Melo Queen Lee Kyung Hee Working with JYP Entertainment on Next K-drama After Uncontrollably Fond

Screenwriters are human like any other and encounter their own limitations from time to time. That makes certain hitmakers all the more impressive, but also provides cushion for when a product doesn’t turn out a success. Melodrama queen Lee Kyung Hee‘s last high profile drama Uncontrollably Fond turned out to be less uncontrollably addictive for viewers and also lacking in much fondness from the critics. It wasn’t bad per se, but stray lackings here in there in every department from acting to writing to directing to editing made the drama hard to watch smoothly, ergo hard to fall in love with. I still love Lee Kyung Hee because the end of Uncontrollably Fond tugged at my heartstrings in only that raw visceral way she manages to do, and two episodes of greatness is more than enough for me to keep my fondness for her. K-ent is reporting that agency JYP is working with Lee Kyung Hee on her next drama, which is super weird because JYP already cast it’s most famous female star Suzy in Uncontrollably Fond, unless that’s where the connection was made.

No word yet on the exact nature of the project but I’m guessing it’s a melodrama, har har. I hope JYP doesn’t cast it’s roster of less than impressive acting talent inn this drama other than in supporting roles, I need two leads that hold their own and spark wildly with each other to sell the types of tortured romance that make Lee Kyung Hee dramas so gripping.

      • That’s my first thought too when I read the post. iGOT7 will be thrilled to see him back with a drama.

    • I will support anything but the idea of bring my beloved TWICE for acting. JYP better stay away ftom those idea, or he will risk their career for nothing, like he did to Wonder Girls.

  1. Know your blog and everything. But are you on JYP payroll or die hard Suzy’s fan? Your articles, about her or where she is casually mention, are very convenient.!

    • It’s koala’s blog and it’s upto her whom she want to promote on her blog or whom she not.
I love reading her posts but the continuous Suzy posts also bugs me. She is one of the biggest star right now in Korea and looks like a well-behaved girl but apart from that her very medicore singing skills and non-existent acting skills combined with overhyped beauty are not enough for me to like her.
But Koala necessarily doesn’t like all of big shiny things. He/she is also attracted to talented underdog.
Maybe Koala is just like a normal person who gets caught in star fever occasionally or a shrewed blogger who knows how to attract more traffic to her blog. (Like you and me.)

      • I think that’s precisely why she’s so popular – she has no real talent but for that reason, her handlers have been extra careful about her image after getting lucky with her initial acting projects turning out to be hits. It’s certainly paid off for them.

  2. well I’m waiting for her next drama and who is the one who will star in her next project. But I’m waiting for Park Hyun Suk to make a come back too since i love his style of directing and hiw he handle emotion.
    will they even collaborate again?

  3. Lee Jun Ho(?) from 2pm impressed me in Chief Kim. It might still be a bit too early for him to take lead roles, but tbh if the male lead role goes to a JYP idol I hope he is at least considered.

  4. Junho! I believe he is ready for a lead role, he is so good in Chief Kim. Many viewers identify his acting talent & have forgotten his idol status & his singing talent which is a bit upsetting… I will definitely support him 100%. Him in a melodrama will be very interesting… Not sure of the female JYP lead… maybe a Twice member? ?

  5. A writer still needs to earn her bread and butter so, by sticking with JYP maybe her money losses are cushioned. There will be probably be less stress on her to write a good storyline.

  6. Better actress and actor next time plz. Melo is my fav genre that Suzy killed last time. How about Baek Sung Hyun and Park Shin hye reunion.
