Tribute to Miura Haruma and His Most Iconic and High Profile Movie and Dorama Roles from Koizora to Bloody Monday to Gintama

In writing a blog there’s a desire to preserve a thought or the memory of a moment, so it’s only fitting that I write a post to remember J-actor Miura Haruma‘s most well known works from his very early breakouts all the way to his most recent projects. He was a child actor who started acting at 7 years old and got his first break as the male lead in the J-movie adaptation of popular cellphone novel Koizora opposite Aragaki Yui. The two were actual teens when they filmed it, the same age as the characters in high school, and reportedly dated for a few years in real life afterwards. He went on to popular franchises of Gokusen and Crows Zero, being tin more manga adaptations such as Kimi ni Todoke, Attack on Titan, and Gintama. He also did serious and darker fare like Taisetsu na Koto wa Subete Kimi ga Oshiete Kureta (You Taught Me All the Precious Things) and Never Let Me Go, and fun stuff like Last Cinderella and Confidence Man. I’m going to miss him so so much onscreen and hope that he’s like where his character Hiro in Koizora believes where he will be after passing on, in the sky looking down at the people he loves. May this beautiful young man be at peace.

Tribute to Miura Haruma and His Most Iconic and High Profile Movie and Dorama Roles from Koizora to Bloody Monday to Gintama — 27 Comments

  1. Also Boku no ita jikan, one of my favorite J dramas.

What an shocking loss. He seemed to have a very successful, stable career. RIP.

  2. Still so heartbroken, its like a piece of memorable Japanese films/dramas died with him today. Such an uneasy day today.

  3. In shock. He was one of the reasons I started watching J dramas. RIP sweet boy. What sad times we are living in right now.

  4. I’m in complete shock. He was a talent and force I have followed since the beginning. My heart goes out to his family and friends. The world has lost an incredible light. May he Rest In Peace. He will be sorely missed.

  5. It’s okay to not be okay. Find someone you can talk. Someone you trust. If there’s no one around, go find a professional. There’s always the hotlines for the one who needs help. Miss Koala, would you mind to add hotlines everytime you write an article like this?

He might has his own opinion why he has chosen this way. I pray for him. He’ll be remembered.

  6. His character in Bloody Monday remains the most memorable to me. ❤️ Thank you for all your great works Haruma! Hoping I won’t read any more news in the future about an actor/actress losing life to suicide. My heart can no longer take it. ?

  7. When I was 13 years old, I first saw Koizora and completely fell for him. I’ve never seen an actor who as beautiful as him and his smile makes warm to my heart.
I am feeling now that My teen cursh and all beautiful memories of years fangirling him are all gone. I’m gonna cherish every his works. This is the guy he took my heart before Korean actors did. He was the only Japenese name I knew extremely well.
I wish he rest in peace and quiet. I’m sure he must have suffered a lot and he lived his life under a lot of pressure. Now, he finally escaped under this madness.

  8. I don’t think it was a suicide, I think someone killed him, maybe the police will do nothing to know the truth. He had no sign of depression at all. I doubt a person who as successful and cheerful as him would commit suicide.

  9. May you find peace Haruma <3 I'm still so shocked and devastated. I can hardly process this news. Talented, humble and handsome, he was the whole package. Koizura, Bloody Monday, Kimi ni Todoke, Attack on Titan and so many more…you were a powerhouse. Just re-watched Koizura in honor of your memory and cried my eyes out. God this year is just so heartbreaking

  10. This man was a insanely popular Japanese Superstar with talent to back it up. Before the time of newcomers actors like Kento and Mackenyu, this actor was a wall. I still remember how his name was popular in every Japanese news and fansites.
Condolences to his family and friends ?

  11. R.I.P Haruma Miura, Our precious and talented man. You must have been hurted a lot. Now, you are in the sky and where there is no more pain, only love and freedom. You’re always in our hearts.
The world doesn’t deserve you and the world failed you ??

  12. I’ve never expected he would die so early like this. It was not until he died that I realized how important he had been to Japan. I now realized that he is one of the major reasons why I fall in love with Japanese Movies/Dramas and Culture. He is like a part of my entire childhood.

  13. I never knew that he suffered cyberbullying. A guy like him is actually a complete package.
What did they criticize about him? He perfectly fits the japan beauty standard and talented.
Maybe, Japan is another level at cyber-bullying. And, no why suicide rates in Japan is quite high.

  14. I was shocked and sad when I heard the news. I have known about Haruma since Koizora and have watched a few of his dramas and movies. He was such a talented actor. Hope he can rest in peace.

  15. I loved Bloody Monday. That was the time I realized Japanese dramas have a good quality to them and started to check out other dramas as well.

RIP. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world. I am just sad that the world was not there for you at your lowest.

To everyone who is having a hard time, know that you are not alone. Take it one day at a time. Things will get better.

  16. My heart is so broken. I followed him ever since Koizora. He was one of my favorite J actors. I cry at the thought that he’s no longer here with us. May he Rest In Peace knowing that he will never be forgotten. ???

  17. He will be dearly missed.? Just recently I was thinking of drawing a portrait of Eren Jaeger (protagonist of “Shingeki no Kyojin), but with this shocking news I got some goosebumps. He was well-known as the main lead in the live action movie of the same title; as with his other movies/TV series. I will always remember the smile he has; may GOD’S Peace be with you.

  18. J. Thank you for the in memoriam. This is terrible news, am still in shock. Miura was a big reason why I enjoyed blogging so much, even for just a short time. He will be missed.
