Song Seung Heon and Go Ara Start Filming OCN Grim Reaper Police Drama Black

Darker and serious themed dramas seem to be the ones getting good reviews this year so hopefully OCN has the right execution and cast lined up for its upcoming grim reaper soul swap drama Black. Taking over from Save Me (and followed by Bad Guys 2), Black tells the story of a grim reaper cast off from heaven played by Song Seung Heon who possess the body of a police detective, and together with a reporter played by Go Ara who can see death they work together to save lives against the heavenly orders.

Rounding out the cast is the Lee El coming off from one grim reaper drama to another after Goblin along with young actor Kim Dong Joon. The screenwriter is Choi Ran who wrote God’s Gift: 14 Days and Iljimae with PD Kim of Voice, Pied Piper, and Liar Game directing. Hopefully both Song Seung Heon and Go Ara will fare better back in a modern setting compared to their respective last drama outings in sageuks Saimdang: Light’s Diary and Hwarang.

Song Seung Heon and Go Ara Start Filming OCN Grim Reaper Police Drama Black — 6 Comments

    • Actually SSH got quite good reviews for his performance in Saimdang. Fingers crossed for this drama. I’ve watched this writer’s last work God’s Gift, and it was wonderful (except for the rather rushed ending). So high hopes for this one. Go Ara’s eyes are very special, with a seemingly grey tint to the pupils. Very suitable for this role as a girl who can see death.

  1. Lets see if either of the leads have improved their acting. I do hope Go Ara’s peak wasn’t her in Reply 94. Song Seung Heon.. is handsome but flat

  2. The female second lead will probably act circles around the main leads. The casting of SSG an Go Ara has me scratching my head, just why?? And for a genre that require more acting chops?? I hope they prove me wrong but kdramas casting agents really need to give more talented rookie actors a chance.

If the story and acting are good word will spread inside and outside the industry but they want to play it safe. I read a translate article where kdramas casting agents said that there aren’t many choices for lead roles these days. It explains alot.

  3. Well excuse me, have you seen her dramas for you to say that? if she can’t act why did she become an actress? duh? Do you know how hard it is to be an actor? It’s easy to judge but can’t prove what they said.
