Drama Posters and New Preview for Chicago Typewriter Emphasize the Acting Presence of Three Leads

It’s less than week away from the premiere of new tvN Fri-Sat night drama Chicago Typewriter and I’m not getting a good sense as to whether this drama will be a hit or not. I do get a positive strong vibe from the acting snippets seen on the teasers and previews. Yoo Ah In does dismissive arrogant hit writer perfectly while Im Soo Jung doesn’t look a day older in looks or attitude when she’s being charming and offbeat onscreen. Add to the leads chemistry is Go Kyung Pyo who is carving out a niche as the second male lead who isn’t just there to occupy space or be the token rival. The drama posters are nice to look at, the leads gave great photo presence in the character focused ones and the picture within a picture poster presents the 1930’s former lives in a quiet moody tableau.

  1. Is it only me who can’t see any chemistry between im soo jung and yoo ah in? I wonder why he always gets cast with a bit cold looking women in his dramas, first six flying dragon and now this..sigh. Also isn’t im soo jung a bit old for being a fan?

    • they tried to get younger actresses (park shinhye, seolhyun) but one rejected and the other had a bad response from knetz.

      • People don’t like PSH [no idea why], but I think this would have been a good pair on screen. PSH shines more when she does more humane dramas, like flower boy next door in the past.

      • They dislike her because of The Heirs and because she can’t kiss passionately. Lmao, very stupid reasons. Yeah she did well in FBND and Doctors.

      • Finally….someone that know true story has spoken….tq dear. PSH never received the offer for that drama. THE END. Not becoz of people dislike her kissing etc but becoz SHE NEVER RECEIVED the offer.

  2. Looks like people haven’t seen Im Soo Jung ever on the screen. Because she has one of the most vibrant presence on the screen. This teaser alone is not enough to judge her. Yes it’s true she is older and they should have chosen someone more age appropriate like Park Bo Young. But Park Shin Hye is paler as compared to her. I like PSH too.

    • This is just your opinion. We will never know whether PSH portrayal of this role will be paler because she never was offered the role. The last time ISJ was onscreen drama wise was MISA and that role was totally different to this role. She brought out her character strongly and it was easy as an audience to bond with her. For her sake I’m hoping this story is just as gripping as MISA (minus the sad ending)

      • Very few actors/actress are blessed with the gift of versatility which enables them to embody diverse characters perfectly on the screen. Other actors only have the ability to express different facets of their own personalities. It doesn’t mean they are bad actors/actresses but sometimes they are not suited for some roles because they don’t know how to measure the depth of unfamiliar emotions.

      • No matter how versatile, talented or amazing an actor/actress is. If a storyline is weak, they will not be able to save it. I truly believe if PSH was given the chance to act out this role, she would have brought something to the drama ISJ wouldn’t have been able to. (This is not a criticism to ISJ). Also, these two ladies are at different stages of their acting career so to compare them head to head is unfair.

    • Age doesn’t matter as long as she can convey the character on the screen. Remember, this is not an idol fan but an author fan, someone who likes books, not idols. It doesn’t have age limit. Also, remember that Yoo Ah In has worked with actress way older than Im Soo Jung and the chemistry was off the roof. Remember Secret Love Affair?

  3. Is this the first, or rare instance that there is no second female lead in a k drama which is melodrama at its core? I’m curious to know from you all know drama pros here. 🙂 As usually the casting k drama news is always about the two pairs. Right?
