Sageuk Drama A King Loves Finds Doppleganger Counterparts to Leads Im Shi Wan, Yoona and Hong Jong Hyun

K-ent continues to churn out talented child actors who succeed into adult roles, with three big names from the last few years transitioning and leaving a void. Yeo Jin Goo, Kim Yoo Jung, and Kim So Hyun are now fully in leading role territory of their own so there’s room for the new batch of teens to make their mark. Upcoming sageuk A King Loves is a great canvas for that as it has a substantive childhood portion that threads the lives of the three adult leads Im Shi Wan, Yoona, and Hong Jong Hyun together. The production team clearly did well in childhood counterpart casting from the recently released stills of the kiddos – Nam Da Reum is the young prince, Lee Seo Yeon will grow up into Yoona, and Yoon Chan Young looks like Hong Jong Hyun’s baby-faced doppleganger.

While Nam Da Reum and Yoon Chan Young have been in dozens of dramas and visually have become a familiar face to K-drama viewers even if audiences may not know them by name, Lee Seo Yoon will be making her K-drama debut playing younger Yoona so hopefully she ends up impressing on the big stage.

  1. Omg! The similarities are uncanny! The casting team did great! The child actors really do resemble the adult actors!

  2. Oh one of the little kids of Goblin, the reunion with the Goblin after his death was so touching !

The young casting seems nice, I have more doubts about the adults. I didn’t like Yoona in The K2 and Hong Jong Hyun in Moon Lovers.

In sageuks, I’m more curious about Master of the Mask.

  3. Nam Da Reum is such a gem. hope he continues his acting career for long time. I have no complaint about male leads. Only Yoona is boring and dull. Hope she improves like IU.

  4. Nam Da Reum is great. He was amazing in Six Flying Dragons and really good in every other drama I have seen him in. I think he will have a smooth transition into grown up roles when he gets older.

  5. Nam Da Reum,,,, this kid is going to be more popular/ huge later on.. great acting and visual to the max… also great drama history like six flying dragons, goblin and memory
