Joo Sang Wook, Choi Kang Hee, and Cha Ye Ryun are the Confirmed Leads of MBC’s Glamorous Temptation

There’s casting movement coupled with a major reversal for upcoming MBC Mon-Tues drama Glamorous Temptation. Earlier this week saw the casting of the teen leads Kim Sae Ron and Nam Joo Hyuk, roles that are less the typical child portion length but will be holding down the fort in the first 10 episodes of what is scheduled to be a 50 episode drama. Their casting has been received as a hit and a miss, and I feel the same way with the now revealed casting of the adult leads.

Joo Sang Wook and Choi Kang Hee are confirmed as the leads of Glamorous Temptation, with his casting a surprise because his name was not one of the rumored leadsĀ attached to the project and her casting an even bigger surprise since her side claimed she turned it down already. They will be playing the adult counterparts to Nam Joo Hyuk and Kim Sae Ron’s teen roles. Glamorous Temptation will follow the currently airing Splendid Politics (Hwajung) sometime in October and run for 50 episodes to end in March of 2016.

Rounding out the main love triangle will be perennial second female lead Cha Ye Ryun, who formed the life and love rivalry with Choi Kang Hee that will be the center of the story. Hopefully the adult second male lead will be someone that I love and thus give me incentive to check this drama out. Otherwise right now it’s a total pass for me based on the casting alone, not to mention the long length and makjang sounding synopsis.

Joo Sang Wook, Choi Kang Hee, and Cha Ye Ryun are the Confirmed Leads of MBC’s Glamorous Temptation — 26 Comments

  1. I’m usually not too picky about the child actors having to look like the adults, but… NJH is super tall and lean and just does not look like Joo Sang Wook. I guess people do shrink in their old age…

And I agree, can’t really see the chemistry with the adults, but I think the kids will work out all right. Though someone is still miscast here.

I’ll probably check out the first 10 episodes. I do like JSW, but nah…

  2. I like JSW too but not enough to watch it..though i liked CKH in HTH but still it won’t make me watch another drama of her..pass

  3. Choi Kang Hee is a miss for me guess I’ll pass on this drama unless it gets good ratings or very HIGH positive reviews…

  4. Yikes Choi Kang Hee! Now all my initial interest fizzled for good. I guess I’ll just tune in for the first 10 episodes of the young counterparts just to see my baby boy Nam Joo Hyuk then drop it. Sigh. I have a weak spot for Joo Sang Wook but Choi Kang Hee is a deal-breaker for me. I don’t find her pretty nor charming at all. Sorry to her fans, I don’t hate her but I just can’t stand her on my screen so instead of ridiculing her, I’ll just avoid her dramas and shut up.

  5. Same here yo!!! I can’t Stand Choi Kang hee. I just can’t….. I’d just watch the paint dry off my walls instead

  6. I like Choi Kang Hee, she’s a very unique individual and actress and she can be refreshing in sea of very similar faces and styles. She was wonderful in Heart to Heart and I feel like she truly shines in indie, quirky productions like it. I’m really surprised she doesn’t mainly act in indie k-movies . She also had such phenomenal chemistry with Chung Jung Kyung that coupled with the writing, I felt for the first time watching a kdrama that they felt like such a real couple.

I agree that she and JSW are mismatched and will probably have zero chemistry but hey, you never know. Hope the drama is good because JSW in particular has picked duds since Cunning Single Lady.

  7. Ew. Botched THAT casting. Leads will have ZERO chemistry. Joo Sang Wook and Choi Kang Hee? NO. I am, however, interested in the younguns. Will check out their portion.

  8. Joo sang wook shud be paired with the prettier actress (ofc can act)… Hmm. I really want to see him but dunno will watch this or not.

  9. I think the PD has good reason why he picks CKH into this drama. CKH is great actress not just in comedic but also in mello. And she always do romantic comedy in her drama so I can understand why everyone thinks shes not fit in this drama.
I’ve seen her drama and movie in the past. I watched Wanee and Junah about ten years ago in one of broadcast station in my country I watched it because Kim Hee Sun in there. At that time I didnt know much about actor and actress Korea the only actress I knew just Kim Hee Sun and Ahn Jae Wook for the actor. I found one of the character in that movie was pretty and has chems with two male (I’ve just know that they are Jo Seung Wo and Joo Jin Mo when I rewatched this movie at gooddrama). I’ve watched Rule of Love too when that drama air in one of station broadcast in my country. First, I didnt interested with the leading lady her looks its not like actress in most Kdrama who always beautifull or sexy, but after watched few episode. I’ve found she really good when she acts comedic and also sad scene I shipped her with Kim Min Jong and I hate Kim Ah Jong whos try to stopped KMJ to confessed. And I’ve just known that CKH is the actress in those movie/drama when I watched Protect The Boss (also in broadcast station, I’ve just knew how to watched streaming two years ago) I thought her face was familiar and I read her profile, it shocking because shes totally looks different in both drama and movie.
I dont know why people say shes not pretty or she miss. Try to watch Goodbye Mom/Ae Ja or Happiness for Sale, I’m sure you will sad tears. I guess that the reason why she has been choose. She could comedic and pitifull in the same time. I’m not her fans, but I found shes a talented. I like her acting.
About the chemistry I really curious. I hope they can match each other.

  10. I like Choi Kang Hee too…loved her in protect the boss…though the story fizzles out in the later episodes, but have doubts about Joo Sang Wook..don’t know if he can do melo….guess he’s gonna hold the ‘good doctor’ serious face look.

  11. 50 eps??!! Not even my love for Joo Sang Wook can handle that. I like JSW but the only drama of his that I’ve finished is Giant lol. BoAB wasn’t my cup of tea and I heard horror stories about the 2nd half of it. CSL was fine but I couldn’t get past 5 eps and I realized that I don’t like watching divorced couples reunite and stuff. And Masked Prosecutor, uh. When I left it, it was getting better. Not drama crack tho. Such a pity since it had really great leads.

After writing all that, I realized that Giant was around 50(?) Eps too. So I might check this out after all. šŸ™‚

  12. wow im so excited for my kim sae ron…and i hope kim sae ron,kim soo jung and kim so hyun collaborate in one drama..i think this is the best drama ever,i hope so..please šŸ™‚
