Multitude of K-stars Attend Press Conference Promoting Sci-fi Drama Anthology SF8 Airing on MBC in August 2020

The future is constantly used as a subject matter of sci-fi shows and movies because there is much to mine in the unknown, and the known about how we think our society will evolve. The drama comes in projecting how humans will adapt and change with the evolution of technology and life spans and world expansion/contraction. Upcoming anthology drama series SF8 tackles the future world but through the lens of 8 individual stories dealing with AI, virtual and augmented reality, robots, disasters, and more. It sounds like a less dark version of Black Mirror and really a great step forward for K-dramas to try this. The series is being supported by the Director’s Guild of Korea so many of the PDs are critically acclaimed movie directors. The large cast starring in the series, split into various pairings, include Moon So Ri, Lee Yeon Hee, Choi Siwon, UEE, Lee Shi Young, Lee Deok Hwi, Kim Bora, David Lee, Lee Yoo Young, Hani, Shin So Yul, and Ha Joon. The series is slated to air two episodes a week in August on MBC for four weeks straight.

  1. Isn’t this a copy of sense8? It’s probably going to be bad. Koreans can’t do pure sci-fi well(ie. Rugal, Are you human). It will probably look nice, be big budget, have lots of pointless action but overall cringe. Hope I’m proven wrong.
