New SBS Mon-Tues Drama Good Casting with Choi Kang Hee and Lee Sang Yeob Impresses with Premiere Ratings of 9.5% and 12.3%

Wowser, consider me surprised but also believing that this could have happened. New SBS Mon-Tues drama Good Casting, which takes over from Nobody Knows, rather impressed with a nobody could have expected surprising ratings. Episode 1 notched 9.5% and 12.3%, making it easily the time slot ratings leader over low single digit competitors Born Again and 365: Repeat the Year. Starring Choi Kang Hee, Lee Sang Yeon, Yoo In Young, and Lee Jong Hyuk, the drama strikes me along the vibes of successful Choi Kang Hee dramas like Protect the Boss and Mystery Queen and clearly not like her tried hard to be a spy drama but failed drama adaptation of 7th Level Civil Servant. For comparison, Good Casting has a small budget and almost no press coverage and got ratings comparable to SBS Fri-Sat drama The King: Eternal Monarch‘s first episode ratings of 10.1% and 11.4%. Consider me intrigued and ready to check this out!

  1. 365 repeat the year is really a good mystery thriller fantasy drama. The story, the actors acting performances, directing, editing and cinematography are good. I just feel that it is so underrated and it deserves higher viewership rating

    • I second you , 365 repeat the year was an interesting drama. Just that i knew from the beginning who was the killer .

      • Agreed, I love Repeat the Year. Nam Ji Hyun and Lee Joon Hyuk are SO good in it: my favorite role for both of them.

      • i also feel the same. 365 was a really good drama. if 365 was shown in SBS or in TVN this would have gotten better domestic viewership ratings.

  2. This is surprising, I’ll check it out after 2nd episode airs. It’s pretty sad and intriguing that this drama got better ratings than monarch. I looked it up, director doesn’t have promising works but writer is a newbie. Maybe newbie writer is a natural talent. I love me some girl power projects. It’s looks fun, maybe Korean version mission impossible mixed with Charlie angels.

  3. I love the fun vibes, doesn’t take itself seriously like Terrius Behind Me/ My Secret Terrius. This kind of drama has a lot of potential. Frankly, I prefer these quiet, no hype, no A-list cast dramas compared to over-hype expensive with overly ambitious plot-lines. The mood right now in Covid time is for fun, light, escapist or soapy makjang operas.

  4. A little of fun is welcome in these time ! not in the mood for”when my love blooms”, “find me in your memory” and “if the weather is good i’ll go to you “and if i have” a piece of your mind” we’ll “born again” and live in “the world of the married” “Wanna taste”? “Nobody knows” !

  5. Didn’t hear about it at all. But hey if it’s different from the current ratings will check it out. Am my romance dramas are boring me.

  6. I tried the first episode and I couldn’t continue watching just after a few minutes. I loved Terius Behind Me but this one doesn’t appeal to me. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if this gets high ratings, Korean audience like this type of shows.

  7. This drama is steeped in traditional Kdrama ridiculousness. BUT it also is not taking itself seriously, and therefore I really am enjoying it so far. But most of all I love seeing Choi Kang Hee at in all her Protect the Boss glory! I forgot how much I love her when she is like that.
