the same page career wise..

  30. indestructible ehh?? I don’t think so.. SME got all behind of what is happening right now to the girls. I bet GG must leave the SME and transfer to YG family.. There, there is no forcing of being kicked from the group.

  31. The other thing that I’ve observed as I have seen the photos of the group on their new album THE BEST, Taeyeon seems not smiling at all at their group picture. Is she showing something that there is a member that she really don’t want to stay? Well, I’m not blaming and I love Taeyeon but that’s what others statement..

  32. Jessica should reveal the names of her co-members who told her to choose between SNSD or her business.. She made it more general. I can’t contain the feeling if Tiffany can do it to Jessica since they were as sisters (aside from the others) because they have watched each other grown.

  33. I agree to the comments saying that there’s more to this than meets the eye. SM is a big company, with lots of advicers and PRs. What kind of company would want their sales to drop (since that’s the obvious result of all of this) just because of a little girlie fight between members? I know Jessica should get her own life. But first and foremost, she’s a GG member. She should comply with the needs of the group first. Leading a company requires a lot of time, more than she can give since being an idol requires almost 100% of your time. Yoona barely slept when she’s doing a drama. What more when it’s managing a company? By the way, I also happen to notice Jessica’s lack of energy when on stage. That bothered me a long time ago.

Also, regarding the professionalism of Jessica / SM, I think idols posting their message online before contacting the other party is rude. No offense but if you really want to fix this things, why release a statement that will make it impossible? I mean, you could have texted, emailed or sent a letter to GG right? Why release it to the net? Don’t tell me the reason is letting the public/fans know the truth. If you love someone, would you broadcast his/her wrongdoings/your problems to everyone? No. You’ll talk it out, privately. If she wants to let out her feelings, well she has her own family. She can confide to them. There’s no other reason in posting it except to clean your hands and be the victim (tho maybe she is? idk). Altho GG may be at fault (idk the real reason so I won’t judge them), they stayed silent. They didn’t give opposing comments to Jessica. You see, celebrities complain about their personal life being sniffed out but they just don’t see that they’re the ones creating havoc in the first place.

SM was shocked with the post right? She just acted out of emotions. One wrong move caused all the havoc. Remember the reminder for internet users? “Think before you click, Calm down before you post.” Too bad she didn’t do those 2 first.

  34. OMFG I fucking hate it when you blame Taeyeon for every fucking things. Seriously, you Jessica fans seriously needs to grow up. Maybe Jessica is the bitch who screw up everything to have all the member turned their back on her. If she is not a bitch why would the members turned their back on her. The members wouldn’t just sided Taeyeon for no reason, maybe Jessica really did screw up and they had all enough of her attitude. I like to believe SM screw things up but putting everything but I hate it when Jessica’s stan blame Taeyeon everything. Jessica might be a real bitch to have everyone even the whole damn company to turn on her back. If we put things this way, you Jessica’s fan might be piss too right? So stop talking bad about Taeyeon. Taeyeon doesn’t have the power alone to screw things for Jessica, it must be her damn fault to have her own 8 sisters to turn on her back.

  35. I always knew that something like this would happen. But I thought it would be Seohyun the one that finally leave. That’s funny because, Seohyun and Jessica are the real talents. Seohyun is a really great dancer, great singer, plays intrument, great personality, etc. Jessica is really sweet and own a beautiful voice. They are natural stars. I believe the problem of SNSD are Taeyeon and Tiffany. OMG Tifanny, such a fake and envious person. Always talking like she is better than the rest (specially with real talent like Seo) when in fact, she is not a good dancer and her voice is weak. And Taeyeon, well…. is the best friend. The are pretty similar. But al least, taeyeon own a pretty voice.

  36. Who the hell to say that Jessica Was not good at all…..she was the best in SNSD…i came to know about snsd through jessica only…..she is the cutest ice princess…..!!!!
So my request to u all snsd Fans plez….support Jessica and lets chance the mind of SM…to Bring back Jessica once Again !!!!!Plez plez plez plez plez plez plez plez plez plez!!!!!!!!!! Help !

  37. SM seems like a s**ty company. Looks like you need to let go of your dreams and LIFE to be involved with this company? Talk about making a contract with the devil.
I hope TaeYeon feels the worst for this. Jessica wasn’t even my favorite member but the way they threw out her makes me throw up and dislike other members for being useless. I haven’t listened to their new songs since Jessica was kicked out.

  38. I feel so bad for her. Even thought I don’t really like Jessica, but I have some respect for her after this. My bias Yuri I kind of loss respect to her. To me SNSD are fake bitches. EVen thought I love the dancing line.
