2015 Korea Drama Awards Has Misaeng and Heard it Through the Grapevine Getting Most Nods

On the even of the Seoul Drama Awards, another Korean awards show has released its nominees list for 2015 dramas and the result is a decidedly mixed bag. While I agree with the nominations for Heard it Through the Grapevine and the male leads, the inclusion of Yongpal in various categories boggles the mind since it’s only halfway through airing and has seen a decline in quality the last two weeks. Joo Won may be the hot commodity to land an inclusion in the Daesang nomination alongside Kim Soo Hyun, Ji Sung, Cha Seung Won, and Yoo Dong Geun, but Kim Tae Hee getting an acting nod for sleeping most of the drama has got to be the funniest thing ever.

I’m also disappointed to see the youngsters from Producer get recognition but not for Gong Hyo Jin and Cha Tae Hyun who gave equally good if not better performances. Misaeng and the cast got a lot of nods but it feels like the momentum for that drama has died down now and everyone is on to the next buzzy thing, so it’s not clear if the drama will do well come awards night. I adored Yoochun in The Girl Who Sees Smells but even a good performance doesn’t quite merit that role for a top acting nomination for that boy. I’m sure fans of underrated dramas like Maids and Yoona’s Street will be stoked to see those dramas included in various categories, and sometimes being nominated is win enough when hardly anyone watched. Check out the full nominations list below.

2015 Korea Drama Awards Has Misaeng and Heard it Through the Grapevine Getting Most Nods — 132 Comments

  1. I have a feeling the Daesang might be awarded to either Jisung/Yong Dong Geun. As much as I adore Joo won’s hardwork in Yongpal but he still stands a good chance in future.
Anyway keeping my fingers crossed for him 😀

  2. OMO, Sooyoung is also nominated ? Even though I want her to win, she is also hosting the award ceremony so I dont want people to bash her by saying that she can only win if she is MCing it, pretty much like MBC Drama Awards 2014.
Anyway, I am so going to livestream it.

    • I felt like she might won this one. The most memorable thing that happened during My Spring Day broadcast days were when public went from “ugh..acting idol again” to “OMG! She’s an actress!!!” after a couple of episodes. And from a comment section full of complementary over ‘God Kam Woosung’, you got Sooyoung’s name being praises at the top of the comments. Her acting impact to the public as far as I remembered it, was more than IU did in Producer.
However, it doesn’t matter if she isn’t getting the award. Being nominated is already a huge honour as a first timer as a lead in a national broadcast tv.

      • Sooyoung’s character is favorable but not IU in Producer. Yet you have to see her in more dramas to really assess her acting skills. One drama alone isn’t really sufficient to establish an actor/actress’ credibility. Sooyoung has got potential though. Nevertheless, IU has had impressive presentations in other dramas playing a variety of characters. She knows how to nail it whatever is handed down to her.

  3. As award shows are generelly jokes serving the flavors of the day and the shows which had the best ratings, it is indeed nice to see them nod towards real and lasting high quality products like Misaeng or Grapevine.

  4. While I like your site, but sometimes your comments are very bias. Yongpal is still generating good ratings. And this ep 11 did better than “last two episodes”. Are you expecting drama awards vehicle not to recognize highly rated dramas? I can understand giving dues to underrated shows for their quality but there is no way an awarding committee can ignore a drama like yongpal which is doing remarkably well in terms of ratings. Anyway it’s your site….

    • Maybe she’s trying to point out that a show is getting awards for its ratings and not its quality?(I’m not saying Yongpal isn’t great since I haven’t watched it). And yes Awards Shows do that all the time. But that doesn’t make it right.

And lol. People keep forgetting that it’s Koala’s Playground. She is allowed to be bias.

      • Ok qualify is subjective. Some like gothic some like melo etc
Yes misaeng is good but it doesn’t mean Yong pal is poor in quality
I never said koala is not allowed to be bias as I have also stated this is her site. What I am saying is that she is bias and at times she can say very sarcastic stuff about actors and actresses. Again, people have a right to say whatever they want and so do I.

      • Even if ppl don’t think yongpal deserves it, that does not mean yongpal wouldn’t win. What people think about quality do not matter coz 20 percent viewers in South Korea think otherwise. Why do you reply to me? I am not in any position to give or not give award to any entertainers.

    • Well, it’s true that YP has not finished airing, there was a drop in quality in episodes 7 to 10 as agreed by most unbiased Beanies, it may still crash and burn, so to be nominated for Best Drama seems to be a bit premature.

      • I am not koala or owner of this site. I am not a producer of yongpal and I am not in the awards committee. Why do you bother to reply to me?

      • Well, like you said yourself, people have a right to say what they want and so do I. The Playground is a place for discussion and that includes replying to you.

If you don’t want people to reply to you, don’t post comments or maybe you should ask Ms Koala to remove the reply button, LOL.

And you are so funny, since neither Ms Koala or any of us are in the awards committee, why do you even bother to comment in the first place?

      • “there was a drop in quality in episodes 7 to 10 as agreed by most unbiased Beanies…”

LOL, your self-proclaim bluntly reveals your bias. Who are you to assess the quality of a drama? As a viewer, I can only say I like this better than others or my PERSONAL taste is etc etc etc. But to label whatever Beanies (what’re these animals anyway? Never heard about the creatures) “unbiased” is kinda arrogant and overboard. Be humble. LOL, biased Beanie!

      • @Drama2015, Why do you need to attack me? You may disagree with my opinion, but surely there’s no necessity to get personal & insult another commenter just because we don’t have the same opinion of something as unimportant as a kdrama.

Who am I to assess the quality of the drama? As a viewer, I have the right to express my opinion on the drama just like you do, and my view is that Ep 7 to 10 were not as good as Ep 1 to 6.

It would seem that the general Korean viewing public, biased or unbiased, disagreed with my opinion for Ep 7 to 8 and agreed with my opinion for Ep 9 to 10, as reflected by the strong ratings in the former and big drop in the latter. So my opinion is just my opinion, just like the Korean audience, you don’t have to agree with me.

And since you don’t know Beanies or me, don’t label me biased, arrogant and overboard and say that I should be humble, and I won’t label you as a rude and arrogant butt-hurt fan. BTW, don’t LOL when you are insulting someone. It’s not funny.

      • Didn’t you also LOL in your comment “bashing” other readers who disagree with you? So you have the dang right of being rude and sarcastic but no one else can ridicule you back? Read your own comments one more time and basically I responded using the tones the same as whomever I replied to. LOL…Some ppl make comments just to start a fight and invite insult. I think you’re among them. LOL

      • @Drama2015, I’m truly puzzled. When did I bash” other readers who disagreed with me? Who was I rude and sarcastic to? Did I bash another commenter saying that they are biased, arrogant and overboard and telling them to be humble. I thought you were the one saying all these words. Are you being overly sensitive?

I think you are the one who make comments just to start a fight and invite insult. And no LOL from me.

      • @ drama2015
I have to agree with your comments. Bias is bias.

        @ febe
Nobody is attacking you, but since you defended koala, did you read her comments carefully?
        1. Yongpal dropped in quality…
What is quality? Did she mean “rating”? It dropped a bit but picked up again. On average it has been 17 % and above for the past few weeks.
So please explain what is quality?
Is quality only confined to dramas with low ratings?

        2. KTH sleeping throughout most of the drama. Sorry but my eyes don’t lie. She was in lots of flashbacks, she was inside the prison, she attempted suicide. If 20 percent viewers like to watch sleeping beauty, so she is also deserving of an award.

And now for yourself, why do you call us beanies? Are we soya beans? Or red beans? It’s also not funny to be categorized as “beans”… Unless u are referring to another site? But why bring in another site into this discussion?

      • Hi @Shue Rei, You say nobody is attacking me, but Drama2015 called me biased, arrogant, overboard, told me to be humble, what’s your view on this? Did I say call other commenters such names?

I commented because I felt that it was premature to include YP in the nominations for Best Drama and Best Screenplay simply because it has not finished airing.

Re drop in quality, I found Ep 7 to 10 to be rather boring compared to Ep 1 to 6. Maybe Ep 1 to 6 were too good, so my expectations were too high?

Re the acting of the actors and actresses, if you read my comments, you will notice that I do not criticize this.

Re Beanies, when did I call you a Beanie? I like Beanies as I think they are great people who make smart, intelligent, reasoning and unbiased comments on dramas. Are you one of them? However, I agree with you that I should not have mentioned them here.

      • @ febe

Koala’s site are filled with many controversial statements, the moment you agree with the article, you inevitably took on some heat. So please don’t take it as a personal attack. The last thing we want is for anyone to get hurt over kdrama stuff.

Many of koala’s articles are informative and interesting. But some articles are clearly “overboard” in describing the actors and actresses. And a few are quite bias and insulting (you can refer to past articles).

For example, when I commented that Lee Yoo Bi was not spectacular in the early episodes of Joseon Scholar, I never insult her or ask her to stop acting or wish her character would die. I simply hope she will bring something special to her role and I understood this is her first leading role on prime time slot. But that’s where koala and some other commentators differ and had been very insulting to actors like Gu Hye Sun and Ahn Jae Hyun in Blood and now even YongPal (though not insulting, it’s still bias).

In summary, if it’s OK for one to say others have the right to be rude, insulting and unkind. Then it’s also my right and drama2015’s right to post otherwise. Ultimately, we should note that all these actors and crews are humans. Put ourselves in their shoes and see how painful it is to receive such remarks.

Why do we say some the commentators’ feedback are illogical? Simple. If we all follow koala’s comments then kdrama will only hire a handful of actors and actresses for all dramas. Yes we all love talented and competent actors like Ji Sung, Lee Jun Ki but they can’t act in dozens of shows each year.

If I dropped a show or didn’t watch a particular drama I wouldn’t even comment. So I don’t see why people wanna trash a show or a person that they don’t watch. And why are people so full of anger and hatred towards people that they have never met? Just because they are celebrities, they don’t deserve getting insults, jeers and boohs. Do we want any celebrities getting depressed or suicidal over such hateful remarks?

You didn’t say anything wrong but in the crossfire some people became casualties. Nothing personal though.

    • I will reply to myself and since some here are acting like they know it all, I will also make some guesses on the awards

Daesang: likely joo won as the one with higher rating may win though ji sung was remarkably versatile. Let’s hope ji sung wins even though I am very impressed with joo won’s subdued and unassuming role this time.

Top Excellence male: misaeng Im shi wan

      Top excellence female:
I like all the five girls nominated. I loved jang nara’s role in IRT but KTH will win coz somebody has to recognize a good rated drama. If not her then kim hee sun.

Best drama: yongpal (some of you are just plain ignorant of the fact that shows are all being sponsored and funded so ratings do count. I really find some of the people’s comment are so unrealistic – comeon crew members and actors need to get paid, so if ratings don’t count why don’t you guys fund the TV stations yourselves and make great shows and don’t bother about ratings…)

Best screenplay: misaeng though I remember you may stand a chance

      Best director: misaeng

Male Excellence : kim from misaeng

Female: no idea as I didn’t watch any of these shows

    • I’ve only seen a few episodes of Yong Pal, but it’s already nowhere near the quality of dramas like Misaeng, Kill Me Heal Me, Producer, etc. It stands out in the nominees as being that one drama that probably shouldn’t be there lol.

    • Actually we’re all biased towards our own taste and preference. I do find Yongpal the most interesting drama to watch recently. Those other dramas nominated or mentioned in the post, including highly anticipated Producer, eventually disappointed me at the end. Many fans raved about Kill Me Heal Me. I do think the 3 main leads are impressive and have great chemistry. But the script writing was sometimes repetitive and redundant and resorted to overwhelming viewers with emotional wreckage. I eventually gave up before the last episode even closed up. I definitely disagree with Koala’s assessment about Kim Tae Hee. I’ve never been her fan but I found her acting in Yongpal very convincing and cool. Just to state my personal opinions and preference, not to offend the fans of other dramas though.

    • I honestly think most of other nominated dramas are BORING to the heck. I strongly second your thought that it’s all very subjective to judge which drama or actor/actress is good or fair or bland or whatever. Koala is surely not immune to this bias. Sometimes I found her site a really good source of recommendations of interesting dramas or acting. But other times just to the opposite. Basically I don’t have the same taste as she all the time. But entertainment is not rocket science. So I don’t care whatever other ppl or bloggers blah blah blah say as if they were drama experts. LOL…It’s nothing but business and market oriented. I happen to be one of the customers. If I like a drama or an actor/actress, I just like it and will goof up with my time to watch it. I don’t give an dang to other ppl’s “critique”. LOL…My point, I really like Yongpal a lot and have been enjoying each episode so far.

  5. GHJ has given more commendable and impressive performance than the one she did for Producer, and CTH hardly got any scenes for a good stretch of the drama. Not surprised they are excluded. What’s really surprising is Yoochun getting the nod over Jo Jung Suk. What in the what? Or that PBY is completely ignored for the likes of KTH and PSH.

I’m decidedly impressed and extremely pleased that KSH has been nominated for the Daesang after just winning it last year. Two years in a row is impressive. Surprised there’s no female in the list, but I expect it to be a tough call. Yoon Dong Geun will most likely win.

    • Although I was kinda disappointed at the highly anticipated Producer at midway through the end, I’m once again sure KSH is a true talent. He nailed that awkward, nerdy, and conflicting character even I didn’t really like him being so petty in the drama. LOL..

    • Because some of these drama are not nominated last year so this year they will be nominated. For example, pinocchio was airing around december and doesnt nominated for any award last year so it will compete for these year’s drama award..

  6. so sad, no one from Falling For Innocence. But i do like KMHM, producer, Yongpal, Yoona’s street, Oh My Ghost, I Remember You and Misaeng. SO whoever take the awards home, i’m totally fine!!!

But, no PARK BO YOUNG??? while her co-star, uri JJS oppa is on the list too??? why UEE with her lackluster??? sigh..

      • yups.. it was cute and fun to watch. even we met the annoying antagonist, but still the leads were so adorable together 🙂

Jung Kyung Ho should be on list for male excellent or even daesang.. like c’mon.. he was totally great on that show!

kim so yeon did well.. better than some of the actress on the list.. such as uee, iu and kim tae hee.. sigh.

        #justiceforPARKBOYOUNG

      • ikr.

i hope there’s a justice for them.. haha. they deserve it. JKH needs more recognition.. he’s such a good actor. and PBY.. i dont even want to compare her with UEE, Kim Tae Hee or IU.. aigoo.. no offense for this 3 ‘actress’ fans.. but seriously.. we know who better, right? 🙂

    • Yeah! Totally puzzled! Why no PBY? But UEE? Mehhhhh….LOL..Don’t hate me, UEE’s fan! Just my personal taste. She’s not on my favorite plate.

  7. For me 2015 dramas were a bit lacking, though I agree with the Misaeng nominations fully.

Seriously? Kim Tae Hee for *Top* Excellence female actress? And not Park Bo Young instead?

Agree that Gong Hyo Jin and Cha Tae Hyun should be on this list (esp. since KSH and IU are nominees…)

    Rigged.

  8. i hope for daesang award, i would want Ji Sung to win. But i have no complete either if the award goes to Cha Seung Won or Yoo Dong Geun.

i will also want Kim Sa rang to win Female Excellence. and what with UEE on the list?

  9. I totally love Joo Won but. Ji Sung. Must. Win. Something.
Which makes me wonder how come Le Sung Min isn’t nominated? ah, but is best not to ask oneself these things. Let’s just enjoy the pretty people in nice outfits and wish them all luck.

As for the Seoul Drama awards, last time you weren’t sure, but I think Ariel Lin may be attending. I saw some photos of her with Joo Won, so she’s in Seoul.

  10. I couldn’t help but smile and say “thank you” when I saw I Remember You. It definitely had a great screenplay. I really hope Ji Sung wins something because he deserves it.

    • I too am so glad to see the drama get recognised for its quality despite having been plagued with low ratings. The nominations for both leads are also well deserved.

    • Definitely, that was the only drama that got me really excited on that list. However, i highly doubt it will win as popularity sometimes is prioritized over quality, and this is undeniably the most underrated drama of the year!!

    • For what i was told from my friends… Female/male excellence vs Top male/female excellence is the difference class of acting level itself. With the top male/female excellence awards is a higher notch compared to the latter.

      Daesang>Top excellence>Excellence

    • My question exactly! The committee has included Yong Pal regardless the fact that it’s still airing but they completely ignored Punch because..? The criteria of the nominations are confusing and, although I hate conspiracy theories, we must admit that something is fishy and bizarre with this list. Compelling performances and very good dramas are mixed with less than mediocre ones. Perhaps the committee got drunken at some point during the day they were selecting the nominees, hence this mess.

      • It’s really strange that Punch did not receive any nominations at all, considering it just won Best Screenplay and was nominated for best drama and best actor at the recent Baeksang Awards.

      • ever since I finished watching Punch I have been having a legit theory that this drama is the best drama this year, it isn’t even my usual drama. I’m not the type that liking something heavy, but then this drama didn’t make me look stupid at all, I could follow its bit. Being captivated by the production, by the actors. Isn’t Park Jung-hwan the real winner here? He even took down both the public prosecutor general and minister of defense, moreover with that stupid tumor in his brain! Sorry, I’m getting too emotional every time remember this..

  11. Vote for Ji sung, Joo won and Park hae jin. What a rediculous awards, UEE and IU are there while Soo ae and Kim hee ae are out.LOL

  12. Btw, YES for IRY, Misaeng and KMHM (Ji Sung is everything). And a small nod for Heard it Through the Grapevine. A bit of a bummer that i don’t see PBG name.

  13. How the heck did Maids get a nomination for best screenplay??? As one of the few who watched it, I can say the writing was really terrible and definitely the weakest point of the show. Like, not just your standard mediocre drama writing, but genuinely bad.

I support the nominations for Yongpal, even Kim Tae-hee’s, but am still voting for Ji Sung to win the Daesang. Kind of sad there aren’t any actress nominess for the Daesang though.

    • I disagree, @Gwinna. I watched the show week after week and I really think that the writer had material for a 50-episode project. Each character could have very well been a drama or a film on their own, nobles or/and servants. It’s true, however, that it got a bit speady towards the last episodes because they could not afford an extension due to the accident in December. If your objection is the dialogues or the minimum romance in Maids, that’s another story.

      • My objection lies in the fact that there were more plotholes than there was plot. Adding more episodes might have improved the ending, but it wouldn’t have solved the underlying issues imo.

    • Glad someone finally questioned “Maids” nomination. That drama is hella boring and dialogues in that historical setting are WIERD. I quit watching after a few episodes anyway. So I’m actually not in the place to judge. Just to state my personal taste.

  14. I would love for JiSung to win the Daesang and Misaeng to win best drama. I’m surprise Lee Sung min (Manager Oh)was not nominated. Also I think Punch should have been nominated or at least Kim Rae Won should have been nominated.
I agree with Koala, yongpal should not be included. They should include only completed dramas in order to be fair in judgement in the quality of the whole drama rather than parts of it. Yongpal should be included in next years possible nomination.

  15. Yoo Na’s Street is amazing. I still think about it. I’m soooo glad it got a nod. I still need to watch Heard it Through the Grapevine.

  16. korean drama mostly about popularity n star power, my prediction is kim so hyun n park yoo chun win because they have many fans, this is not award that i will take seriously. it’s so ridicilous how joo jin mo wonderfull performance in beloved eundong unnoticed in this award show, i think joo won is the best from male lead category, i don’ t think kim ta hae belong in the list too

  17. The nominations are meh. How come UEE, Kim Tae Hee and IU are there but no Park Bo Young. Most of the actors and drama productions that got nominations come from strong agency. I still don’t get the hype over Yoo Chun’s acting. sorry. And Kim So Hyun for daesang? Are they kidding? The character that he played didn’t show any challenging one. Again, popularity and big agency is needed.

  18. well here are my votes. before that, i doo agree that some of the nominations make sense and some are not..but well it’s their choice anyway..

Daesang – ji sung of course for doing one man show in KMHM. he so deserved that. he was the heart and soul of the drama.
didn’t watch hwajung but i won’t care if CSW will win cause he is one of the best and i’m sure he did his part well.
KSH? i like the guy and liked his role in producer (tho i dropped the drama) but it’s not a role that is a daesang worthy. same with JW but i do admit hr slay his role in yongpal and i love him so much as actor and as person. didn’t watch WWTF.

best drama – since i only watched KMHM and mostly episodes of producer and 9 ep of yongpal i vote for KMHM. it was compelling and the plot was solid.

best screenplay – i vote for IRY if not for all the twists and the suprisingly good plot. too bad it is sooo underated but at least it got some nominations.yongpal is still broadcasting and as for maids, it’s one of my favourite this year but the plot started to drag in the last episodes although the first 10 episodes or so were very good.

i have no say about directing but i go for KMHM since i watch only that and maids and didn’t finish producer.

Top Male Excellence- park hae jin by far. he just killed with his role as psycho in bad guys and i’m so happy he got nomination. if he’ll won’t win (but i’m still crossing fingers)i vote for LJS who was awesome. yoochun was good in smelly girl but i don’t think to the extent of a prize like that.

Top Female Excellence: hmm where the hell is park bo young? or soo ae for great role in mask? i guess i’ll vote for HJW for another great role she portrayed. PSH improved much so i won’t be mad if she’ll get it either. no word on KTH as everybody already mentioned why it’s weird she is mentioned. i liked JNR in IRY but she was overshadowed by the bromance..

Male Excellence: JJS all the way. i just loooved him in OMG. SIG acted well but i didn’t got wowed by him.

Female Excellence: ok seriously some of them were really wtf..uee? she was very bland in HS.if they nominated her thay sould do it for Hogoo’s love. IU? can’t say she was bad but i’ve seen better than her. kim sarang was very nice in MLED (btw where is JJM??) but most of the drama she was melancholic and lost..lastly sooyoung tho i dropped her drama (too sad for me) but she acted very good so i vote for her..

  19. Daesang should go to ji sung. if the award really mean who better at acting. as we all see in the pass the award dont mean u the best. if suzy/ji se yeon can win award for best actress.when in reality they both sux at acting. while actress like gong hyo jin is left witout award.

  20. FYI, Hwajung isnt finished too! That drama still have four more episode. Same with Yongpall, it still have four episode. So we have no reason to againts it.

    • As of 9 Sept when the nominations were announced, Hwajung has already aired 44 episodes out of 50 (88%), whereas YP has only aired 10 out of 16 or 20 (62% or 50%). So in terms of level of completion, HJ can be considered to be a lot more “finished” than YP.

      • @febe, thanks for replying. But actually I reply for @lol post (I dont know why it not work). She say YP still airing. So I reply that Hwajung still airing too. And both of that drama will finished two weeks from now. It think it always happens in every awards (in korea) we always dissapointed with the nomination or why our fave drama wasnt on the list. Why Assembly not on the list when that drama have good screenplay (but I knew it wasnt interesting for some viewers). And why why why? *it never ends

      • @Thea, yes both are still airing, but it’s still kinda weird for a drama (YP) to be nominated for best drama & best screenplay when it has only aired halfway. On the other hand, Hwajung is not nominated under the best drama or best screenplay categories but for Cha Seung Won’s performance (Daesang) and he has already completed his performance in the drama as he appeared in Episodes 1 to 30. So, his performance is complete and can be properly judged. In fact, YP is the only drama nominated for best drama/screenplay which is not “finished”.

  21. If ji sung don’t get daesang for this kda award, i will wait for baeksang award for him. That is the most prestige award that will value actor’s real quality. I have a strong feeling joo won will win daesang in this award..

  22. if joo won win the award for daesang then u know it rid. how can a guy even win the best award when his drama still airing. beside his acting in young pal cant top ji sung acting in KMHM.

  23. Hmmm,

Kim Soo Hyun won’t win.Producers is quite a stepback from his previous projects. He may not bother either. He won this last year ?
Joo Won (Yongpal): probably. The so-called King of rating should win daesang once, right? Not his fan, coz the tragic acting looks on his face in any dramas of his keep giving me cringes.
Ji Sung (Kill Me Heal Me): that rating may not help. Also, his acting hasn’t been really big so far.

Not much interested in other category except Kim tae hee and lee jong suk nominations gave me a “huhhhhhh ?”on my face.

To ji chang wook fans: you don’t need to be another delulu fandom in this blog. Your bias and his healer just got some hype in dramabeans, some more fans for him in soompi, IG, weibo or wheresoever, but not yet to gain him more real fame definitely. Look at what has been happening to him since healer ended: he just got magazine photoshoots (though heaps), a couple of fashion event invitation overseas, and just a couple of three CF deals of non-korean products for China market. What made you think he is becoming a big name out there? Wake up !

    • IMO It’s truly unfair to bring kim tae hi and ljs in one category, I remember koala had a post about his grimmae award which is not about popularity at all but acting skills as U know about this prestigious award!

      • Rocky road
That’s pretty mean to say something like that about an actor.
Ji chang wook has done nothing bad to you.
Whether he succeeds in his career or whatever his fans raved about him, that doesn’t mean you ought to say such awful things about his career.

    • LOL…you sound extremely bitter when mentioning Ji Chang Wook…hahahaha why the heck to even mention his name here? He or his drama is not even nominated neither mentioned in Koala’s post. Don’t try to hide your jealous and bitterness by putting down the actor. So obvious! LOL

      • Yes drama2015 *clap*

People have difference preferences so it’s ok to express disappointment when their fav actor/actress didn’t get nominated. But I dunno why koala and some others here keep trashing other actors.

Yes koala has a right to say anything she wants, but I hope the others remember that these actors sbd crews are human too. Please don’t treat them like a trash or garbage. Their acting or production may not be daesang material to some viewers but they don’t deserve to be treated with disdain and hatred. Yes they get paid well but that doesn’t mean people are entitled to throw insults or hurtful remarks about them on a public site.

  24. @febe, thanks for replying.

  25. As much as I love Joo Won in Yongpal, Ji Sung has to win the Daesang. He did a remarkable job in KMHM and it sucks that he barely gets any recognition for it. I get that awards aren’t always important, but Ji Sung’s stellar job in that drama, his complexity as a character deserves to win. I hoping he does, because if he doesn’t then they’re robbing him. I have a feeling popular fave Kim Soo Hyun might win. But I’ll have to say, his performance in “Producer” wasn’t that great.
And again, I am constantly disappointed that Gong Hyo Jin is almost always never nominated. I’m surprise IU is getting a nomination when she did “alright” on the show. Her acting is not worthy of Female Excellence. In fact, the nomination list for Female Excellence is lacking.

  26. Joo Won can act, and I am now a fan of this actor. But why is he nominated for Daesang when Yong Pal hasn’t even finished airing? Put him in next year’s nominatios!

  27. Joo Won will win. I have a really strong feeling about that. Have observed other actors’ acting. I’m sorry, but Joo Won is the most versatile actor of his generation. It’s not whether the drama is still being aired or not, it’s about the actor’s acting skills. Every actor has worked hard, each and every one of them did a great job. But Joo Won has nailed every role he undertook. Not many Korean actors his age could do that. HE’S THE FACE OF VERSATILITY. Not to mention that nothing can be compared to Joo Won’s acting in Yong Pal.
He will win. Pray pray and pray. Joo Won will win =) Fighting, Gaksitaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal

    • Joo Won failed to deliver emotions. Sorry to say but everytime he cries, it turns to scary for me. He always too overacted. Not to mention he doesn’t match the silly/ funny roles. He’s far from versatile. In his generation, Yoo Ah In still the best.

      • It’s your personal preference. I like both actors. I’d never been a fan of Joo Won or watched any of his dramas before. But I think Joo Won nailed the character in Yongpal. Although I’m a huge fan of Yoo Ah In (that means I’d definitely watch his dramas), I don’t think he’s much better than JW at a different level. To the opposite of your opinion, I think YAI overacted sometimes and he admitted in an interview.

    • Maybe not in the same generation, but in the same category, Ji Sung wins any day. He completely carried KMHM. Want to see versatility? Watch Ji Sung play seven characters in one drama. Literally the face of versatility, from Shin Se Gi to Ahn Yo Na.

  28. lol funny to see UEE/IU nominee yet park bo young is left out in the cold. her acting is way better then these two.

like always ji sung going to get the short end of the stick in award show.

  29. No Junki or Park Bo Young? They sure do not like vampire or ghost stories 😛 , but still just to see YongPal there, reminds me to hate award shows more and more. It is all about the money, KTH??? Are they even trying to be serious??

    I hope Ji Sung wins.

  30. I’m rooting hard for Jisung. Too bad KMHM seem to lose the hype already due to early broadcast. 🙁

Missing out on PBY is criminal.

What the hell is Yoochun doing up there? His performance in Girls… is passable at best. I don’t even know why IU and Kim Tae Hee are even considered let alone being nominated.

    • Yoochun is up there cuz of his crazy fangirl voting
IU is up there cuz of her crazy uncle fan voting
as for KTH she up there for her sleeping role in yong pal i guess.

      • fangirl voting? what are you talking about? this is not about voting come on, get ur fact 1st by calling his fans crazy. I thought some drama fans are actually overreacting everytime his name got nominated. they are whining, judging like a pro but what funny is NO ONE here questioning where is KIM MOO YEOL or LEE BEOM SOO.

  31. Let’s hope that the awards will be given based on quality rather than ratings or popularity, and some of the nominations which seem to be based on the latter are just to add hype or interest to the award show.

    My guesses are:
Daesang: Yoo Dong Geun, Ji Sung or Cha Seung Won. It’s too hard to choose between Papa, Yuna or Gwanghae, LOL.

Best Drama: Misaeng. I love Heard it Through the Grapevine too, but Misaeng resonated with me more.

Best Screenplay: Misaeng or I Remember You. Both were awesome.

Top Male Excellence: Im Shi Wan. Si Wan’s performance as Jang Geu-rae, a truly unforgettable character, spoke to the “intern/new employee” memories in us and won our hearts.

Top Female Excellence: Kim Hee Sun (Angry Mom).

  32. My predictions:
    Daesang: Ji Sung
Best Drama: Misaeng/Heard It Through The Grapevine (I haven’t seen either)
    Best Screenplay: Anything not Yongpal
    Best Director: Misaeng
Top Male Excellence: Lee Jung Seok/Im Shi Wan
Top Female Excellence: PARK BO YOUNG (but no really, from this list, Kim Hee Sun)
Male Excellence: Kim Dae Myung (JJS was cute but he has a seemingly limited range of facial expressions)
Female Excellence: again, PARK BO YOUNG (but nah no one here stood out to me)

  33. I hope Ji Sung can win an award at least for his role in KMHM, because I thoroughly enjoyed his performance as a person with 7 personalities. He is good, at least for me.

And for Joo Won to be in the nomination is not exactly that unjustifiable, as maybe (since I don’t watch Yong Pal) he did nailed his character in Yong Pal.

But for Yong Pal to be nominated as best drama is a little far fetched. It’s not fair to other nomination as well as Yong Pal itself since it’s still airing. When it’s still airing, meaning to say the overall quality is not accessible.

So if let’s say Yong Pal won, it’s not fair because how do they know by the time it is completed, the overall quality is actually better than other nominations? Maybe it’s not, maybe it is.

And if let’s say Yong Pal lost, it’s not fair either because how do they know by the time it is completed, the overall quality is worse than other nominations? Maybe it is, maybe it’s not.

So the point here is, they shouldn’t pit Yong Pal against other completed drama because they will not be competing each other on equal ground.

  34. @Shue Rei and Drama2015: Lol, come on. Me, awful commenter? bitterness freak? WTF! I was talking to JCW fans here, by just LITERALLY listing what have been happening to him based my own observation of facts, to open their eyes. Tell me whether there is anything wrong with my information. What part in my comment meant awful about his career? Which part means insulting to him?

This is not the first time JCW’s fans show their stupid arrogance in this blog or in this topic. They have started fanwar with fans of Pinochio, Heirs, and even made silly comparison between healer and youngpal when youngpal wasn’t even broadcasted yet, as if healer was something really big for copycat. You and his fans should learn how to lay back, observing and analysing in order to know where your bias is standing in the showbiz, in and out of South Korea, instead of making yourselves idiots who are always ridiculously extreme with deluluness. Obviously there are some positive things happening to him and his popularity status, but definitely not big enough to boast about.

If such a comment of mine is considered mean, you will be blown away when I come to be really mean.
