Shin Se Kyung Plays Two Roles and Seo Ji Hye is the 200 Year Old Antagonist with Kim Rae Won the Titular Black Knight

Filming is ready to start for upcoming KBS Wed-Thurs early winter drama Black Knight, which sounds all sorts of odd and interesting. The interesting part is the story and the odd part the casting, I would have switched up the two female actress roles due to their respective acting talents. Female lead Shin Se Kyung works at a travel agency but has never traveled abroad, and finds her family and work life in disarray at the start of the drama. She’s a hard worker raised by her aunt, is rather frail but makes up for it with a strong personality. Seo Ji Hye is the antagonist second female lead who has not aged for since “that incident” 200 years ago, she looks like a young woman but talks like an old lady. She cannot age or die, has a prickly personality and is focused on one goal without the ability to move on. She’s the beautiful and lonely mean girl. And between them stands Kim Rae Won as the smart successful business owner who is super romantic when it comes to love.

I feel like Black Knight takes the Goblin male lead and makes him the antagonist second female lead and see what happens in that alternate narrative. Perhaps it’s good that Seo Ji Hye is playing the more interesting character though for the sake of having a satisfying OTP I would have loved if she got the female lead role. Black Knight comes from the writer of Unkind Women and Equator Man with the PD of Unkind Women directing, slated for a December premiere.

  1. If the lead had the second lead lady role then this story would had been much more promising. Overall still gonna watch it for Kim Rae won!

  2. this drama is the one i am anticipating the most.the plot is fresh and intriguing, the cast solid and also kim rae won rarely miss a good drama.

  3. Seo Ji Hye is so beautiful and a good actress. Pity always landing second lead roles.

Kim Rae Won and Seo Ji Hye in one drama again, hope its as good as Punch.

    • You speak my mind. Seriously, KRW and SJH had good chemistry in Punch, why are they making SSK his lead actress? She may have been okay in some period dramas, but BOTWG really gave a bad impression about her. I want KRW drama to succeed and I’m just afraid that SSK is going to suck the soul out of her character and that she won’t be able to emote. I mean, the male lead is supposed to be super romantic so I want to see that being reciprocated…

  4. ’’..who is super romantic when it comes to love.’’.. yeah.. uh.. I feel like we are heading a train wreck if Shin Se Kyung keeps up with her BOTWG level of acting and emoting. How can KRW effectively show romantic attraction, if he isn’t going to be reciprocated by his co-actress? SSK’s good when it comes to sageuks, but ’’hard worker’’ and ’’bright personality’’ already sound like bad bargain. Just ugh! I was so much anticipating KRW drama and I kinda wished he’d pick up something like Punch again.

  5. Are you kidding me? SSK can’t even handle one role and you give her two??!! Give her a Grim Reaper role..look at SSH, he is actually funny when he is stony-faced. Finally a role that suits him.
