Drama Posters and Long Preview for MBC Drama Two Cops Premiering This Monday

It’s drama premiere week for MBC, languishing in last place and besieged by a labor strike to out a corrupt network president. On Monday new soul-swap police drama Two Cops arrives, followed on Wed-Thurs by rom-com I am Not a Robot. I’m more excited for the latter due to the subject matter and cast but am hopeful the former is solid fare for the sake of talented male lead Jo Jung Seok. He’s going to play double duty to carry the drama, playing a no nonsense police detective and also the same detective with the soul of a swindler’s personality inside. The swindler is played by smirky Kim Sun Ho, with female lead Hyeri as a dogged reporter and hopefully not the type to stupidly rush into crime scenes and dangerous investigations though that appears to be the way K-dramas write every single female reporter. The drama is by the PD of Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo and A New Leaf with the script by a newbie screenwriter that won the 2016 KBS crime drama writing competition and was later picked up by MBC.

  1. I’m really excited by a drama with Jo Jung Seok but not really by Hyeri… I found funny that Hyeri asked Suzy for advices about playing a journalist when her co-star played in Incarnate Jealousy and he is a far better actor than Suzy…

He was so good in Jealousy Incarnate with Gong Hyo Jin that I’m afraid to be disappointed.

    • I mean, a mediocre actress asking a worse actress advice in acting sounds so hilarious. That’s true that JJS acted as a reporter/announcer in JI so it would have been better she asked JJS about acting as a reporter instead of Suzy. Maybe she asked how to act only pretty, who knows?

      • Be prepared to be disappointed. The verdict is in, the acting is terrible. Poor JJS. The drama has such promise but now it’s ruined by Hyeri. He deserves a better partner. JJS and Hyo Jin made Jealousy Incarnate fantastic!

      • her acting IS terrible in the trailer… Hyeri has nothing good to offer… as expected, she ruins everything… I guess I won’t be starting this drama at all then…

  2. from this long trailer, the action scenes look well done. Hyeri is overacting and her screaming voice is a bit annoying… Looks like JJS is the only one carrying this drama as I don’t know the second leads. hmmm… this drama is not high on my to-watch list, I may check it out for JJS sake but I have concerns about the exaggerating Hyeri, hope I can FF her easily 🙂

  3. My goodness! I can’t even finish watching the trailer because Hyeri’s acting is so annoying. Why are actresses like her allowed to act? Her over acting is even worse than Suzy’s wooden acting. Her weirdly pointy nose is distracting too. Poor JJS!

  4. Does South Korea not have proper actresses? All these idols are making audiences run away and stupidly enough they pair them up with good actors.

    • it’s obvious the downgrade from Han Jimin to Hyeri means that there are probably not many available actresses who are popular + can act who wants to do the role.

      • Why do they have to cast an actress based on popularity? Of course if they can get one then yes, but why can’t they be bold and give it to someone who can act instead???

    • production team doesn’t have enough money so they secure a good actor and the actress can be a ’’pretty’’ idol actress (honestly I don’t find Suzy or Hyeri pretty, although Hyeri is prettier out of the two of them) whose only job is to be the pretty love interest

      • That’s not a good enough excuse. They might have well cast a nobody but a proper actress (who is not pricy) and I’m sure the audience could watch the drama and ‘feel’ the character.

      • @Abc
most production teams don’t care about the art value. They think that making a decent cash is good enough. Of course if it’s a huge success then it’s even better. Also, idols like Hyeri and Suzy bring in the PPL deals and idol fans so it further proves how production teams mostly care about is profitability
