Oguri Shun Welcomes Baby with Yamada Yu as Nobunaga Concerto Drops More Goodies

Holy bazookas is this upcoming J-dorama looking better and better. With less than two weeks left before the premiere of the Fuji TV getsu9 (Monday at 9) Nobunaga Concerto, the production blew me away with the release of the fantastic drama posters. I haven’t seen a single drama poster this creative with great narrative foreshadowing all year. Why can’t K-dramas be like this? The drama poster shows lead Oguri Shun, playing two characters with one being the time-traveling modern high school student and the other famed General Oda Nobunaga, sitting in a subway car surrounded by Edo period historical figures played by Yamada Takayuki, Shibasaki Kou, and Mukai Osamu.

Outside the window are warring samurais fighting while inside the train car we see Nobunaga’s battle gear stored in the top compartment. Shun is rocking this youthful shit-eating grin that’s perfect for his character while both Takayuki and Osamu look very much like Edo era warriors in the way each is sitting on the seat. Kou is adorable and I’m assuming she’ll be whipping the high school substitute Oda Nobunaga into shape as his very competent wife. This drama looks equal parts fish-out-of-water hijinks and serious stuck in the past in the middle of a war angst. Love it!

I’m sorry but he’s taking a selfie?!?! LOLOLOLOL, and look at how the other three are just so amused by him.

Hhhhhmmmm, General Oda is muy caliente. Just my style if I may say so. Shun seriously is having the best year ever what with the critically acclaimed Border, the box office hit Lupin the 3rd, and just welcomed the arrival of a bouncing baby girl with wife Yamada Yu. I hope filming this dorama doesn’t severely interfere with his new daddy diaper duties. Check out the new preview for episode 1 as well as a teaser filmed Shun shot-for-shot as the live-action version of the opening sequence for the Nobunaga Concerto anime series.

Oguri Shun Welcomes Baby with Yamada Yu as Nobunaga Concerto Drops More Goodies — 12 Comments

  1. This has made me really happy, and it’s just the teaser! I hope this is easier to find subs than it was for Border. The search (and the poor quality) was worth it for the story and for Shun. I will start searching soon.

  2. I’ll be looking forward to this for Fujiki, Mukai and Yamada Takayuki. Not keen on Oguri Shun, but congrats on the baby – maybe the new arrival will help him finally settle into his marriage with Yu.

Also, I think sources have it that a close friend of the family stated the couple welcomed a baby girl, not boy.

  3. I think he got a baby girl according to some and Yu’s baby shower had pink balloons. It’s not been confirmed the gender just that the baby was born late last month.
This looks hilarious! Shun’s bromance with Yamada is adorable. And Kou, she’s flawless.

  4. hooo yeaahhhh, another sengoku jidai drama XD. There’s many pretty boys though from Oguri, Mukai to Fujihiki Naito XD. Although Oda Nobunaga already portrayed in many drama’s (as the main or just supporting character).

  5. Cheesus. How can he flip so easily from adorable unsure of himself to heartbreakingly aware? I can’t wait for this. Thanks for the news, vids and pictures.

    • It’s going to be weird if the only 2 doramas I watched entirely this year headline Shun. Nothing wrong with it but it does highlight his great taste in picking promising projects.

  6. Yamada Takayuki looks so beautiful in the poster-that’s the best I’ve seen him recently. He has been making himself look err.. unattended so this poster surprised me more. Still a little disheveled but I like this look.

Oh and I am so happy for Shun!

  7. The anime adaptation was wonderful and love all the seiyuu’s work but I also loved the narrator’s read and voice and I just found out that Oguri Shun was the narrator 😉
Well I hope I get to watch this adaptation too and see how it does , and watch Shun act as Nobunaga and Mitsuhide.

  8. well the source material is artistically amazing so no wonder the poster is that good, cn’t really compare with kdramas as jdramas are generally less generic and steretypical and have more depth and variety

  9. omg. i really wanted this news. congrats to my favorite actor, oguri shun. hope osamu makio will marry, soon. hope its me on him side *lol
