First Poster for C-drama Adaptation of Once Promised with Huang Xiaoming and Victoria Song

First impressions mean a lot and I loved the concept poster for the long awaited C-drama adaptation of fantasy period romance novel Once Promised (Ceng Shu Nuo) by writer Tong Hua most famous for having penned Bu Bu Jing Xin. The drama is being called A Lifetime Love (Chinese title Ancient Love Song – Shang Gu Qing Ge) and all the characters are being given different names due to sensitivity over potential offense as the original novel was about the love and conflict being the ancient gods as named in The Classic of the Mountain and Seas.

It’s still the OP love story with Huang Xiaoming as the brash outcast deity and his devoted love for Victoria Song’s goddess princess. The first drama poster is out and I can’t say I hate it but I still want more visual oomph, especially after the C-drama version of Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossoms is an absolute masterpiece success in how to turn fantasy gods into beautiful and doable live-action storyboard. I’m still excited for this but the bar has now been set high.

  1. OMG! I just noticed that the poster says Luo Yunxi and Wu Qian, and they’re the couple on the left. The adorable young versions of the “You Are My Sunshine” OTP are reunited!

    • OMFG is it them??? For real? I loved them so much way more than the older versions of them xD. I hope they will do something like Love O2O together, I would dig it so much <333

      • Yup, it’s them! From how their names are listed on the poster, it seems like they might just have small parts in the drama, but from how they are posing, they seem to be definitely playing a couple. I would love to see them star in something together again!

    • Wow!! I am so excited! They were both really really cute in My Sunshine. If not for their portion of the show, I would have dropped it way earlier. I stayed on hoping that Tang Yan would finally display 5% of that bubbliness somewhere along the show..

    • I agree. His look seems really out of place compared with the others. The designs for the armor in general also seem to be influenced by the armor of knights in Medieval Europe.

  2. I use to avoid Xianxia genre and I haven’t watched any of the popular dramas from the Xianxia genre at all (Journey of the Flower, Legend of the Sword etc). The only Xianxia I have ever watched is probably Chinese Paladin 1 and Journey to the West (Monkey King). However, I loved the OST songs Liang Liang (Zhang Bi Chen & Aska Yang) and Si Mu (Yisa Yu) so I decided to give Three Lives, Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms a try and I was hooked after the first two episodes. Such a dreamy setting. And Yang Mi is back in her best shape again just like when she stunned me in Schemes of a Beauty. She looks so ethereal here and she has this perfectly foxy vibe as Bai Qian (I think it’s do to her big round eyes). The OST is lovely too. I’m ready for more Xianxia dramas in the future. But this one tho..? Not sure.. Not a fan of Victoria’s acting.. And like @Sisy says, HXM looks like Robin Hood here lol.

    • I’m not a fan of Victoria Song also. Sometimes I think Huang Xiaoming is over acting, too. I will try one or two episodes because Tong Hua is the writer.

      • Yeah me too 🙂 just because Tong Hu is the writer and I love BBJX also because I just finished 3L3WTM and love it sooo much.
I’m not ready to let go yet, and the Kdrama that are airing rigth now Mon – Fri aren’t that great 🙁

      • Hikary25:

You should check out “The General & I” – I like it. I heard the new “Legend of the Condor Heroes (2017)” is very good also.
