K-movie Pirates 2 Gets Whole New Cast of Kwon Sang Woo, Kang Ha Neul, and Kwang Soo

It would have been great to get the main cast back, well at least those who aren’t gone or cancelled. K-movie Pirates 2 was the long planned sequel to the box office hit Pirates starring Son Ye Jin, Kim Nam Gil, and Yoo Hae Jin. Initially the leads were planned to return for the sequel but after many years the movie is finally starting filming in July of 2020 but none of the leads will return. The new leads are now Kwon Sang Woo, Kang Ha Neul, and Kwang Soo. Son Ye Jin and Kim Nam Gil are having career highs last year with Crash Landing on You and The Fiery Priest so it would have been very buzzy to have them back but other original cast members like Sulli who passed and Oh Dal Soo got blacklisted because of the Me Too movement so perhaps a brand new start is a better option.

  1. I really enjoyed the first Pirates, it was such a fun movie! They could easily have done a second part as long as Son Ye Jin and Kim Nam Gil came back, just write the supporting characters out.

Anyway I think this new rebooted cast isn’t bad either, Kang Haneul is great in sageuk and comedy roles but a sageuk action-comedy role by him will be fun to watch!

  2. Kwon sang was one of my firat crushers when i watched stairway to heaven. He really doesnt get best roles but he doesnt need it. He owns nearly 70 million usd real estate and from rent alone he earns millions. Maybe thats why. I just want him ti get that old success again

  3. Son Ye Jin was the reason I watched Pirates, it was a great fun film. To see YET ANOTHER Chungmuro film churned out with a trio of male leads and no significant female parts confirms my antipathy toward it

  4. Oh I love pirates, need more budget actually but still fun. It will be so much better if they kept KNG and SYJ as the main leads
