Gong Hyo Jin is an Earnest Neighborhood Bar Owner in Poster for KBS Drama When the Camellia Blooms

The metaphor for Gong Hyo Jin‘s character name Dong Baek being the camellia flower is carried over in the drama title When the Camellia Blooms. She’s not very confident and rather unsure of herself so her blooming happens after she gets involved with the three male leads in various ways, with Kang Ha Neul based on the first teaser being the primary romantic interest. Screenwriter Im also wrote Fight for My Way so the drama style focuses on the low key interactions and small scale aspirations of the characters, in this case Gong Hyo Jin runs her small restaurant/bar and Kang Ha Neul is an earnest policeman wooing her in the most dorky of ways. I’m not yet feeling their chemistry but I do love Gong Hyo Jin’s casual low key vibe.

  1. I love Gong Hyo Jin. So happy to see her in another drama!
Now if only Soo Ae also finally returned to dramaland.. Sobs…

  2. I love GHJ and everything about her but hasn’t she basically being doing the exact same role for over a decade now? There’s never any variety.

  3. This reminds me of her pasta character, same personality vibe and hairstyle. I do love Hong hyojin, but idk about this pairing, she looks a lot older than Kang haneul, if the lead was Kim jisuk whose age is closer, they’d match better. I couldn’t start Goblin, Mr. Sunshine, etc. For the same reason.
