Cable network jTBC is ON FIRE. Drama gods are on the side of the second most well-known cable network in 2020, with the conclusion of record setting Itaewon Class the follow up drama sets a new ratings record as well. The makjang The World the Married with Kim Hee Ae and Park Hae Joon got 6.260% ratings in the first episode, the highest rated premiere for any jTBC drama. Now I’m back in ratings watch, that fun journey of seeing whether a drama can keep bringing in/keeping viewers and returning K-drama viewing back to the addicting world of K-dramas. The World of the Married comes from the PD of Misty, Smile Again, and Beautiful Mind with the screenwriter of Revolutionary Love and My Horrible Boss.

  1. Damn that is great start. She was amazing in secret love affair and looks like this is a much watch as well. And its great to see an actress in her 50s doing so well!

  2. I believe Itaewon Class gave it this boost, however only the quality of a drama can maintain ratings. Let’s see how things progress in the next few weeks.

  3. Watched the first 2 episodes and it is totally Kim Hee Ae style of drama. She often has plays the middle-aged victimized wife in one way or another so this drama is no different. But the tropes (1) ambitious woman with a good-for-nothing husband (2) avenging by wishing ill on the other woman more than the husband bother me. Still, if you see it as a category drama, it’s a very realistic one.

    • She did Mrs. Cop and Second to Last Love before this so she does try different things but I guess since she also did Secret Love Affair and that too in JTBC, people tend to draw that conclusion.

  4. Is 10% for 2nd epi. She is doing much better than any hyped A listed oppa. No need fantasy nor high budget. Or maybe is a time when most stay home? Even IC can’t match this.

  5. That first poster alone looks very juicy and makjang. Reminds me of the days of Desperate Housewives vibes and original Dynasty with Joan Collins rocking big time as bad ass Alexis Carrington, breaking up marriages, having affairs and catfights in the mud. Love those soapy days, hahahah. This drama has the potential to go nuclear bringing back a lost audience, all the bored housewives would love this. Lol.
