Kwon Sang Woo and Son Tae Young Film CF Together and Celebrate 10th Anniversary

I’ve been quietly watching Wed-Thurs KBS noir mystery drama Queen of Mystery and love it very much. It’s got a lovely mellow pace with pleasant quirkiness aplenty, like a warm cup of tea to sip while perusing an esoteric tome. Much props go to both leads Choi Kang Hee and Kwon Sang Woo, and while I loved her once in Protect the Boss this is the first time I’ve loved him in any drama. I got close in his prior dramas in Temptation and Bad Love but both times the characters end up frustrating me but here it’s a great combination of interesting character and relaxed personable performance. He’s been a leading man since the early Hallyu era but also one of the first in his generation to get married, as evidenced by this being the 10th anniversary year with actress wife Son Tae Young since they started dating. They met in 2007, married in 2008, welcomed their son in 2009, and added to the family with a daughter recently in 2015. It’s nice to see established actors continue to evolve and I always leave open the possibility my opinions will as well.

  1. Wow….they make a lovely couple. I always thought he made a great couple with Choi Ji Woo from the “Stairway to Heaven” days..I can’t seem to like any of his other dramas…Queen of Mystery is pretty cute. He is such a good actor..from the Chaebol determined playful Heir to this Rough and goofy cop…

  2. You are right. Ever since Stairway to Heaven, I’ve had difficulty liking his roles that followed. I absolutely could not finish Bad Love aka Cruel Love. It was just too miserable. Then I gave up. But, since I love his acting and Choi Kang-hee, I gave this a chance and I’m sure glad I did!

  3. Queen of Mystery is a solid drama with good actors and direction. I would say the pacing and the story are a little uneven at times, but I like all the characters so much I find myself not caring. Both lead actors are good, but it took me a while to realize the gal is from Heart to Heart.

  4. I’m so sad Mystery Queen is over 🙁

I also rediscovered Kwon Sang-woo thanks to that show. Didn’t know he could do comedy so well!
