C-netizens Buzzing Over Screencaps Spoilers Taken Reportedly From the Final Episode of Descendants of the Sun

No matter how Descendants of the Sun ends this coming week, I hope drama fans who have been watching along with me, and hopefully all enjoying it for whatever reasons, continue to have the faith to see it through the end. I’ve been posted the written ending spoilers for a few weeks now, the first coming out of China from a netizen who saw the Chinese version, and last week a more detailed ending spoiler from Korea from a netizen with connections to the production. So far the two reported spoilers align, though the Korean one is much more in depth. Today there is the first reported visual sighting – Chinese netizens are abuzz with two screencaps taken with the iQiyi logo on the top left, the streaming site in China that is live airing DotS. If these are real pictures from the ending episode then basically it’s so spoilery I cannot even write a word about it until after the jump.

Sooooooo…..does anyone need a translation? The tomb says Yoo Shi Jin 1983-2016. The bottom is of course a picture of the beautiful but clearly sorrowful Mo Yeon in all black. I don’t know – these pictures could be photoshopped, or maybe it’s a feint and Shi Jin “dies” so that he can leave the military life and retire to Urk with Mo Yeon to be like Daniel and Ye Hwa. I’m basically prepared for the worst but still hoping for the best.

C-netizens Buzzing Over Screencaps Spoilers Taken Reportedly From the Final Episode of Descendants of the Sun — 66 Comments

  1. I’m guessing that they thought he died, but he actually didn’t. And they meet up again in Urk, and live happily ever after.

  2. Firstly, the streaks across Shi Jin’s face..they are exactly the same as the ones in episode one. It seems impossible that it can happen that way. Of course they could have filmed the first and last episode sequentially, on the same day, but really that is most unlikely given the time it takes to film those action shots in episode 1. ( I am quite sure if somebody bothers to go through episode one with a fine comb , they will find Shi Jin in the exact position as shown in the ‘revealed’ shot)

Secondly, given that those people who are given the spoilers and those posted the spoilers are obviously not people with integrity since these are obviously not their properties to do as they please, and the reason for their posting them really dubious, I think nobody should give them that much of credibility and attention least it makes them feel proud and righteous of what they have done.

Thirdly, China is a densely populated country and if they have no secrets, the media would be spilling over with the news by now. Of the billions of people interested in the drama, only one or two of them have privy to the information? Wah..CIA should employ them.

Fourthly, one person’s opinion of the ending, does not lend it credibility. Opinions are often not facts. I have an opinion on the design of Seoul’s airport but I am not qualified. My opinion in that area does not deserve an intelligent answer. Anyway, I did read that the producer himself said that even his wife does not know the ending. So why should we try to get ahead of the game and spoil our own fun and entertainment, and allow those people who try to spoil it for us, enjoy watching us lose our fun. We should totally ignore them.

  3. he fakes the death because he is wanted as a fugitive but actually still alive. One day she receives a postcard with a white stone as a clue for them to meet. She realises Shi Jin is still alive and decides to go back to island where they truly meet and they will live happily ever after… pretty generic plot actually 😀
I don’t think she will get pregnant though.

  4. I saw somewhere in Instagram a couple of weeks back that somewhat said that pic of SHK was actually from a movie (??). And that tombstone looked pretty much photoshopped to me.
Here’s hoping the finale week won’t be a disappointing one. Despite some major flaws, this drama is still an entertaining one to watch.

  5. Whether he dies for real or not. I know the drama is going to end with both of them finally sitting down to go see that movie together from the beginning to the end with no one leaving to rescue anyone or shoot someone. Hehehe

    • Good theory.
      Hopefully it ends that way.
I think the pace was light hearted and melo-comedic throughout the drama so I doubt they will kill off the most beloved character this way.
I don’t think they wanna give such a gloomy ending to a patriotic role like this – since the role was supposed to inspire people to stay or join the army, I doubt they will take such a drastic move.
All the best Yoo Shi Jin, prove them wrong and stay alive!

      • Hahaha…Thailand Prime Minister has been trying to take advantage of DotS to promote the military image of his country. He would feel embarrassed if the hero he tries to relate to dies at the end.

      • Hahahaha
Ya I don’t think shijin will die too but if so, everyone will start a war with the production team and the writer.

  6. So all Manager Jin (the Korean national enemy who swallowing diamond) said in his interview with Entertainment Weekly are just b*llshit???!!!! He said the remaining episodes were gonna lovey dovey…OK now Manager Jin joins Jin Goo on my blacklist of eating their own words.

    • The pictures could be real but it might be a dream sequence.
Maybe mo Yeon might be dreaming the worst while she fell asleep while waiting for him to recuperate.
Or shi Jin could be fighting his own unconscious battle while struggling from the wounds – imagining a “widow” mo Yeon might give him another impetus to overcome his coma.
Anyway on tombstones they are supposed to put the full/real date instead of just the year.

    • If the spoiler is for real, how is that gonna be satisfying or lovey dovey? It’s doubtful two actors of the cast were just tongue in cheek to troll fans.

  7. Thank goodness my very basic knowledge of Korean extends to at least knowing the Korean alphabet, Ryu Si Jin,…wth?! Whoever photoshopped this should be banned from the internet forever. Lmao

  8. Uhm… I’m a fan of you koala, but didn’t you just drop the ball here? The tomb stone doesn’t say yoo shi jin. I’m not korean but I know some alphabet. I kinda assumed you were korean or knew Korean, if that’s not the case sorry.

  9. As others have commented, it’s Ryu Shi Jin, so either it’s photoshopped and the Song Hye Kyo pic is from a movie/different drama, or she’s standing in front of some other dude’s grave. Either way, it’s not Yoo Shi Jin.

  10. The photo of SHK is actually from her movie “Today”. She was in grief when her fiancé played by Ki Taeyong died..

Knowing KES’s drama, this will have a happy ending too. though there’s some twist but for sure a happy ending one.

  11. The last pic is of SHK in a movie of hers and that tombstone is horrendously fake
People need to get better photoshop skills and quit obsessing over the ending. Just watch it!

  12. I’ve seen many agents or special force in movie died so they can live normally, they died legally but alive and still lived,

  13. first pic is from episode 1…2nd pic photoshopped?…3rd pic, from Song hye Kyo’s movie “Today” (if you google images of SHK’S movie “Today” it’s there)…

    • LOL, I’m just sharing spoilers being passed around and am so happy this particular one isn’t true. My Shi Jin can’t die!!! T____T He has to be flirty forever with Mo Yeon while shooting up bad guys in his spare time.

    • These are fake weibo spoilers. SJ gets blown up saving MY from Argus’ gang, and then goes missing. Obviously this did not happen lol

  14. Er peeps won’t a soldier get into like a different sort of cemetary? Also the grave pavers are too old and surrounded by a fence. Not a Korean style grave.

Why do people want to do that? And for crying out loud Koreans have their Hanja names on their graves as well. This person didn’t research enough before posting it. Mooyeon will have to be 20 yrs older to visit a grave that old.

    • Hey are you a doctor if I recall correctly? May I ask a medical question? How realistically possible that Si Jin would wake up from cardiac arrest and then was like dead-man-walking soon afterwards to be as badass as usual? Did you watch ep 14? That was in ep 14. Most of the comments I read from all the forums I visited ridicule that storyline. But I also read somewhere from an ER Dr.’s first-hand experience that one of his patients sat up almost immediately all normal-looking after being rescued from cardiac arrest.

It was clear that MY didn’t give her medical team orders to perform operations on SJ after he got shot twice. She only ordered to take whole-body X-ray of SJ. I researched a bit about bulletproof vests. According to several pro forums, a bulletproof vest’s protection capacity all depends on the power and speed of bullets. A bulletproof vest may stop bullets from penetrating the body of the person wearing the vest but one can still get injured due to the impacts of bullets hitting on the vest. Most likely, SJ wore a bulletproof vest since it’s supposed to be in the protocol for a bodyguard. Therefore, I don’t think any bullets penetrated his body but he still had a lot of bleeding because bruises and injuries caused by the impacts of the bullets. As to the dead-man-walking part after cardiac arrest onset, I need to hear opinions from a pro in medical practice.

I’ve already watched a lot of training documentaries of US special forces such as 18-Delta and 18-X. These documentaries indicate that special forces members are elites among military elites, not only physically adept but also very smart and usually master multiple foreign languages. They are particularly trained to endure excruciating pains in order to survive in very hostile and dangerous foreign lands. I thought the narratives of DotS about Captain Yoo’s Alpha team were exaggerating for dramatic purposes, like they’re super human beings. But now it’s all plausible based on US documentaries I watched.

      • Lol. Crikey.

Short answers. Only arrests that sat up was post VF arrests. And GSW arrests would be due to hypovolaemic shock. Circulatory shock. No trauma patients who arrested- that I’ve seen have sat up. And be completely lucid and able to function like YSJ does.

Forget about bulletproof vests and what not. You need to read about bullet trajectory. And that was automatic weapons fired. If the bullet hit the vest you don’t get bleeding. Your questions were not simple and I can’t answer it. I have seen gunshot wounds but I also had lectures from army doctors regarding military weapons and wounds. The most impressive were from the Israelis. They have unfortunately too much experience.

Ignore DotS medical practice. Nobody orders whole body xrays when trauma patients gets CTs anyway. And bullet pathways through the body is not visible through CTs. Bullet wounds are a whole different type of trauma and effects.

Er continue watching military documentaries if you want. But every country has their special forces. I have watched a few, read some books. Met colleagues who were in the Special Forces. There is something called psychological warfare and unfortunately also am too familiar with soldiers who had mental breakdowns from the training in those units. Don’t use American shows as the standard. There are some pretty tough units from other countries you know.

      • You do realize that the time lapse till ambulance arrival is not included. And I didn’t notice traffic giving way to ambulances when I was in Seoul.

Not to mention there was bl**dy no first aid during transport anyway. Clothes were on, no direct pressure on wounds. No monitoring. So I didn’t expect any accuracy in this drama anyway. ?

      • Aw thanks. Then DotS should be considered in Fantasy genre categorized in the same league as Captain America. LOL.

BTW, have you watched other K medical dramas? If you have, any one you consider is close to real? I know it won’t be Dr. Stranger. LOL

      • Last answer. I managed quite a few medical Kdramas on viki as an editor or channel manager. Go for the storyline. Unless you actually know the conditions mentioned no point stressing over accuracy. Have a good day.

I don’t actually watch that many Kdramas at a time. Busy learning Korean instead.

  15. Ok – so my feeling based on KES is happy ending. She likes it rosy like that and fan friendly from the bunch of recent ones I have seen in the last 10 years or so. So I am thinking it’s doubtful that he will die. I am not worried. I would be very surprised if she wrote that kind of sad ending. I don’t really think so. But real life isn’t rosy in war zones. But this is drama land… Rosy endings are a must!

  16. I wanna hit myself on the head for clicking in to read the spoilers. I want a happy ending for Shi Jin n moyeon and can only cling onto slim hope. But I just wanna declare my extreme dislikes to the Korean or Chinese Netizen for declaring the ending on www for their minutes of fame. Shame on you especially if they posted fake spoilers complete with doctored images.

  17. Oh! My! so many people trying to guess what will be the ending, can’t wait for Thursday, mean while there is a photo of our leads back in Urk sitting on the shipwreck dressed in causal clothes, based on some comments, there might be a time jump and our leads will meet again back in Urk after a separation. Who knows what the ending will be I hope is a good one.
For does who want to see photo is instagram with comments about this time jump and hancinema website has an article about the same rumor mentioned aboved but it also include this photo.

  18. I really hope this show gets better for me since I enjoyed both leads other dramas…. I can’t get passed the first episode ….it’s putting me to sleep! The lines are cheesier like The Heirs, but there, they were at least funny and delivered tongue in cheek. Compared to another show in the same time slot, Come back Adjusshi, the storyline had me hooked from the first! Just like Signal, that show I had to marathon watch till the last episode to see what is the end game. Posting this comment without reading previous ones, maybe someone can convince me , it gets better?
