Upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs Drama Yongpal Releases Dramatic Teaser with Kim Tae Hee and Joo Won

Leave it to upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs drama Yongpal (Korean title Yongpalyi) to jolt me awake. I don’t necessarily like the first teaser (still mulling it over), but it’s definitely dramatic and memorable, though KBS revenge thriller Shark did something very similar which takes points off Yongpal for originality. Currently airing doppleganger melodrama Mask remains the ratings leader in the time slot opposite vampire sageuk Scholar Who Walks the Night and just started political drama Assembly, which makes things easier for Yongpal when it premieres in a few weeks to hopefully hold onto the audience.

The first teaser includes only leads Joo Won and Kim Tae Hee, who narrates as a damsel in distress and finds herself “saved” by Joo Won. It all happens in slow motion with lots of pretty blue robe fluttering in the wind/water/whatever. These two actually look fantastic together, visually at least, but I still have no real clue what this drama is about beyond the description of him being a doctor who does illegal but highly profitable house calls while she’s an heiress stuck in a coma.

First teaser for Yongpal:

Upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs Drama Yongpal Releases Dramatic Teaser with Kim Tae Hee and Joo Won — 27 Comments

  1. To me he looks slightly awkward there. She sells it better. I know he’s a better actor than her, but idk… They look good together though.

    • One thing I found about him (though I may be wrong and hope that I am) he doesn’t seem to have chemistry with his leading ladies. The premise here seems interesting but I think it may work better as a movie. In my head since we have the girl in a coma the film can focus on being moody and dreamy, switching between reality and the dream world…

  2. That teaser is so extra dramatic with the slo-mo visuals and music. It made me roll my eyes in the end. Not feeling excited or turned off. Prob a drama I need to watch a full episode to get a real feel on.

  3. okay i’m very sorry for hijacking this post but i had to share this somewhere shin min ah and so ji sub are confirmed to star in a new kbs drama called oh my God which i think is delightfully apt, somebody slap me awake because this has to be a dreammmmmmm.

    • U re nt dream I also saw the news on soompi I was like stop kidding me I can’t wait for drama to begin and am pray no one should drop out and happy ed-firti to all muslim and our time zone may not be the same in ur country it may today, 2moro,or yestday bt happy ed-firti to u all

  4. Looks a bit like Dortor X, this first teaser tells me nothing except that Kim Tae Hee is truly magnificent !!

  5. Teaser looks a like a Secret imitation. LMAO I just can’t! How I loathe these kind of “teasers”! Just like the teasers for Cruel City. They promise something and we won’t get it. *sigh*

Anyways I’m not sure about this drama either. Could be a hit or a miss. But the plot sounds generic so I don’t expect anything extraordinary.

  6. Why did they used Secret teaser? uhg… and I really dislike Kim Tae hee. she’s overacting eben in this short teaser.

  7. Can’t wait for the actual trailer of this drama. Even I’m sad that mask going to end soon, I’m glad that this drama going to replace it.

Kim tae hee, I look forward for her acting. Even she is not the greatest actress, at least she still can act, depends on the character. Since I love her so much, I will just watch this..

Joo won, this is the first time I found him so hot. Kkk.

  8. KTh is a very talented actress. Interesting they would match these two up for the leads. She may be exactly what makes Joo Won more interesting. I hope they have chemistry together. I wish them both the best.

    • kTH as far as I know, wud definitely have a chemistry with her co-star.hopefully they both will have the chemistry…
