Song Joong Ki Looking Sporty Handsome Tossing Out the Ceremonial First Pitch at Baseball Game

It’s nice to see Song Joong Ki out and about doing entertainment activities while deep into the filming of upcoming KBS drama Descendants of the Sun. It’s already the start of September and not a peep on the promotion of the drama, which goes to further confirm the recent insider discussions that the drama will be airing in the beginning of 2016 rather than October 2015 as originally stated. The reason is both due to the large scale pre-production and to get the approval from China’s SARFT after submitting the complete drama so that DotS can air in Korea and China at the same time.

Song Joong Ki attended a professional baseball game this week in Daegu while wearing the uniform of the Hanhwa Eagles, there to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. That he manages to pull off orange is a feat in itself, but the more noticeable visual is that he’s back to looking flower boy skinny again. Where’d the bulk and muscles go from his army discharge? It wouldn’t be all that concerning but for him playing an army commander in DotS, and with his baby-face plus slim physique it’s going to harder to visually buy his big boss on the military base attitude. Oh wells, maybe he’s all about the laser eye intensity and less the type to use his muscles to keep him men in check.

  1. Looking forward to watching DoTS(for the leads ofc). So, while I’m sad that we’d most likely have to wait ’til 2016 to see him back on the small screen, I’m hoping they use that time to make the drama better. Joong Ki! Fighting! 🙂

  2. I’m agree with you ms koala. He look skinny wearing that custom. His baby face makes me envy. My little brother looks like him, but now he’s a little bit fat.

  3. It’s already the start of September and not a peep on the promotion of the drama, which goes to further confirm the recent insider discussions that the drama will be airing in the beginning of 2016 rather than October 2015 as originally stated.

    1) it’s not really insider discussion when one of the producers for DotS, Yoo Jong-Sun, is interviewed on KBS1 for a behind-the-scenes preview of the drama (as part of the network’s UHD special) and says they’re aiming to broadcast early next year;

    2) the powers that be never confirmed publicly any projection date for this year (any date that’s been bandied about has been pure speculation or conjecture on the part of the media etc.) and it could never have been October when they’re leaving for Greece for this month and the location shoot will carry over to next month;

    3) they’re definitely keeping everything under tight wraps (eg. carefully monitoring any spoiler leak on social media) but they’ve also made a point (a rather pointed one) of promoting and teasing about DotS as part of the network’s UHD push (eg. running PSAs after the news, a one-hour special last week on KBS1, and DotS is apparently the first k-drama to be filmed in UHD). So it may not be run-of-the-mill promotion for a k-drama but it’s certainly more than a peep, esp. when it’s all that control and monitoring that’s giving out the strongest signal re: their intent for the drama.

  4. I remember when people doubted they could buy him in the role as Kang Maru. And see what happened?! He rocked it! He turned from baby-face SJK into (not so) cold-hearted Maru with piercing eyes. 🙂 So I’m not worried about it. Also it’s probably the easiest role for him after being discharged from military only a couple months ago. 😛

    • Yep he’s definitely an actor that will play any role convincingly. He had proven his versatility and skills on a wide range of projects. I’m still awed at his skills after watching Innocent Man for the umpteenth time again yesterday. Can’t wait!

  5. You should see the BTS of his fighting here! That’s surely manly! Awesome!
