First Look at Falling for Soon Jung with Jung Kyung Ho and Kim So Yeon

The first stills are out for the upcoming jTBC drama Falling for Soon Jung (Falling for Innocence) and I would have honestly forgotten about this drama if I hadn’t run across these stills. Goes to show dramas really need to keep pace with promotional material. It’s a bit early yet for this drama to be gearing up since it’s scheduled to take over the time slot from the sageuk Maids, which airs on Fri-Sat, but that drama had to take a month long hiatus due to a set fire tragedy and recently just started airing again.

This means Falling for Soon Jung will hit the air sometime in March rather than February, which doesn’t bother me and truth be told filming early is never a bad thing. The drama stars three leads I like whenever they play suitable roles, namely Jung Kyung Ho, Kim So Yeon, and Yoon Hyun Min. I’ve got a gut feeling this one just might work on their chemistry alone despite the rather ho-hum plot synopsis. On top of that there is the visual incongruity of seeing kick-ass Shi Hyun and Yeon Soo from Cruel City and Seon Hwa from IRIS in a warm romantic drama about cellular memory.

Not sure if Jung Kyung Ho got any feedback from real life girlfriend Sooyoung when it comes to taking on a drama role where the lead character falls for another due to an organ transplant’s lingering cellular memory. Sooyoung’s My Spring Days was an unexpected success despite the resemblance to Summer Scent so it’s not all doom and gloom for Falling for Soon Jung. The drama is about Jung Kyung Ho’s investment banker shark who gets a organ transplant surgery and becomes a warm hearted man who ends up falling for his long suffering secretary who has always been by his side. I’m rolling my eyes as I type this but I think the three leads are so talented, especially in unexpected ways, that I’m willing to give this drama the benefit of the doubt.

First Look at Falling for Soon Jung with Jung Kyung Ho and Kim So Yeon — 23 Comments

  1. I love Kim So Yeon! I think she’s such an underrated actress. She knows how to deliver every character she played regardless of genre. I am definitely checking this out.

  2. I don’t think the main pairing looks all that good in these stills (Kim So Yeon’s styling really ages her… I almost thought I was looking at Lee Mi Sook) but maybe a teaser might change my mind?

  3. Can we just take these three actors and throw them into an action movie/drama together? I know that I can trust Kim So Yeon to deliver in any role, but I really miss her acting like a total bad-ass.

  4. I really like the 3 actors ! They are all underrated for me. So I’m curious to see this drama. Cruel City was a jTCB’drama and was so good. I hope this one would be good too.

  5. “the lead character falls for another due to an organ transplant’s lingering cellular memory”

Actually, the whole point of that Drama is that he DIDN’T fall for her because of cellular memory. “I love you for you, not my ex-wife’s heart” was the crux of the story. Unlike the unspeakably awful Summer Scent, My Spring Days repeatedly trashed the very concept of cellular memory, openly mocking it. Which is exactly as it should be.

    • Yup, agree with Stuart here.

What made My Spring Days refreshing besides the excellent acting was the whole “I love you. My heart might have first led me here (through being thankful for having it), but I chose to love you and it’s not my transplanted heart which is the cause.

  6. There must be something different for them to accept the role right?

Look at how KMHM and HJM turned out? I am keeping my fingers crossed.

  7. Could be a sleeper hit, right? With this cast.
Putting all these actors that can beat each other up into a soft, warm show may bring a level of energy that brings up the script.

Who is that pretty man with the pretty lips in the glasses. If I had 30 more mintues to stare at him, I could place him.

      • didn’t he played in i need romance 3 kim so yeon’s best friend lover? i loved their story very much, sometimes it outshined kim so yeon and sung joon OTP..

      • @pearl286 THAT’S IT!!
        You have saved my sanity.
I agree. That was awesome all by itself. It could have been an indy film.
It should be an indy film with them all over again.

  8. I would normally never watch this drama. But it’s got Jung Kyung Ho and Kim So Yeon AND it’s JTBC, so how can I not watch it?! Two of my faves plus a cable channel that continually turns out quality stuff. I must watch this.

  9. I don’t know why but I find it so cuuute that Sooyoung and Jung Kyung Ho got to act the “same” role XD.
Just imagining them talking about their roles makes me giggle ^^

  10. Although the plot sounds like my spring days male version, the 3 main actors are win win to me especially Jung kyung ho and i do hope he’ll have some bromance with yoon hyung min like they had in cruel city but i’m doubtful since they likely to be rivals XD
love kim so yeon since Iris . she is really underrated. despite INR3 wasn’t her best role but she is really good actress who knows how to deliever her role.

  11. Oh goody, I too forgot about this drama. Hopefully this is better than Jung Kyung Ho’s last drama, Endless Love. That was a torture to watch!
I agree with Rina that this plot is really too “boring” for Jung Kyung Ho & Kim So Yeon’s badassery. They both need like an action driven drama because they both could be real bad if needed 🙂 🙂
To think if “Shi Hyun/Doctor’s Son” from Heartless City got together with “Sun Hwa” from Iris- now that would be epic!
