Shin Hye Sun, Kim Jung Hyun, Bae Jong Ok, and Kim Tae Woo Confirmed for Comedy Sageuk Drama Queen Cheorin

I’ve long thought the ridiculously low budget and slap stick period Chinese drama Go Princess Go was perfect for a K-drama version and could be done so much better. I don’t think the upcoming sageuk drama Queen Cheorin is announced and an official adaptation of GPG but it’s totally the same plot. Shin Hye Sun is confirmed to play the titular Queen Cheorin who was raised prim and proper and believes its her filial duty to her father to follow his arrangement to become the Queen. Then the soul of a modern day man is suddenly swapped into her body and she turns into a wild and brash new personality, and of course hijinks ensue. Kim Jung Hyun plays her husband the young King who seems like a puppet ruler on the surface but secretly plotting reforms to better his kingdom for the people. Bae Jong Ok and Kim Tae Woo (woo hoo!) round out the cast as members of the powerful royal family with their own agendas. The drama is from the PD of Hwarang and the screenwriter of Inspiring Generation and Dr. Prisoner.

  1. Hwarang is still giving me nightmares, a waste of good looking & good actors… Is that PD any good? Don’t ruin this nice cast again ?

  2. No way, a plot like go princess go?

I hope they keep the “armor” product placement. They should try a similar one.

  3. Not sure if the Korean adaptation is going to be better, better looking +bigger budget yes, but better? Will depend on whether the story will balance the silliness and cuteness with the heartbreak and social commentary and whether the actors have charms and chemistry together. Oh well, hoping the adaptation will turn out good ^^

  4. As much as I love Hwarang because that drama introduced me to my absolute bias Park Hyung Sik, I must say the drama itself is ridiculous. The PD did a lousy job, I stayed watching only because of the terrific casts.

This drama sounds promising with such outstanding casts. I am just worried it may be ruined in the hands of a terrible PD. I hope he will learn and improve from where he left off.

  5. What a beautiful pairing! This line-up is so amazing.
I wonder how they will play out the romance part? A man’s spirit now is supposed to be in the queen, right? How can the queen (he) is in romance with the king, as long as it is not a BL story.

  7. Sounds like a remake of Go Princess Go. BL story isnt my cup of tea, no matter how much they change the story into so called bromance. It’s just my preference. Im curious how they make this story. The ‘him’ in her will come and go maybe??? Or plot twist, the male lead is a ‘her’. Lols.
