The Dinner of Immortals Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wook Sets the Stage in Latest Goblin Drama Stills

I would love to be a fly on the wall during the upcoming dinner between an immortal goblin and a grim reaper, and luckily I just have to be a viewer and tune into this Friday’s premiere of highly anticipated tvN fantasy drama Goblin. I think all the promos and previews are done and all that is left is the final two days countdown before seeing what screenwriter Kim Eun Sook has in store for her followup drama after this year’s runaway hit Descendants of the Sun. Since it’s airing on cable no one is expecting it to have the same ratings of DotS to be considered a success. If it hits 5% then that’s a great start and would need to do the gangbusters on cable ratings of Misaeng and Answer Me 1988 to prove Kim Eun Sook’s magic touch extends to cable. The final batch of drama stills show the aforementioned dinner of immortal beings, and the other set is chipper high school student Kim Go Eun‘s character chatting up Gong Yoo‘s goblin in the park.

  1. In my book this writer is blacklisted which is why I’ve always stayed away from her dramas. But going to tune in for this drama because the leads are just..I can feel the chemistry from the stills already. Yes I’m already in love with the lead OTP and hope against hope this one isn’t corny and cringy like her other works. #unconventionallygoodlookinggorgeouswithgreattalentsORIGINALftw

    • Are you me??! We have the same opinion. I never interested in kim eun sook drama because her style is just too cringey for me. But this drama makes me feel excited from the first trailer. Gonna check this one.

  2. i love lee dong wook and i love secret garden. but i only saw gong yoo in coffee prince. maybe i am the minority who really hate that drama.. sorry not sorry..haha. i saw gong yoo in running man and liking his personality and he quite strong too..

    • Huge LDW fan, also loved SeGa. Hi-5! I think his character and the storyline as a whole looks really promising and I’ll be tuning in for sure. Hope you will do too!

  3. From the teaser, I am drawn in by the sageuk backstory but I know this is no sageuk drama. I am just afraid that I will be experiencing the LOTBS viewing experience again with this one – loving the sageuk story but not the modern central plot.

  4. LDW is one of the two actors/actresses I have seen in person. So definitely gonna check this out. Didn’t like Hotel King or Bubblegum, so I am cautiously curious.

GY is sorely missed in dramaland and that Big fiasco didn’t help either. I didn’t enjoy Coffee Prince all that much.

  5. Same here. And the first episode was good enough to keep me watching, the only parts that were offputting were Kim Go-Eun’s over-doing the aegyo and childishness and the creepy built-up of romantic tension (complete with ballad soundtrack) between a high-schooler and a man in his mid-thirties.

    • The gorgeous cinematography, humour, world-building etc. helped me get over my dislike for this writer’s dramas. Hope it stays that way.

  6. Same here, never been interested in any of this writer’s dramas.
