Looking Ahead to Second Half of 2020 Dramas and Movies with Kim Soo Hyun, Park Seo Joon, IU, Suzy, Park Bo Gum and More

I did a happy clap when I saw the script reading pictures for IU and Park Seo Joon for Dream, their upcoming movie from the director of Extreme Jobs. Both are coming off highly successful last projects and collaborating with a top director, expectations are high but it’s worth getting excited for something assembled so well. June 2020 is right around the corner and the first half of 2020 has been INSANE with real world events and K-drama successes and failures that have been opposite of expectation. Looking forward the second half of 2020 has plenty of promising fare ahead and I am ready to dive in.

The movie Dream actually won’t arrive until early 2021 but it’s still high on my excitement list. Coming this July on the small screen is The Moment (Record of Youth) with Park Bo Gum and Park So Dam. May the two Parks prove yet again projects they pick are always sound. Late June there is Backstreet Rookie (Convenience Store Morning Star) with Ji Chang Wook and Kim Yoo Jung but the bigger name arrival the same month of It’s Ok Not to Be Okay with Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Ye Ji. August will bring Suzy and Nam Joo Hyuk back with Start Up (Sandbox) and Suzy also is part of the sprawling cast of late 2020/early 2021 K-movie Wonderland with Park Bo Gum, Gong Yoo, Jung Yumi, and Choi Woo Shik.

Looking Ahead to Second Half of 2020 Dramas and Movies with Kim Soo Hyun, Park Seo Joon, IU, Suzy, Park Bo Gum and More — 32 Comments

  1. Queen Suzy is booked and busy! No one’s doing it like her. Start Up is going to do well with the two top hallyu actor/actress in their 20s. Wonderland is going to outshine these upcoming movies with the long-awaited return of the director and as well as top-notch cast. Can’t wait!

    • I won’t consider Suzy and NJH “top”… PBG is definitely above NJH, and IU is definitely on a better stage (look at her movie with PSJ) in all areas (acting, singing, music making).

    • @marie

did she change her name from Bae suzy to “queen” suzy. Queen is now her surname? lol
and did you say that start up will do well? hmmmmm.

    • @Marie I know you support Suzy, and I always appreciate you defending her, but it’s best not to compare her work. Wonderland is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films of next year, along with Emergency Declaration, for the reasons you listed (there was actually an article about this). But we should leave out the “outshining other upcoming movies” part next time. It’s unnecessary to throw shade when unprovoked, and only gives haters more ammunition to mock Suzy and Sueweeties if the movie underperforms. ?

    • Suzys latest pictorials are beautiful…Looking forward to her new drama which will be a winner. Her career continues to go from strength to strength making us so proud of her.

    • Dr Kim did great with the sequel. So, i hope the same goes to secret forest as well.

But i’ve learned from the king. Gotta put my expectation as the zero point. Even for some of my faves.

    • Me too , been waiting him for the past 5 ydars and hope this drama will put him on the pedestal again (I don’t wanna count that disaster movie called REAL lol)

  2. I don’t know why Suzy is doing so many dramas without breathing room or spacing. She seems to be on a drama every year or less then that

    • Her agency wants to make the most out of her as long as she can still bring in CF money. Her appearance in the movie is very minimal. Doing one drama per year is not much since her singing & dancing career has ended without JYP backing her. She has no talents and should thank her agency for giving her work.

      • @NRT IU does the same amount of dramas but nobody complains. Simply say you hate Suzy.

@Maryanne Lol. Sorry to dash your hopes, but Suzy’s singing career isn’t “over”. When she signed with SOOP, they released an official statement saying they’ll support her singing and acting career. There’s already rumors about her music comeback. Also, funny that you say her appearance in the movie is minimal, because it’s already been confirmed in multiple reports that Gong Yoo and Tang Wei are the ones playing minor roles, whereas Suzy and Bogum are the leads. Now before you try to spin my words and call me delusional, nobody is claiming that Suzy is superior to Gong Yoo and Tang Wei. A-listers can still play supporting roles, especially in movies. Think of it more as high-profile extended cameos. Gong Yoo did one last year in Kim Ji-young, Born 1982. The director himself said Suzy has a significant role in Wonderland, so keep trying to convince yourself otherwise.

Lol. That’s the whole point of an agency? To give work to their artists. ? Why is it always an issue when it comes to Suzy? Whether you think she’s talentless or not, she obviously possesses assets that others are lacking, which is why directors and writers continue to invest in her. First, people said she got everything through JYP. And then when she landed a contract with SOOP, people are still trying to push the narrative that she has nothing to offer and it’s only because of her connections and resources. As if SOOP would’ve offered her a contract in the first place if they didn’t think they would gain anything from her.

Many of the most successful, famous, and profitable stars in Korean entertainment aren’t considered to be the most talented. It’s usually a combination of beauty, good work ethics, and charms. So people on this blog should really give up the “I actually care about talent” act. It’s clear that’s only the case when Suzy is the celebrity in question.

      • @Anonymous. You do not need to write a long essay just to agree with me that Suzy is talentless. I already know. As for her singing career, I have no hope.

      • R u serious?? She has no talent?? Suzys singing career ist over ….YOU JUST HATE HER That the reason …. Be mature

      • @Ben. Yes I am serious. Suzy has no talents. I have no reason to hate. I am only speaking my opinions. We can agree to disagree.

    • @Anonymous

I like Suzy and she definitely has talent. I consider myself Suzy fan. She is a good decent actress and will definitely watch this drama for her. As for the question I was just curious but that Marianne commenter is just a mess ignore her completely

  4. Yesterday there was two great premieres “Mystic POP-Up Bar” and Kkondae Intern!

Don’t sleep on both of these dramas, they were wonderful and reenergize me after disappointing eternal king. Mystic Pop-Up Bar is like 2020 hotel Del Luna! But it’s a webtoon that came way before HDL.

    I recommend!

  5. Excited for Convenience Morning Star. i cant wait for June 12. another successful drama for the leads. the rating will be as high as the fiery priest. Excited.

  6. Looking forward to Park Seo Joon new movie and Kim soo hyuns new drama.

These two never fail to amaze with their brilliant acting performances and their script choices.

Goodluck to the both of you.

  7. For dramas, I am looking forward to Youth Record and for movies, Dream. Both seem interesting with good production team and cast.

  8. Suzy is the only reason why I watch Korean drama n listen to Korean song…
    Wow she is so amazing….
Blowing away with any role and move she take???

  9. R u serious?? She has no talent?? Suzys singing career ist over ….YOU JUST HATE HER That the reason …. Be mature
