Mystery Queen to Have Second Season on KBS Next Year with Leads Choi Kang Hee and Kwon Sang Woo Likely Returning

There’s finally a positive in the generally dismaying results when K-dramas try to do a season 2 or even a sequel to milk a popular drama. The underrated and much loved KBS detective housewife drama from earlier this spring Mystery Queen (Queen of Mystery) has gotten the greenlight from the network to come back for a season 2 next year in 2018. That’s great news as the set up and execution was refreshing and fun enough to make this one of my most liked K-dramas this year so far. Even better is hearing that leads Choi Kang Hee and Kwon Sang Woo are likely returning, they were the central spotlight of what made the drama work with their delightfully charming banter and bicker routine that all partner type narratives aspire to but is so difficult to do right. I’m sure there are plenty more mysteries for the duo to solve so feel free to dip back into the well on this one.

Mystery Queen is also a huge success on its drama posters and promotional stylishness. I hope the second season produces even more eye-catching visuals as well as bringing back the heart of the partnership between the leads.

  1. Yay! I was really hoping that there would be a season 2 so I am so happy that a quick decision was made. Now if only there was word about another season of “When a Snail Falls in Love” (C-drama)…

  2. Yes!!! It was sooo good, it deserved a second season. Ajuhma deserves to become a real police officer, it’s her dream ^^

  3. OMG YEEEES!!! XD XD I was super hoping there would be a second season since it had all the possibilities for one. So glad that the 2 leads are likely signing on cuz their chemistry was amazing! 😀 Hopefully the second lead and the supporting characters also sign on cuz this was one drama where all the characters aided the whole story very well 🙂

  4. I’m in the middle of watching it now. I was a bit tired of watching only melos and rom-coms and this is a nice change of pace. It is very fun so I’m glad to hear that there will be second season 🙂

  5. Hopefully they will not recycle season one nor over romance season two, but move forward to continue ensnaring our interests and whetting our imagination’s desire for uniqueness.

  6. I’m for a second season if she divorces the husband and puts the mother-in-law in a nursing home. Otherwise, don’t think I can handle the poor abused daughter-in-law scenario for another 16 episodes.
