Oh now this is a promising and unexpected K-drama casting, and I’m happy to hear how in demand the actor in question is. Idol-actor Choi Siwon has been offered the male lead in upcoming romantic drama Byun Hyuk’s Love, with the lack of any news related to Siwon these past two years due to his quiet and uneventful military enlistment at the end of 2015. Siwon will be discharged on August 18th and clearly has no worries for diving back into his entertainment career be it this drama offer or rejoining Super Junior. Also in talks to join this drama is Kang Sora, and the pairing of the two with a track record of great comedic talent and necessary romantic chemistry heft makes me very happy and hopeful both will say yes. The drama comes from the PD of Another Oh Hae Young and the screenwriter of Miss Temper and Nam Jung Gi. The story is a romantic and friendship tale of a third generation chaebol heir hiding out in the countryside, a super poor female lead, and a hardworking ambition second male lead itching to attain wealth and success.
Choi Siwon’s last drama prior to enlistment was as the wasted second male lead in She Was Pretty, but still gets fond memories for a comedic turn as the second male lead in The King of Dramas. Kang Sora is coming off a decent last drama with Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul Ho but her last romance themed drama was the major dud Warm and Cozy so she definitely deserves a great male lead and a nicely written romance.
