SBS Mon-Tues Drama My Strange Hero Toggles Between Serious and Sweet in New Previews

Now that the high profile December K-drama arrivals are done with, I can go back to anticipating a potentially fun and fulfilling smaller scale drama with SBS Mon-Tues premiere of My Strange Hero (Bok Soo is Back) next week. It all about my Yoo Seung Ho obsession love and he’s on a rom-com streak lately so I’m hoping My Strange Hero is even better than his last drama I am Not a Robot. Costarring the talented and fast rising Jo Boa with Kwak Dong Yeon as a fantastic pick for second male lead, the drama shows us the three interacting in high school with mostly comedic and some serious elements, and then picking up in the present time where the three are thrown back together and forced to properly deal with their past conflicts while paving a positive way forward. I’m hoping the romance isn’t forced and the friendship and personal growth aspects get proper development. It’s never too late for second chances in life or love.

  1. I was disapointed y his lastest projects and i find that his talent is not well exploited . Good luck, they are going against Shin Ha Kyung ‘s drama which is really good . With Sky Castle they are the most interesting airing dramas and for once ratings are agree with me.

    • I want to see him in role like Warrior Baek Dong So or I Miss You. He was very charismatic.

His post army dramas are not so good…

      • But… he played villains in WBDS and IMY. For an actor like him who has big potential, choosing only villains characters would only restrict his career choices. Why should he play villains when he can be a nation’s heartthrob ? Moreover, IMY was not good either.

      • @spark01 But in WBDS, he wasn’t really a villain, he was more useful than the hero. And in IMY, he was the villain but his character was not a typical villain and was the most interesting character. He showed his best acting in those dramas.

      • @sayaris . His performance was really good in Ruler, he hard carried the drama and played a charismatic crown prince. I have to disagree with you on this. You are impylying he is only good in 2nd roles/ villains and loses his spark when he plays male lead characters. The issue is not with him then, but with how scripts are written. Have you seen a male lead character like Harry Borrison or Yeo Woon ? Koreans don’t like shady/ dark male leads. As I said it previously, why should
he settle for 2nd lead roles when he has the chance to do male lead roles ? My take is that he hasn’t met the right script and as @cahill said his last projects simply didn’t exploit well his talent. Once he gets a really good offer, I have faith he can do wonders.

      • @Sayaris Omo thank heavens finally I met a fan here who isnt judgemental and acknowledges him NOT BEING A VILLAIN in WBDS and IMY BOTH. Say just for once Harry can be called a Villain if we totally put aside his reasonings for murders (some of which were extra people because obviously the writer needed him to look bad to pair off lead couple, which didnt work for so many of us) which came out of the blue and looked SO unconvincing *rolls eyes*, but Yeo Woon? No way in hell! For me he was the ultimate HERO, the heartthrob of WBDS period!! I’d love to see Yoo Seung Ho play a lead role like that or if its Harry then remove the killing part and go for total destruction method like that in City Hunter and Bam! We’ll have a lead like never before. Also,I dont think it will hurt to see him play a middle range role with a good combination of intense and comedy stuff or something like Wang Su of Moon Lovers (he was the Male Lead too btw and super famous) or some vampire or a werewolf. Till Remember he was fine. Robot was badly written and simply lame and stupid .Teasers of this show look promising though. I’ll surely try it out for him.

      • @Sayaris Agree. I’d be blessed if I see him in a lead role similiar to Yeo Woon or Harry. If writer wants it then anything is possible.Such leads arent nonexistent. Will watch this show while waiting for that day.

      • I got blocked so that I couldnt post here with my old id Infinity? WOAH. Take screenshot of this too, like I said you cant stop me. I will say what I want even if my criticism looks negativity to the stalkers.
        Anyways @SAYARIS
Thank god finally I met a fan here who isnt judgemental and acknowledges him of NOT being a villain in Wbds and Missing You both. Say for once Harry was a villain if we totally brush aside his motivations and lack of knowledge for Detective Kim’s murder (everything looked SO unconvincing btw he was just 13 and throughout the series sorry he just wasnt evil enough for me to call him evil *rolls eyes*) but Yeo Woon? Hell no!! He didnt murder anyone, just because he was forced into the assassin’s title doesnt mean he really was a bad heartless killer. I saw him save every single useless ungrateful person’s skin on that show (including the titular character) and die trying to do so, so for me he was the ultimate HERO, the heartthrob of WBDS period!! Oh I’m still so frustrated that Woonie never got a happy ending *sob* I hope no writer ever does that to the viewers qgain. Anyways, I’d love to see Yoo Seung Ho play a solo lead role like that (maybe later if not now) or if its Harry then remove the killing part and go for total destruction method like that in City Hunter and bam! We’ll have a lead like never before. I’m sure YSH is as good in acting as Lee Min Ho,he has already proven his acting skills, he just needs the right team and script. Also,I dont think it will hurt to see him play a middle range role with a balanced combination of intense and light stuff. Shady leads exist too, Wang Su of Moon Lovers, (he was THE shady Male Lead btw and super famous), LYS/Lee Min Ho fron City Hunter,TogHon Temur/JCW from Empress Ki and many more. Fantasy show wouldnt hurt either. So the idea that romcoms are the only possible way to shed off melo image is wrong. Although if he wants to do it then he should atleast choose the script wisely. Till Remember he was fine but yes I agree post enlistment he kinda slumped. Again, Robot was badly written and pure lame. He was the sole USP of that show. Teasers of this show look promising though. I’ll surely try it out for him.

  2. I watched this guy drama with kim so hyun in josen style dont remember the name but it was pretty good. So will give it a try.
