Namgong Min and Park Eun Bin Win Drama Best Actor and Best Actress at the 2020 Grimae Awards Selected by Korean Director’s Association

The Grimae Awards is less prominent in the international audience as it’s a prestigious but smaller awards platform given by the South Korean Director’s Association. It’s the Korea equivalent of the DGA Awards in the US (Director’s Guild Association) and wins are definitely coveted and appreciated because it comes from the talented group that does all the directing behind the scenes so they can spot quality differently. This year 2020 the Grimae Awards on the drama side was a near sweep by SBS drama Stove League which took home Best Drama and the two leads Namgong Min won Best Actor and Park Eun Win was awarded Best Actress. A true newbie Shin Soo Hyun received Best Newcomer for her debut drama Woman of 9.9 Billion. Congrats to the winners and it’s really been a solid year for K-dramas in terms of quality and entertainment value.

  1. I admit not having watching very little kdramas this year. However, I did watch Stove League which was excellent. Kudos to the acting team.

  2. Congratulations to the winners, it’s well deserved! The Grimae awards are prestigious because they don’t really treat popularity/ratings as the criteria for the award, I remember it being a big deal when Lee Jong Seok got one in 2014 for Pinocchio because he was the youngest ever winner but they weren’t awarding him just for Hallyu star status.
