First Character Posters of Zhao Li Ying and Feng Shao Feng for Period C-drama The Story of Ming Lan

Filming has started for high profile 2019 period C-drama The Story of Ming Lan, with the mouthful Chinese title of 知否知否应是绿肥红瘦 (Zhi Fou Zhi Fou Ying Shi Lv Fei Hong Shou which means Don’t you know? The Green should be Plump and the Red Lean). It’s adapted from a popular novel much like many recent period C-dramas, and this one gets the added publicity of starring two famous leads Feng Shao Feng and Zhao Li Ying, who are also currently caught up in dating in real life rumors. I’m curious to see how this translates into onscreen chemistry but it’s also worth keeping an eye on to see if Zhao Li Ying’s incredible streak of picking successful C-dramas continues. The character costume posters are out for the two leads and I hope Zhao Li Ying’s female lead Ming Lan keeps her hair down for most of the drama, this high arrangement look doesn’t work on Zhao Li Ying since she’s so petite with a very small face.

  1. So what happens with princess Agent? Was it just half a drama? I’m about to riot! Lol

Looking forward to this one too tho

    • Thinking abou PA makes my blood boils!!!!!!!!!! Just wanna grab the nearest something and smash it through the window ? If not for my combined love of ZLY and LGX (and the surprisingly hot Shawn Dou), I wouldn’t have been sucked into that deep hole of worthless crap! Arggghhhh

I’m sure many share the same sentiments…

    • There are rumors that the continuation drama to Princess Agents (since only half of the story was adapted in the first) will be filmed. It was first rumored that Angelababy and Yang Rong would take over Zhao Liying and Li Qin’s roles, respectively, but I also heard that Lin Gengxin and Shawn Dou will only be willing to film if Zhao Liying will be the lead again. I’ve also heard that Zhao Liying will have time for it in her schedule though. Basically, there are a bunch of rumors surrounding it.

Frankly, Princess Agents was just an okay drama. The story was interesting, but it just seemed to drag for a good part of the drama. I also really disliked how it was filmed and edited. For me, the green screened scenes were tacky and it was obvious that the actors weren’t filming together. (Producers want to quickly film and air dramas, while actors’ schedules seem to be too packed to be all present, which really just lowers the quality of the drama itself.) Hunan TV, the network channel that aired the drama, also has a habit of editing dramas weirdly and dragging them out. And to end the drama right when Chu Qiao realizes how much she cares for Yuwen Yue, when Hunan TV had been pushing for that couple forever, when Chu Qiao and Yuwen Yue scenes were far less than that of Chu Qiao and Yan Xun, it was definitely heartbreaking and rage-inducing. I also heard that the author had initially planned for Yan Xun to be the male lead when writing the story, but then decided to change the male lead to Zhuge Yue (changed to Yuwen Yue in the drama) as she was writing and publishing chapters online, so that could also be a factor.
