Throwback School Days TW-Movie Our Times Looks Adorable and Primed for August Box Office Success

There’s a cool and cute little Taiwanese movie to look forward to next month come August as Our Times (Chinese title 我的少女時代 Era of My Girl Teens) opens with tons of great buzz. The movie is produced by famed Taiwanese drama producer Chen Yu Shan, who is a household name thanks to producing hit dramas like Autumn’s Concerto, King of Lan Ling, My Queen, Lady and Liar, Material Queen, Prince Turned into Frog, and many more. This movie is her homage to the high school days of her youth, set in the early1990’s and will likely garner understandable comparison to the hit TW-movie You Are the Apple of My Eye.

I love that she got a main cast of up-and-comers, with relative newbie actress Vivian Sung headlining after she shot to fame with last year’s Gidden‘s movie Coffee Waiting Love. Vivian has been called the little Kimi Hsia for her resemblance, but I think she actually reminds me acting style of Shim Eun Kyung. Joining her is Darren Wang, Dino, and Dewi Chien as the youthful cast goes back to high school for romance and growing up pain hijinks. The movie trailer is soooooo charming and funny I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve watched it. Bonus points for baking in the fangirling Andy Lau thread which pays off with his cameo in the movie. Check out the movie pics and English subbbed preview below.

Throwback School Days TW-Movie Our Times Looks Adorable and Primed for August Box Office Success — 24 Comments

  1. This looks hilarious and exactly what I need to close out summer. Sigh. It probably won’t be available where I live until winter . . .Wait, that will be perfect, too. Thanks, Koala!

  2. I’ll watch this, one problem: I don’t understand mandarin! And it will take forever for english subtitles….

  3. This is so sweet and cute. I love these types of school movie because they emphasize on youth, innocence, passion, etc. This reminds me of the fun things I had at school in VN and makes me miss my younger self.

  4. Was I the only one who thought I saw Chen Bo Lin on the first poster? I clicked in happily, thinking that this will be a movie with Chen Bo Lin but this seems like it will still be a good watch even without him! And yes, I have never seen Vivian Sung, but I thought that was Kimi Hsia towards the end when I was watching the trailer. Can’t wait for it 🙂 On a side note, anyone knows where can i watch Cafe Waiting Love?

  5. Looks like the TW/C entertainment industry just loves producing movies focused on school/nostalgia themes like You Are The Apple Of My Eye. If I’m not mistaken, Jerry Yan and Joe Chen will also have cameo/guest roles here as they were seen filming for this in Taiwan last March 🙂

  6. This looks so hilarious! I want to watch i nowwwww.
The new actress really looks like Kimi Hsia! I had to take a double look to
realize that it wasn’t her 🙂
    Can’t wait!

  7. Went back to rewatch this after the theme song. I can’t wait to watch this movie! It looks fabulous, I get so many feels from the trailers alone.
