High Society Drops More Deliciously Pretty Drama Previews

With Heard it Through the Grapevine wrapped up this week, I can devote all my attention on the next SBS Mon-Tues drama High Society (formerly Chaebol’s Daughter). It is reportedly getting an English title of The Privileged, which sounds like a horror show circa The CW, so I’ll stick with calling it the translation of the Korean title of High Society. I may be initially interested in this drama for Sung Joon and Park Hyung Sik, but the more I see the more I also like the two leading ladies UEE and Lim Ji Yeon in their roles. UEE is the rich girl and Lim Ji Yeon is the poor girl, they become best friends and will have their own love lines with the two male leads respectively.

Folks loved UEE in Ojakkyo Brothers which I didn’t watch, and for many years I wondered if I simply never watched a UEE role I liked which is why she’s never worked for me. This role is right up my alley, a headstrong and gutsy chaebol’s maknae daughter that hides her wealth to find true love, basically the reverse of Cheongdamdong Alice, with Sung Joon being the poor guy who knows what she’s hiding and may fall in love with her while simultaneously using her to climb the ladder. Check out the two new drama previews below and enjoy all the action, it looks less rom-com than the posters suggest but the melodrama seems at a manageable level.

  1. I’m very much looking forward to this. I’ve only seen Uee in Ho Gu’s Love and I liked her performance in that, so hope she can do even better with this one.

  2. I really wanted to see Hogu’s Love but I got distracted(by other dramas) while it was airing. And I haven’t had the time to check it again. So I’m looking forward to this one. 🙂
