Kang Ji Hwan Admits to Rape and Sexual Assault Charges and Seo Ji Suk Stepping in as Male Lead in Joseon Survival Tale

This was a fast resolution and best for everyone involved. I’m sick of K-ent stars denying denying and denying criminal activity only to admit it in the end after irrefutable evidence is revealed. K-actor Kang Ji Hwan has admitted to the charges of rape and sexual assault on two women last week at his home after the three were hanging out drinking. He issued a statement admission and stating that he will accept the punishment and atone for his crime. His currently airing Chosun TV drama Joseon Survival Tale has found Seo Ji Suk to step in for the remaining 10-episode second half, thereby saving the production and network from having to cut their losses. As much as I once loved Kang Ji Hwan as an actor, I hope he never ever attempts a comeback and lives out the rest of his life being out of the public eye, after he serves his jail time.

  1. Honestly i don’t think he could return one day . Not only because of his crime but also because of the rising younger actors who have a lot of better opportunities than he has since a few years. A lot of actors who debuted at the same period as him and didn’t nothing wrong disappeared from prime time dramas : Jo hyun Jae, Jae Hee,Kim Jae Won,Song Chang Ui, Ko Joo Won,… KJH has never hide his ambition to do a big hit drama , frustration of watching younger actors getting it may have play a part of his crime and reveal his dark side. just saying . Nothing can excuse what he did . NOTHING !

    • I guess instead of mapping his future career you should discuss the reasons for these Korean celebrities turning into sexual offenders. What kind of education these people have got?

      • K Entertainment is not the only one with sexual offenders . Bill Cosby, Luc Besson, Weinstein , Ed Westwick, Kevin Spacey, Morgan Freeman, Roman Polanski, Michael Jackson, Woody Allen, RKelly, Bryan Singer,… are not Korean !!!and some cases wich are Under nego Neymar, Ronaldo,…so i don’t see what korean education has to with it.

      • @cahili
The difference between Korean celebrities and Hollywood celebrities is their ‘image’. Korean actors pretend to be all pure, righteous, kind and gentlemanly. Moreover in Korea you have to maintain a clean record to not fall out of public favour. Despite having multiple fold pressure these scums managed to commit such a crime.

      • Neymar case is already cleared in Brazil, he’s innocent and the girl tried to frame him for money. Get your facts clear before you bring someone’s name into this mess.

      • Sorry @Nat, but i didn’t say that he did it just that he was involved as Ronaldo Or Gérard Depardieu , and @female i was refering about your quote ” What kind of education these people have got ?” I misunderstood your meaning, i thought that you were implying that korean education is supposed to be better than others. Forgive me .

  2. The only good thing is that he admited all. If others could do the same… 2019 is a very bad year and 5 months are left . Please some good news pour l’amour de Dieu !

  3. So sad-take care, KJH! And May your future be peaceful ! Wish that you have someone who understands and cares for you!

    • Are you for real?
This man has raped two women!
He has traumatised two women for their lives. Do you think we should show any sympathy towards him?
He deserves to rot in the jail.

    • I knew I’d see a disgusting ahjumma here commenting love comments to a bloody RAPIST. You people are the ones who should have experienced what those victims went through.

      • @preetyautmn
        You are at it again.
Why do you wish such a nasty thing for these ajjumas?
Only place they need to go is mental asylum.
What kind of moral decline is world going through that they are lauding a rapist for accepting his guilt?
If he is rally sorry then he should end his life because sexual abuse is not something that a person (both men & women)should easily get away with.
Seriously how can a normal person rape two women????

  4. I hope he means what he says, what he did, it doesn’t lessen any of that in its magnitude as a crime but it gives me hope that people can indeed change for the better. As for forgiveness, only victims have the right to decide on that. I do hope he gets punishment and atones for the sin he has committed for the rest of his life. Nothing more to say here.

  5. Again I say, such a waste of his hard works. But at least, he admitted to it and got the case settled quickly instead of inflicting more pain to the victims. I hope he really atone over crimes and mistakes.

  6. He was always like this, he had scandals with Southeast Asian prostitutes and he used a lot of prostitute services. He already viewed women be eath him. Park Shi Hoo should go to jail too.

  7. oppa, I really liked u ,serve ur jail term and Know Almighty God, Have a new hobby , ur case is really sad , if u were married or had a stable girlfriend , this could not have happened.

    • How would you know? A Trash like him can grap any woman close by to satisfy his animal desire. Do you expect his wife or girlfriend to follow him anywhere with legs wide open? He is Garbage not worth any partner. Or you can volunteer since you like him so much ?

  8. Just saying how can decent girls follow a guy for drinks, when one is very druck , they tend to behave like mad people, he could have told the public , he thought he was acting.Anyway if he had married like ji sung or had a stable girlfriend like Jung kyung ho this would not happen , I pray he would learn from his mistakes.

    • There are literally hundreds of reported cases of rape where drunk guys have dragged girls who are not going to get a drink but are just returning home from work and children too. So, your point is null and void and frankly speaking a disturbing attempt to blame the survivor or victim. Being decent, lifestyle, clothes have nothing to do with rape. The blame lies solely with the perpetrator.

    • Have you heard of marital rape? Are you f*cking stupid? Married men (even women) rape every day everywhere in the world. There are some cases where father has raped his daughter for years. Do you understand what rape is? Omfg I don’t want to live on this planet anymore.

      • @ Prettyautumn “some cases” you mean plenty of cases” . Did you know that Rita Hayworth was abused by his father . There is not a single day without this kind of cases. Women abused because it’s their “marital duty”, childs, men are also abused … MAD WORLD , some should read the greek mythology… oedipe’s father sexually assaulted a teenager ,…

    • Are you seriously defending him with the fact that he didn’t have a girlfriend/wife ?! Since when has that ever stopped such scum from committing such vulgar acts ?! And you dare to blame the victims for this, I swear women are they own worst enemies

  9. Rape has nothing to do with having a partner to have intercourse with. It’s a demonstration of power and domineering over the victim. Also there’s a thing called marrital rape, in case you didn’t know. Please stop putting sexual offenders on an altar and making excuses for their vicious behaviour just because they’re men you admire. That’s disgusting, not to mention self humiliating.

      • I totally agree with you.

It is sad and wrong how people tend to make excuses or make misguided scenarios for culprits to absolve them of blame. Yet they tend to unconsciously blame and shame victims of rape.

        Wrong. wrong. wrong.

  10. Rape is a crime, pedophile rapist sexual offenders are monsters . I hope the victims will not be forever a victim instead they will be survivors.stronger braver happier.

  11. Yeah, really diappointed in him and all but how come Park Shi Woo got a comeback but we’re assuming KJH won’t attempt that? Really asking because I’m curious.

  12. @artheusa I am not sideing his act , rape is a serious crime , I just meant if he was married or had a stable girlfriend he would not have raped.

    • So you mean married men don’t rape or all of them can satisfy themselves with only their wives.
You seem to forget last years #metoo cases in Korea all of which were committed by married men having children !
Even if a man is unable to control his d**k or he is feeling sexually repressed he should go to a w***house and put his d**k inside a consenting adult. Also he should pay her well.
A decent man would rather burn his d**k than even thinking about molesting a woman.
I’m appaled that no one is feeling pity for the raped women in comment section. That dude don’t need any sympathy because he acted like an animal.

    • Having a girlfriend or wife has nothing to do with it.

He was intoxicated. His imaginative libido was probably firing up at that time. However, since the police stated that he was too drunk at that time, he was probably just undressing and touching those ladies while they were asleep.

He has to pay the price regardless.

  13. If he were in USA, he would get life in prison or 60yrs minimum sentences. He would probably get raped in prison because I heard criminal offenders hate rapist.

    • He would get raped in prison more than likely because the system is unfortunately broken and inhumane in a lot of ways.

  14. We are just halfway of 2019 and here we are with so many controversies and scandals. I’m deeply saddened with what is happening in kdrama/kpop land. I thought 2014 was the worst year for kpop but nothing is worse than 2019. So painful to know and tbh I don’t want bad news anymore.

  15. Goodbye Kang Ji Hwan, it was okay until you messed up your life and others with said action. You have lost a fan who will no longer watch any of said works – past, present or future.

For what he did, punishment is deservedly so. The problem is with the culture that makes it okay especially when it comes to drinking. If a woman says no to drinking with coworkers etc she is viewed in a negative light and may encounter negative after effects, this aspect must be fixed especially in a patriarchial society.

  16. Bye KJH.

Shame that his career ranked but he deserves what he gets as a consequence of his actions. While I claim justice for the victims, I do think asking him to kill himself is going overboard. He should get his due punishment through the law, whatever jail sentence there is. Otherwise, the death penalty would be the answer for all crimes. Let’s temper public outcry with sense, otherwise we’re no better than a Lynch mob. What I do hope and pray for, is that the victims get their day in court and someday move past the trauma with minimal emotional scars.
