Sneak Peek at Kiss Scene Between Lee Jun Ki and IU in K-version of Bu Bu Jing Xin Dials Up Anticipation

It’s about a month and a half out from the premiere of K-version of Bu Bu Jing Xin on SBS, not very long considering how long this drama has been on my radar since 2015 when news broke that Korean was legit going to make their own version of BBJX. When the original was airing I was waxing rhapsodic about which Korean actors and actresses would be best to play the various roles, but that was five years ago and so much has changed since.

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo is going its own route by creating a eyeliner warrior 4th Prince in Lee Jun Ki, and the pairing him him with younger Kang Ha Neul as his rival the scholar 8th Prince. The most consistent element is casting young idol-actress IU as the time-traveling female lead, she has stylistic elements that remind me a lot of Liu Shi Shi as the C-version female lead. While I LOVED the chemistry and romance between Shi Shi and Nicky Wu in the C-drama, the picture below of the kiss scene between the K-version leads totally has me swooning already at the heady feel.

Sneak Peek at Kiss Scene Between Lee Jun Ki and IU in K-version of Bu Bu Jing Xin Dials Up Anticipation — 44 Comments

  1. I’m trying to keep my expectations at a low. I mean, it’s going to be so hard for me to love this as much as I love the original. But I am still excited for this, it looks so good.

(I still can’t rewatch BBJX, I get too emotional. I mean, I cry watching the intro theme song)

    • Yes I agree. Keep expectations reasonable and hope they mix up the story a bit. I actually thought the lead gal had great chemistry with 8th prince as well.

  2. Both IU and LJK are good kissers. Should not have concern about their kissing scenes, unlike certain actresses/actors who seemed to always have trouble delivering kissing scenes. Most of time I felt awkward watching the kissing scenes of those cast. LOL….

Plot set aside, I have confidence in these OTP of K version. They both were able to let go of their real selves and immerse in the roles of their dramas in the past. That’s called professional. Even IU is an idol-turned actress, I do think she’s got more talents than certain full-time actresses whose acting is forceful and lacks layered dynamics.

I do hope the K version deviates much from the original. The original has a great cast. But I wasn’t so much for the storyline. Memorable Chinese dramas tend to have tragic ending that also echoes in the classic Chinese literature. Tragic ending is not down my alley when I watch Asian dramas. So I hope the K version won’t repeat the same plot points.

    • Agree with everything you said ,LJK is one of the best kisser ,along with Jung ill woo ,I appreciate a good kiss scene, not one were the lady looks like the guys breath stink or something

      • @Skin, I almost got choked by food bcos of laughing. Your last sentence though. LOL

      • @ skin, ha ha.. funny but yeah.. I hope the leading lady respond to LJK kissing scene. If you look at the other dramas he had, he is a good kisser but the leading lady just so passive! at least kiss back , no need to do any tongue sword movement you know… but at least, open those damn mouth a little bit and enjoy LJG’s lips.. dayuuum, I will gobble up those lips! and they get paid too!!!!

    • “unlike certain actresses/actors who seemed to always have trouble delivering kissing scenes. Most of time I felt awkward watching the kissing scenes of those cast. LOL….”
      Do you mean PSH?

      • Why need to bring PSH when she has nothing to do with this drama? But she was my first choice for ML-SH beside KYJ. PSH is not really a terrible kisser, it is just a matter of how comfortable she is with her leading man. Her kiss in Pinnochio improved a lot. Maybe she just have some kind of reservation when performing kiss scene. I am still sold as I like that her kisses appear to be innocent befitting her drama plots in most cases.

      • Based on your id name, surely you are PSH haters.
Every times we read the same antics from your post.
Dont say PSH fans will bash you, it was you who start it first.
Just get a life, you not live in KDramaland.

And… what you do may jinx your bias. Amen.

    • Some of korean actors actually has good kissing skill such as Gong Yoo, So Ji Sub, lee Jin Wook, Jo In Sung, Sung Joon and the real kiss master Eric Mun. But they have very limited actress that can deliver kissing scenes very well. I think Yoon Eun Hye and Jung Yumi are the only who can kiss back no matter who’s their co-stars. Or maybe we can include Seo Hyun jin, but well the girl can kiss back perhaps her partner was as hot as Eric XD.

      • I miss Yoon eun hye and his chemistry with his co-stars . I like Jung yumi too… have to wait if seo hyun jin can do the same thing with another partner but she’s a good actress, better than some A- list actresses

      • I totally agree with you!!! my response to another blogger

    • @drama2016 I agree with you.. I not only felt awkward but almost want to pry the leading ladies lips to at least.. respond back with a kiss. Like I have mentioned earlier on the other bloggers.. no need to do any tongue sword action.. just enjoy LJG lips and kiss back.. i’ll trade place with them.. ha ha.. and they get PAID TOO!!! I hope these leading ladies read our blogs and get some tips on how we want them to respond when doing k-drama.

  3. I think the last drama that I’ve watched with LJK in it was “Two Weeks” which was really good and a little underrated by korean. His last two projects were two flopped saeguk so I didn’t want him in another saeguk, but by each promotion I like this one more & more, hope it turns out good & his next project won’t be another saeguk.

    • Scholar is a flop but not Joseon Gunman which stayed at the top and ahead of other competing dramas during that airing period and netted LJK various awards. But agree that it is high time that after this, he should be doing modern drama, whatever the genre would be.

      • I thought Scholar Who Walks The Night has good ratings? Oh well, I like any LJG movie. Yu Bi SUUUUUUCKS! IN KISSING DEPARTMENT THOUGH. she’s like a stiff log while being kissed.. Dayuuuum.. I will definitely GOBBLE UP dem lips and to think she is getting paid too !!! aaaaah… we are just hopeless , wistful thinking fans of LJG

    • Honey, these days she doesn’t have that many uncle fans(I’m not even sure if they still exist) and that’s a blessing to be honest. Also have you not seen her other kissing scenes from YATBLSS?

  4. Except for Time Between Dog and Wolf, I dont think LJK appeals to me as a good kisser. But I have no issue with that as saeguk always and should appear to have a more “chaste” kind of kiss. Highly anticipating this drama and hoping it deviates so much from the C-version while maintaining the core elements of the novel, so that we as audience will have a totally refreshing viewing experience. So far everything look good and promising. But I am a bit dissapointed that SBS has yet to do much promotions, no trailer, no teaser and nothing yet from the broadcasting station.

      • He sure can kiss but not really an excellent kisser or may be that he can kiss better if Nam Sang Mi is the partner. Those two look very comfortable with each other. But I like him that way. I don’t think my heart can accept seeing my precious LJK going for an open mouth deep kiss (as how Kang Ji Hwan was with YEH in Lie To Me). So long as not wooden kiss, will do for me.

    • hmmm.. he can kiss good but the actress are all too passive.. they need to at least respond with a kiss.. no need to do any sword tongue action but duuuuuh!!! at least kiss back. Lee Min Ho sure can pry ‘dem lips and the actress don’t have choice sometimes but to respond back but even so.. they are all too passive and not believable.. I mean in a sense that .. if the character shows they are in love.. then, the kissing scene should at least reflect the story line….. Just me.. I get excited with kissing scenes but gets turn off with “no response lip action ” from leading ladies..

    • @ Del.. hmmmm. I think Time Between Dog and Wolf got a good kiss review back because the leading lady respond back with his kisses. Iljimae kiss is the WOOOOORSE!!! It’s like kissing a log! Bong Soon kisses are funny and to die for. THAT is what we need when leading ladies kiss their leading man. It must show some believeability..

  5. I thought that “almost kiss” photo was a personal photo taken by someone on set and not supposed to be repost? But am glad that you share it with us. The almost kiss scene looks pretty intense. Hope IU will have great chemistry with LJK and ya, by all means, bring on the intensity. I am also pleased that LJK’s 4th Prince is a warrior instead of a scholar, cause one scholar is KHN is enough and nothing feels better than actually romancing a dangerous bad boy in reel-screen. Fingers cross that this drama will be really good and hope to see more stills, and official teasers and trailer coming up real soon. I am so looking forward to August 29.

      • thank you! Spot on, way too cheesy for my liking! it can be endured if you only like cheesy stuff

    • I don’t understand haters. We need diversity in acting so please stop comparing actresses . one only needs to compete with himself to improve … rivality is a waste of energy . Just my opinion…

  6. For juicy kiss I think Eric Mun and Yoon Eun Hye is a good combo. Both always kiss their partner like no tomorrow. HOT!

      • Yoon Eun Hye has been active doing variety in China. Unfortunately there was some deal with a designer who thought she stole his ideas on the design competition show and it caused some trouble. I am hoping to see her in a drama soon.

      • Last year she completed another short movie who was selected at piff but due to the contreversy of plagiarism she did not attend . She updated his weibo a few days ago… but i don’t see nothing coming… when veteran actresses are making comebacks in dramaland ! A tv cable drama would be good for her…it was good for Choi ji Woo, Eric Mun, and th list goes on.

  7. wow. I thought this drama was not ever going to premiere. so excited can’t wait to see iu and ji soo on my screen.

  8. I was tempted to watch the original after learning that this would be a remake. but I managed to stay away so I can enjoy Lee jun ki’s dram moon lovers without any perceptions.

  9. I like IU too. She is a tuff little cutie who through hard work, and tons of talent, has an ascending, soaring career. I wish her the best of luck.

  10. Harasoooooo! I am looking forward and hope IU will kiss back on their kissing scenes. Don’t we all want to see some chemistry in that department? LJG, he can kiss and can deliver. His kisses are not vulgar. Mostly tender and you can really feel his love for his leading lady when he kisses them in his k-drama.
