Gong Hyo Jin is on a much deserved promotional tour after finishing the successful KBS drama When the Camellia Blooms, first with this lovely Elle Korea spread. Mark my words, she’s getting the Daesang at the KBS Drama Awards and will be her first drama awards Daesang after winning plenty of Top Excellence and Excellence Actress awards for dramas including Thank You, Best Love, Pasta, and It’s Ok, It’s Love. I thought both her and Jo In Sung for IOIL had a shot at the Daesang in any normal drama year but that year 2014 the SBS Drama Awards was insane as Daesang went to Jeon Ji Hyun of course for You From Another Star and even Kim Soo Hyun settled for Top Excellence. The drama landscape is much different now in 2019 and while her performance in Camellia was nowhere near what I love about her acting, if she wins the Daesang I’ll take it as a prize for her other roles that were Daesang worthy in the past.
Daesang for Camella? I truly hope not. There are so many other actresses that deserve that award. It may be a popular drama but her acting there was the worst I’ve seen of her. She was so consciously acting in that drama. Daesang, no. No offense meant.
She deserves it. And awards are always combination of acting plus ratings.
